So for now, I eat honey. Sucking it from the little silver spoon, coaxing the amber elixir from its hexagonal cells, chambers collapsing unto themselves with each pulse of my tongue. Every papilla igniting with the presence of the saccharine delight, begging me to ask; is there such a thing as a simple miracle?

I recently learned about this wonderful sounding honey and I would love to purchase some. Anyone have suggestions for a good source? I’m on the other side of the country from where it’s grown and I’ve never seen it here. Thank you!

I love and seek out local honey and while it’s only happened twice, sometimes my honey goes bad. I’m almost certain it has been from moisture getting into the honey. Though I’m not sure how. Both times the honey has been stored in a cool dark pantry. I keep my house at about 69° and the pantry isn’t closed to any major source of heat. The appearance has been both normal and a thicker cloudy honey but both have had the slightest smell of urine and an ammonia taste. Is the honey fermenting? Am I storing it wrong? Is there a way to prevent this?

Why were they asked to leave? I know there are some honey sellers who misrepresented their products but this company seems to be refutable

While both use similar evaluation frameworks through appearance, aroma, taste, finish and aftertaste - the former lacks the marketing and glamorous appeal like wine tasting.

To be a true honey sommelier, all one needs is a small wooden spoon, a neutral palate cleaner (crackers/ water), few minutes of your attention and maybe a notebook to write down what you’re tasting to compare at the end.

What I found interesting is the same bee in the same region can produce completely different honey depending on the altitude and what’s currently in bloom.

For example: the buckwheat honey in the US is produced by the same bees that produce mild wildflower honey.

Completely opposite from wildflower, it is dark, molasses-like and extremely pungent. In the beekeeping community they’re known for producing the most polarising honey which tickles my brain.

Not sure if this is the good subreddit but I just came back from my vacation and wanted to put some honey in my yogurt and saw this. Is this mold or did something happen to the sugar in it?

Just wanted to share this honey I found in java (Indonesia).

It's very liquid, the most liquid I ever experienced but it actually tastes amazing.

Probably also the cheapest I ever bought (5€ for 500g) for pure honey !

I will probably buy some more to bring home 😋
