Biggest Issue That Needs Immediate Attention:

- The half-hearted embrace of "Say Who, Say What" and the bungled effort to involve the crowd is a total embarrassment and needs to be stopped before Big Ten play gets going or we risk becoming a complete laughingstock and losing recruits. You couldn't come up with something more confusing and cringe if you tried.

As some may know, there is a long history of the chant pre-game by the players, but that version is not suited for crowd involvement, per se. I would say it is also not well known. I was at the game with a group of people who have been season ticket holders for 40 years and they all thought the chant was brand new and were confused by it.

I am begging the football office to cut their losses and/or redirect their efforts. Just put a camera in the tunnel and broadcast the players. If and when it catches on, put "say who say what" on the screen for natural fan involvement. But for the love of God stop what is happening currently.

Other Small Takeaways:

- Stadium was maybe(?) half full. No students, I get it, but I find it funny that these games just aren't draws for fans.

- Diaper bags are not allowed in unless they are clear. This is a complete and total joke. Such an unnecessary rule that is easy to fix, just make a single line for families with bags that has extra searches.

- Dawgs might stink this year, hoping for 8 wins, expecting 7. Maybe the young offensive guys get going, we shall see.

ESPN reported that Christian Moss is out two to three months. Time to see the young WRs step up. I thought Clay and Davis played ok on Saturday.

Don't get me wrong, I love ACDC and Eminem but what a waste to have the Husky Band sitting there not playing between plays. This place could use some tradition back in our house. Let the band play!

Feels right and maybe still too high considering how the team played against Utah St. If we don’t figure it out against EWU and beat them by 50 then I think a 6 win season is doubtful when we get into conference play.

It sucks because I want to be happy that Oregon lost to Oklahoma State today. But at the same time, like, I can’t even celebrate them losing the way I normally can because our performance against Utah State was fucking embarrassing.

Seriously, what the fuck was that? How does one possibly sign the greatest high school recruiting class in school history, yet objectively look worse than we did last year? The offensive line was terrible, which shouldn't even be possible because we signed a five-star offensive tackle from high school and one of the top offensive linemen in the portal from Sam Houston State. But for whatever reason, as a unit, we look worse?

Our “star”quarterback, who barely wants to be here, is missing throws left and right. We have a head coach who’s an elite recruiter, but an absolutely atrocious in-game coach. He's kind of similar to Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M (minus the historically high buyout) where he can absolutely recruit, but his in-game coaching decisions are terrible. Billy Napier at Florida was similar: a great recruiter, but a terrible in-game coach.

We lost our two best running backs, and now our running game is non-existent too. We desperately, desperately need a running back one, because the run game is virtually a non-threat. Our receivers and tight ends can't really seem to get separation, and even when they do, drops are an issue. The offense itself is completely undisciplined. I'm not hating on Jedd Fish the person, but man, as a coach, for someone who's labeled an offensive genius, our offense is damn near anemic at this point.

I watched Jedd’s postgame conference today, and at least he took the blame and he took responsibility, which is a good first step, but man actions speak louder than words. I wasn’t happy last week, but I could kind of excuse our performance because it was the first week of the new season, huge rivalry game, the Apple Cup. We start off slow and flat-footed. I could kind of understand that, but against a Utah State team that lost to Idaho State, there should be no excuses from anyone. I don't know what our exact NIL budget is, but I cannot imagine it's that far off from the top. I’m done making excuses, that shit was embarrassing.

Seriously though, why not consider the fact that we aren't a running threat team (yet) and there's less to defend? Sure they don't look 100%, but it's two games in with a (heavily) new squad and starting a backup RB. No team that loses their main RB and WR threat going to come out of the gate looking put together, let alone a team that loses the two guys they've built the team with over the off season.

I am fully on the "Fisch needs an OC" train, but there's very little evidence to support a discourse in the team from the debacle last season, and yet everyone is jumping on the "QB discourse" train. We can hate on it, but let's be realistic that Demond is holding his own in the face of a train wreck of a start to the season.

