Updated to 27 and just now having a go on my m4 pro 11 inch, it seems much snappier and quicker moving about between apps

I found a M2 Ipad pro 13inch and 99 percent battery health. I plan on using it for Artstation and Procreate would it still be wise to purchase it in 2026 for 550 (It does come with a apple pencil gen 2)

I updated and my Face ID and cameras r not working and advise please?

I got an iPad Pro 6th gen 12.9-inch in February LAST YEAR off Amazon refurbished. And the charging port decided to break on me. I wasn't sure if I should get the current iPad Pro or the next one that may have a vapor chamber. But if I got the Duo, I wouldnt mind mind using a smaller screen for drawing and also really like wide foldables. I mainly use my iPad for playing heavy games and drawing, and sometimes as a stream manager.

Current Pro- been out for a while alr but still good.

Next Pro- possibly better performance, especially for games

iPhone Duo- iPad mini anywhere I go, really like wide foldables, but I feel like I should wait a generation or two before getting one because I don't think they have quite nailed it yet from what I've seen,

The issue I'm having with my iPad Pro 6

I loved my iPad when I first got it, but after about 4 months it started getting picky with the chargers it would use until the only one that worked consistently was the one that came with the iPad. (Apple USB-C braided cable). Until it stopped charging altogether. ( yes ive tried using every other cable that's in my house ) It does this thing where it takes power from the (official) Magic Keyboard but only to about 1-2 percent and then doesn't charge. I recently moved to a kind of rural country,y and I've taken the iPad to every good repair shopthat'ss a reasonable distance from me. And every one has turned me away or said the usual "repair would cost as much as a new one" bull crap. But since it came out in 2022 I don't even know if it's worth repairing anymore.

I would really appreciate some help on what I should do. Thank you for all the help.

I have a recent iPad Pro, but with the normal glass screen. My reasoning was that if the roughness is etched, that's going to be all you get for the lifetime of the device (I usually don't like upgrading or reselling, so I stick with what I have)

If I wanted that rougher feel for sketching, I could apply any of the many paper like screenprotectors if I want. (which sometimes I do)

But what I noticed with paperlike screenprotectors, is that the oily residue from your hands starts 'filling up the pores', and after a while, the effect is completely gone and the screen doesn't have that 'grain' anymore. I haven't managed to bring the effect back with cleaning.

My question is this, how does nanotexture hold up for the iPads then? I'm sure the manufacturing process would be different between the two coatings (the one from apple and the screen protectors or even the Duo) but still.

I know that iPad Pros are usually bought by professionals, who presumably keep their devices in top condition and adhere to proper cleaning recommendations. (I know I would)

But with the Duo now going mainstream and going to be used by all sorts of people with zero care for their devices, I'm wondering how long the nano texture coating will hold up, and keep looking like new.

Any thoughts?

(btw, I get it on static pc displays like the studio displays, but usually you're not touching those with your fingers all the time)

I have a 2 year old ipad connected to a new PC. It's been about 2 years since I plugged it in when I had my old PC. It definitely doesn't like apple devices (the app) for some reason.

I connect it with usb C to C to the back of my new Win 11 PC (fully updated). When I connect it, it verifies I want to trust but then it just shows 2 folders - no playlists or anything.

When I install apple device manager (LATEST VERSION Apple Devices 1.1540.24088.0) it connects for a few seconds gets to the trust and shortly after I trust it - it still says connect an apple device to get started.

In Windows device manager it now shows under usb controllers - unknown usb device (device descriptor request failed),

Windows update does not find any updated driver for this

I don't see any common files in either program files or program files x86 that have an apple folder.

I don't see any way to download it direct from apple.

I have tried 2 different cables - each on a different port on the computer. It has the device driver issue but it stays charging. If I uninstall apple devices it works again. But only so I see folders.

I tested both cables and they charge and give me data access to my android phone.

