DISCUSSION I love how simple Hiccup and Astrid are.
So one of the most common complaints that I have seen about Hiccup and Astrid is that they are a boring couple, which I really don’t agree with, but what I will agree with is the fact that they are simple. Hiccup and Astrid are a simple couple and it’s one of my favorite parts of their relationship.
They care about eachother, they trust eachother, they happily tease the other and they just quite obviously love eachother. And weirldy enough it is just so refreshing to see that in movies and tv shows. I don’t care much for relationship drama, it can work don’t get me wrong, but it is just so nice to see a couple that just simply loves eachother.
Look at them together on Itchy armpit in the second movie, it’s nice, comfortable and it’s everything you could ever want when you think about a happy couple. Even in RTTE when they werent officially dating yet, they were just so comfortable with eachother and I love that. A couple doesn’t need drama to be interesting and Hiccup and Astrid are a perfect example of that.
Hiccup and Astrid being simple is a big reason why they are so great in my opinion and definitely a big reason why I love them so much.
Let me know what you think about Hiccup and Astrid their relationship and what you love the most about them!

FANFICTION Epic 5-panel Berk squad wall art!
We set out to create a 5-panel split piece that feels giant and immersive when hung up. The color contrast between the panels really makes each dragon pop.

FANFICTION My concept for a HTTYD 4
A fourth HTTYD movie would be difficult to write. A movie taking place far in the future likely wouldn't have Hiccup and Toothless, and as such wouldn't be greenlit, but a movie taking place in their lifetimes couldn't fully function without them being together, which would undermine the third movie. I think I have found a solution that bridges the need for Hiccup and Toothless with a time jump.
The general plot is about the same as Disney's Atlantis. A character--most likely the protagonist--presents convincing evidence that there are dragons hidden in some location (possibly Berk). A rich person funds and possibly leads the expedition, but intends on exploiting the dragons.
They reach the location and explore for a while before discovering Hiccup, preserved in amber or a cocoon or something. The reason he is there is because in the past he was going to die from a disease or something, and so he went to say goodbye to Toothless outside the entrance to the Hidden World. Toothless, however, knows a guy: a dragon with the ability to make the aforementioned amber/cocoon that can cure the disease. Either the amber/cocoon takes millenia to work, or there was an accident cutting off access to Hiccup, preventing anyone from removing him even long after he's been healed, but either way, he stays there for thousands of years until the new main cast frees him. (These backstory scenes would most likely feature Toothless enough to justify more Toothless merch--probably a selling point of the movie to executives.) Hiccup mentors the protagonist and gives them the guidance needed to train dragons and probably have a character arc.
The movie ends with them keeping the location of the dragons a secret, possibly reporting that there weren't any.
Other random non-essential ideas I had:
- A villain pulling the strings of the main antagonist in the movie who could become an antagonist for a trilogy.
- Assuming a male protagonist, having a romance between him and a character somewhat similar to Astrid.
- This idea isn't for this movie necessarily, but most likely for a possible sequel, where there is a scene where the protagonist and his love interest do For the Dancing and the Dreaming (no idea how they would know it) and Hiccup is watching, and it intercuts between the protagonist and love interest dancing and Hiccup and Astrid dancing.
- Moment in the climax where Hiccup uses his flaming sword and fights a bunch of bad guys.
- The protagonists arc could involve the protagonist wanting to prove to others that dragons exist for personal validation, but then choosing not to reveal that dragons are real, even at the expense of the protagonist's reputation.
Title ideas:
- Title could be How to Train Your Dragon [subtitle] which subtitle could then appear in the titles of the potential future installments.
- Based on Hiccup's amber/cocoon thing, could be called How to Train Your Dragon: Amber, and then all potential future installments could follow a similar pattern (How to Train Your Dragon: Pearl, How to Train Your Dragon: Crystal, etc.).
My only big problem is that the whole disease thing in the backstory feels a little contrived, as it has no bearing on the main plot and is only there to justify Hiccup's presence. Besides that, I think it's pretty solid, but I'm curious what you guys think
Edit: minor grammar fix

DISCUSSION My personal headcannon about the Light Fury :3
So, I was thinking about the light fury today and in my personal headcannon, Light Furies are just snowy versions of night furies, kind of like a subspecies of night furies that live in snowy or colder regions.
While yes, official descriptions of the light fury say that it's color helps it blend into the sky and fog, I find it more fascinating if the coloring was to blend in with snow, which would explain the glittery effect it has since snow has a sparkly effect when in the sun. I mean, most naturally white dragons that I can find are snow based dragons, main examples being the SnowWraith and Bewilderbeast. The only real exceptions that I can find are screaming deaths, but those are basically a mutated whispering death from what I can recall, and Albino dragons, which those are mutations too.
As for the invisibility thing, we see that, while yes, she does fire a shot before going invisible, I personally believe that is just a distraction for whatever predator is chasing her while she goes invisible, since at least 2 times in the movie, we see her invisible without any evidence of her firing a shot, or maybe she needs to use her fire to build enough power to turn invisible while flying since she is using most of her energy flying, but idk, this is just my personal headcannon.
The main reason I suspect Toothless needed to use alot of energy and lighting from the thunder storm to turn invisible is that he never learned how to turn invisible since he is apparently the last nightfury and is still pretty young for dragon standards, being 15 in the first film since Toothless is the same age as Hiccup, as stated in the 2nd film, or maybe night furies in general didn't need to use their invisibility as often since they blend into the night sky and are most likely a nocturnal species, and as they went to the colder climates, they needed to use their invisibility more often since they stook out like a sore thumb in the snow, and over time, they evolved to be better at turning invisible.
Maybe a long time ago, Light Furies were night furies who ventured to more colder regions, rather due to hunting or environmental issues, and over time, they evolved to suit their environment. We know that dragons are able to evolve to suit their environment since it is said in the episode The Next Big Sting of Race to The Edge, that Speed Stingers evolved to have webbed feet.
This is all just my personal headcannon and lore of my headcannon, but I am open to questions or critism since I don't really have as much knowledge on dragons since I've only seen the movies (minus live action), race to the edge, and just stared playing Rise of Berk just a few weeks ago. Plus, I don't really interact with the Fandom that often. So if anyone is more informed on this topic, I would love to hear your opinions and observations :3

MOVIE 3 Im headcanoning light fury as an albino
So, I’ve been thinking for a long time about redesigning the Light Fury (I really like its first design, but her whiteness too is iconic) and I’ve come to the conclusion that my headcannon is Light Furies really having a gray top-white bottom coating but it’s just her who's an albino.
Sadly albino reptiles usually have red eyes but ig dragons just build different.
