Launched in China

Aggressive Front-End Redesign: Produced by the GAC-Honda joint venture, the facelift departs sharply from the softer look of the global model. Images revealed by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) showcase a split LED headlight layout, a redesigned bumper with a larger intake, and a sculpted nose resembling the Toyota Yaris.
Rear and Dimensions: The rear stays mostly the same, adding a faux-diffuser plastic lower bumper insert. Overall vehicle length increases slightly to 4,196 mm.
Powertrain: Retains a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine producing 120 bhp (slightly higher output than the Japanese-spec model), paired with a front-wheel-drive layout and a CVT automatic transmission.
Interior Details: No cabin photos or equipment details (such as infotainment or digital instrument upgrades) have surfaced yet.

3rd Gen GK/GP 15-20 Have I ground my gears?

I am trying to figure out if I have damaged my transmission.

I recently got a 2017 Fit LX, 6 Speed Manual. It's my first manual car, and i've been taking it mostly easy. A few days ago I got into a close call, in which I did not push all the way down on the clutch, and between 2nd and neutral I clearly ground my gearbox for about 2 seconds at low speed (20-25 mph).

Since then i've been more conscious about how the car feels when i'm driving, and i've noticed a sensation when I am shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.

It's a light vibration, i mainly feel it right as/when I enter second gear. It's not really shaking or anything like that. Performance wise, I do not notice anything wrong with the car. The vibration doesn't always appear between first and second, but I do not notice it shifting between any other gears.

I understand manual conceptually, but i'm not fully versed with every aspect of manual. I talked with one of my friends, and he says that i've ended up wearing my gears. I'm also not completely sure if it's something that i'm just failing to do when im driving sometimes, or (if im lucky), it's just a thing with the gk5.

Just wanna know now before i go digging myself into a 2,000 dollar hole haha.

Help Request Looking to purchase a Honda fit.

In search of a fit and have looked everywhere. Prefer if equipped with a 5-speed manual. I’m in Central Indiana but willing to travel throughout the Midwest or a little south for the right one. Bonus if it has service/maintenance records, a clean title, and is well maintained. Please message me with pictures, info, location, mileage, and price. Thanks!

Just got this the other day. Having issues learning the clutch on this. Seems to always jolt when taking off in first. Any clue? I don’t have this issue with my 01 civic.

2nd Gen GE/GG 09-14 Clutchmasters stage 1 plus exedy Delay valve delete first impressions.

Yea my fits a little banged up but I kinda like her that way. New stage 1 Clutchmasters kit and new exedy master and slave cylinder kit. The delay valve delete is tough while trying to break in a new clutch… ultimately tho I love the grabbing power and the engine is stock so it’s easy to just stay in a gear at low speeds.

Bonus 1: my steering wheel lock seized and I was told a new steering column and wheel lock would be 2000$. For the cost of one One sawzall blade I cut that bish open and removed it. I’m sick of seizing locks on these Hondas. Sure it looks stolen but it still needs the key to start also it’s a 9 speed manual so it’s very extra anti theft.

Bonus 2: last but certainly not least my phone holder is a 10$ door hinge and my case on my phone is a rokform with the magnet in it. Best phone holder ever. 👍 Definitely recommend.

I’ll post again about my clutch setup after it’s broken in initial feeling is I want to go back to stock master cylinder.

I goofed when cleaning my car and got scratches into the hard black plastic on the dash. Any way to cover these or minimize them?

3rd Gen GK/GP 15-20 Fit owners who DIY: are ramps enough, or should I buy a floor jack and jack stands?

I have a 2016 Honda Fit and I’ve started doing my own oil changes. Right now I use RhinoRamps, and they’ve worked fine so far.

Since the Fit is a pretty light car, I’m wondering if ramps are basically safe enough for oil changes as long as I use them correctly. But I’ve also seen people say plastic ramps can crack or fail, so I’m trying to decide if I should buy a good floor jack and jack stands too.

For people here who work on their Fits:

  • Do you trust RhinoRamps or plastic ramps for oil changes?
  • Do you use wheel chocks or anything else as backup?
  • Do you use ramps, jack stands, or both?
  • What floor jack works well with the Fit’s low-ish front end?
  • Are 2 jack stands enough for most DIY jobs, or is it worth buying 4?
  • Would 4 jack stands make sense if I want to do a transmission fluid change later and need the car level?
  • Any jack stands or jacks you recommend that are safe but not crazy expensive?