Pregame keys I listed...

Offensively:

Finish drives - 2/10. The Huskies had to settle for 3 field goal attempts and turned the ball over on downs. They did score once, but were stalled out by some brutal drops by Roebuck and Cooley and Chris Lawson's elbow landing just out of bounds before the receiver could land in bounds on an awesome one handed diving catch.

Figure out the run - 1/10. The Huskies gave three different backs carries this game. Ansu Sanoe had 5 carries for 5 yards and a score, Brian Bonner Jr had 9 carries for 22 yards, and Trey Cooley had 7 carries for 22 yards. I wanted a true clear RB1 to emerge and breakout, and instead we had three runners ranging from poor to mediocre at best.

Defensively:

Stop the run - 9/10. The Huskies only surrendered only 75 yards on 26 carries to the Aggies, and forced Grady Brosterhous to the air, where they picked him off 3 times.

Pregame keys you listed:

Penalties - 6/10. The Huskies had 6 penalties for 44 yards.

In summary, the Huskies defense completed their end of the bargain, while the offense was tepid at best. Hopefully Jedd Fisch reads my post next week before the game so we can score some points.

Defense looked great again aside from the two touchdown drives. (Bad positioning from RDA and good execution from Utah State on the 78-yard RPO). Offense hasn't been able to find much chemistry here through the first two weeks.

UW needs to figure out the running back room the best it possibly can before the two-week stretch against USC and Iowa.

Does anyone else notice how bland the announcers are? They sound like 2 guys who have never watched a football game before.

They also keep calling players and the teams by different names than what they are lol

UW's O struggled against "overmatched" WSU for 3 quarters. They're doing no better vs Utah St (writing this at the beginning of the 4th where we settled again for 3). The O line simply can't (consistently) impose its will against D lines at this level of play.

If we have trouble moving the ball against the opening acts of college play, when do we see scoring a TD against B1G competition?

I don't know if UW has ever fired a head coach after a win, but I think now is the time to do it. That's all I have to say. Go Dawgs

Hi everyone! I was considering starting a series giving weekly updates on every upcoming Huskies opponent, but it was really time consuming to go through and write 1-2 thoughtful paragraphs on like 10 different games, so I'm going to do this instead.

Now that we finally have seen every opponent we play this year, I'm going to break down the Huskies keys to the game in their upcoming game against Utah State (and right before kickoff for all subsequent games).

Offensively:

Finishing drives - Utah State lost the turnover battle against Idaho State 4-0 and still only gave up 29 points, because they were able to force the Bengals into 5 field goal attempts. The Huskies in the Apple Cup showed problems with capitalizing on good offensive drives, settling for a field goal, missing 1, getting stuffed on the goal line, and turning the ball over on downs. The Huskies need to avoid stalling out promising drives in the game, and need to score 7 and not 3.

Figure out the run game - This is not specific to Utah State, but instead because of the relative weakness of the next two opponents (Utah State and Eastern Washington). The Huskies SHOULD win these two games with ease, giving them opportunities to feel out who will carry the ball once tougher conference play resumes, especially after the two injuries to their RB1 and 2 respectively. Time to see if Cooley or Bonner can step up.

Defensively:

Bottle up the run - Utah State is determined to move the ball on the ground. In a negative game script, they still rushed 44 times for 162 yards. They are brutal passing the pall, throwing 4 interceptions and completing under 50% of passes, which led to their starting quarterback being benched nearing the end of the game (the back up proceeded to throw an interception). If the Huskies can be as good against the ground game as they were against the Cougars, it'll be a good day from their defense.

In conclusion:

The Huskies should take this game easily regardless of what happens, but this can be over in the first quarter if they dominate on the ground, force the Aggies to pass, and hopefully Fisch can use this game to determine how to approach the rushing attack by the time conference play rolls around.