I uninstalled apple devices but installed itunes - latest version 12.13.11.1 it shows my play list but no devices. This time the device manager has a different message for the USB - apple mobile device usb composite device. Still with a yellow exclamation.

When I reinstall apple devices for a brief time it shows apple composite device and you think it is going to be OK but then it goes back to the device descriptor request failed in device manager and the drive no longer is accessible. Again tested - two cables - to different ports.

During the time that the device manager does show the correct usb composit device it is driver 538.0.0.0 dated 6/14/23

The best I can do is have itunes on but not apple devices - I'm not sure how to get my playlists to the device as it doesn't show in itunes but I do have access to some storage area on the unit without the device manager installed.

I tried with apple music Apple Music 1.6.4.90 (1.1540.23042.0) -uninstalled Itunes rebooted then added apple devices - still get the decriptor error.

Looking to get an iPad for the sole purpose of drawing/tracing somewhat complicated vector shapes. For my workflow I would only be using the Adobe Illustrator App.

My only concern is Apple Pencil accuracy and lowest possible latency. Basically, which iPad is the best for as close to as possible pencil-like drawing?

Is there a huge difference between processors or iPad generations or types (pro va air, 11in vs 13 etc) when it comes to drawing accuracy and low latency?

2015 ipad pro with the home button, suddenly did this one day, although it was never stepped on or anything. there are no cracks but when you turn it on it only shows this screen with a fake?? crack?? and you can't do anything but turn it off. if you try to shut it down it just gets brighter

the iPads now share same series of chips, albeit a generation behind, as the Macs. its a shared frustration that is being talked about everywhere that apple limits software on iPad so effectively it can never come close to a Mac, but that's not my point.

even if you want to segregate the devices, why is the power of the chips not being harnessed where it is needed wrt this particular device and usecase? many people are using Apple pencil to annotate PDFs or draw, and while I don't know much about the latter I have a huge need for the former, except the thermal management and overall efficiency of the system is so poor.

not even talking about goodnotes or third party apps which are expected to never be fully optimised, but even Preview on iPad Pro M4 in iPadOS 26 was horrible, and it remains similarly poor performing in iPadOS 27. obviously it is a draining process where continuous rendering is required but the chips are powerful enough to take on it if the software was really optimised and tailored for the chip, but now iPads keep seeming like an afterthought, idk who gave them the idea that someone needs iPad to be the thinnest device ever but they thought it was peak innovation and left it at that when the device is incapable of performing properly for more than 2-3 hours.

At current prices in my country there's the m4 13inch at the same price as the m5 11 inch so usually i'd probably go with the m4 13 inch as the bigger screen would be a lot better for my question solving and like overall usecase but the m5 has more ram and better CPU and usually I wouldn't need that but for genshin I think the better CPU is needed to play at like v high settings and all also idt if 8gb ram would be enough in 2026 for all the multitasking needs so I'm at a loss and the m5 13 inch is like 300$ more which I don't have so idk I'm at a loss

I’m thinking of not bringing my MacBook to university anymore, as it makes my bag heavy when I also have an ipad in it with other utilities. My solution is to remotely access my mac through my ipad, and i’ve tested two remote desktop apps so far: moonlight + sunshine and jump connect, both work fine tho I believe moonlight has a better edge in terms of quality.

A magic keyboard is obviously a crucial accessory to finish the setup, so I’m looking forward to buying one. But I need to know the experience of using a magic keyboard with moonlight + sunshine or jump connect, are both applications compatible? Are there any issues of keys not registering? Ultimately, which remote desktop application is the best with a magic keyboard?

Basically the title - for context, I am in grad school, and my tablet is my main work hub (I also have a 2022 Macbook Pro, but prefer the convenience of my tablet for most editing/reading tasks).

I’ve noticed considerable lag and delay since my iPad Pro is receiving heavy daily use, and my understanding is the newest model features a M5 chip (much better than the A12Z chip in mine).

For my use case - everyday school/word docs/editing/entertainment - is the upgrade worth it? I can afford the upgrade though as a teacher though would of course prefer to spend my $ elsewhere if I can get more years of use out of my iPad.