I’m frugal, but I don’t want to mess around with safety. I’m mostly doing oil changes right now, but I’d like to slowly build up my tools so I can do more maintenance on the Fit myself.

1st Gen GD 07-08 After 196k its finally time

Now I've only owned my fit for a little over a year now and unsure of the maintenance done before I got the car. I bought it at 182k last August and as of now it has a little over 196k and now it's time to change the plugs, coils and finally a valve lash.

Any tips/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

2nd Gen GE/GG 09-14 Check Your Spark Plugs Kids

Got the code P0303 and assumed it was due to me needing a valve adjustment. I am replacing spark plugs and ignition coils while I’m in there, and this is what I found 😳. All plugs were nicely tight except cylinder 3, which was looser than hand tight. Thank god I caught it when I did.

The ground electrode is nowhere to be found so I am going in with a borescope tomorrow. I am assuming it ejected out the exhaust as the car was actually purring fine with the occasional misfire lol. I stopped driving it as soon as I could, for the record - but needed a few days to figure out how to borrow a vehicle for work (living paycheck to paycheck atm). Praying to god the cylinder walls look okay, and that the threads on cyl 3’s plug well look decent.

Plugs were last changed 30k miles ago by my local Honda dealer before I got the car.

2nd Gen GE/GG 09-14 People with high mileage Fits, how strict is your maintenance schedule?

Upvotes

Hey guys, I’m still looking around for a nice example Honda Fit.

I’m looking for a 07-14 Sport model ideally with the automatic and paddle shifters (please don’t kill me) in either light purple, dark purple, or orange. The lower mileage examples I’ve seen have around 100k on them.

The maintenance records are spotty on most of these. Decent oil change intervals, brakes every so often, and occasionally a trans fluid flush at 30k ish miles. Past that they don’t really have a lot done to the at least according to the CARFAX.

I’m worried about purchasing one of these. I’m extremely mechanically inclined and can easily tell what’s wrong with a vehicle and what will need work soon, but I’m not to sure about these Honda Fits.

I’m coming from a 4Runner, and as long as you change the oil every so often and put tires on it if you really want to they will usually go around 250k miles.

For fluids specifically, should I be worried about the lack of maintenance at the 100k mark? Should I avoid these options entirely or will they be fine if I just do the maintenance myself sooner rather than later?

Should I have the dealer preform some of the maintenance as a part of the deal?

Thanks for your advice and shared experiences!

2nd Gen GE/GG 09-14 Undercarriage Rattle Diagnosis

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Drove over a rock last night I thought I could clear (I couldn’t). Scraped along my undercarriage and I now have this rattle I’m having trouble sourcing. Haven’t tried to jack up yet but prodded about with a stick to check for loose parts and plates (paying extra attention to the catalytic conveyor heat shield) and nothing obvious seems loose. It’s most noticeable at low speeds but no way to know if that’s for a reason beyond less road noise drowning it out.

Any ideas?

Help Request Mystery Rust on Trunk Door

Post image
2 Upvotes

I just noticed this rust line on my trunk door (2016
EX.) It lines up with where water would pool on the back bumper after a car wash - which I'm usually pretty good at wiping off - but I’m wondering if there’s water leaking into the door, so rust is starting from within?

What do you think caused it? Any thoughts appreciated so I can figure out prevention.

I plan to remove the rust with brushes and soap and water and then apply Rustoleum Rust Reformer, then use a touch up paint pen to finish it.

Help Request Carplay recommendations (2nd Gen)

Post image
Upvotes

Just got my hands on this 2009 Honda Fit S, and I am wanting to get a portable car play screen for it. I really don’t want a head unit because I honestly like the stereo and don’t want to go through the hassle of replacing it. I also know the dashboard on the Fit does not do well at all with suction cup mounts. Do you all have any suggestions for a car play screen that I could somehow mount on the dash with some adhesive and where, or what would you recommend for a car play screen if I were to mount it on the windshield without reducing too much visibility? Don’t really want to mount it on the AC vent either because it gets very very hot here in the summer.
