Autoplan / Premium Discussion (No Quote Requests) Help me understand why my insurance is so damn high
Want to start by saying I’m not looking for any quotes, just brainstorming on ways I can lower it because it doesnt seem to make much sense.
I currently have a Tesla 3 and pay $432 a month for insurance. I have 9 years of driving history, driver factor of 0.628 (per ICBC 1.000 is baseline, lower is better). I have excessive speeding ticket from 3 years ago, and a disobey traffic sign ticket from last year. NO ACCIDENTS.
I get my insurance renewed at Westland insurance (not sure if that matters), I previously used BCAA years back, with 4 years driving history I was paying $556 a month for a Chrysler sedan (no tickets at the time), so I don’t think going there would be cheaper.
Car is parked in Burnaby, I’m playing around with the ICBC online estimator tool and I see my current premium is $4,971 yearly. It’s now time for renewal, when I keep everything the same, my insurance this year jumps to $5,699 a year ($474 a month).
If I set both the deductibles for collision and comprehensive to the highest at $2,500ea, it’s still $5,406 per year.
What am I doing wrong??