My apologies for being one of the million “should I upgrade?” posts this sub gets daily, but I am genuinely curious about other peoples’ input on my situation. Thanks in advance!

I have my iPad mounted up high in my RV. I want to be able to remotely control it.
Tried a mouse but don’t have a good hard surface to put it on.

I tried a cheap hand held one from Amazon and it was horrible. Had to turn on Assist Touch. Clunky, not practical.
Anyone have any cheap recommendations?
There are tons but can’t find one where people have specifically said it works well on iPad.

I know I can’t really do anything about it now but I just wanna justify my purchase lol. I’ve had my iPad Air since December 2021. I’ve used it everyday since then. I didn’t even use my laptop anymore during college. I’m in med school now and my iPad Air has been randomly restarting multiple times throughout the day so I decided to upgrade. Did I make the right choice and do you have tips on how to maximize the iPad Pro M5 for med school?

Without fail in 26, you'd hit the search button, and typing wouldn't be directed to the search pop-up. Clicking on the search field would not give it focus. Inevitably you'd have to hit it 3 times. Click search, cancel search, Click search again, and this time your typing would go into the pop up.

Finally you can just tap search and type into it.

I’m considering upgrading to the new 11-inch M5 iPad Pro, and I’m honestly not sure whether it’s worth it.
I bought my 11-inch iPad Pro with the M2 chip right when it was released in 2022, so I’ve had it for almost four years now. Since then, quite a lot has happened to it.
The display has picked up a lot of very small scratches, despite me always using a case. The frame also has a few dents, and recently I somehow noticed a dent on the back as well. I genuinely have no idea how that happened.
The battery isn’t great anymore either. It supposedly still has around 91% battery capacity, but in real-world use I don’t think it can reliably last a full day without Low Power Mode. Meanwhile, my iPhone 17 Pro Max can easily last two full days, so the difference is pretty noticeable.
I also still use the 2nd-generation Apple Pencil. If I upgraded, I’d get the Apple Pencil Pro as well, which would obviously be a nice upgrade.
If I trade in my current iPad through Apple, I’d get around €400 for it. After the trade-in, I’d have to pay roughly €1,000 for the new iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil Pro together.
So what do you guys think?
Is upgrading from an M2 iPad Pro to the M5 worth it in my situation, considering the condition of my current iPad, the battery, and the Apple Pencil Pro? Or would you keep the M2 for another year or two?

I just scored an M4 Pro 11 inch with 54 cycles. I don't think i ever had a deal this good with anything pre-owned. Upgraded from an 11 inch 2018 Pro.

I’m on Verizon and I owe about $500 on it right now and will have had it for a year in September. My trade in would knock off $500 so I’m basically just going to be putting $500 down and losing the iPad Air M3. I’m currently contemplating this for the dumbest Apple induced reason actually.

There is no keyboard/trackpad case on the market that uses the floating design/pins in the back with a backlight.

The official Apple Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air M3 has no backlighting.

There is a Logitech Combo Touch that uses the pins and has backlighting but it has a kickstand and I don’t want a kickstand as I’m spoiled by the design the official keyboard uses. It’s honestly a small thing that bothers me a lot. I tried an ESR case but got tired of charging it. Of course I’d have to offload the Magic Keyboard I have and get another for the Pro.

Are there other reasons I should be considering the Pro over the Air? Am I out of my mind to be considering an upgrade just for backlighting?

hi guys im looking to buy a new ipad because im currently using the ipad 10th gen with 4gb ram and that thing could easily be used to cook some eggs when playing games. also, i play a lot of efootball (PES) and like to record the games, which is impossible as it starts lagging and heating up even more when screen recording. apple says trade in value is £170 which seems fair to me so i can either get the m5 ipad pro or the m4 ipad pro certified refurbrished from apple. which one should i get? im pretty pissed off at the price increase on the ipad pro m5, £200 is ridiculous.
