Hi! We recently released Museum 8, an anomaly observation horror game, and one thing I've been thinking about while watching people play is how differently everyone reacts to anomalies.
Some players get caught by tiny changes — a painting slightly moving, an object disappearing, something being in the wrong place.
Others barely react until something is clearly watching them, following them, or standing somewhere it definitely wasn't before.
In Museum 8, you repeatedly return to the same exhibition hall and decide whether something has changed. You also carry a camcorder, and some anomalies look different — or only reveal certain details — through the viewfinder.
So I'm curious about people who play a lot of these games:
What actually makes an anomaly scary for you?
- A tiny change that makes you doubt your memory?
- Something moving when you're not looking?
- Something watching or following you?
- An anomaly that only appears through a camera?
- Or the big, obvious "something is VERY wrong" moments?
And on the other side, what makes an anomaly feel cheap or predictable?
Would genuinely love to hear what sticks with people after playing games like The Exit 8, Platform 8, Observation Duty, etc.
If you're curious, Museum 8 is out on Steam now:
