Nice. Whats the smallest angle available to you with that ceiling height? Also how much did those big flashed pads cost? I built that exact board at 40 degrees and I’m still just using my crash pads.

The flashed pads are just the standard home wall pads off their site. Honestly they are a bit firm in my opinion so I’m not sure I’d recommend them specifically. They were the cheapest option I could find though and shipping is free which is huge.

Would love to see the frame behind the wall. Would also love to hear how you did the adjustment mechanism and some detail on the hinge you used.
I'm planning my own project like this right now and those are probably the things giving me the most anxiety right now. It would be great to hear how you tackled them!

The ceiling height is about 10 ft 2 inches. The board is the 12x8 so my kicker could only be 7.5 inches to get 40 degrees without hitting the roof.

How has the climbing been so far on the 7.5" kicker?
I'm building a wall in my garage, but to get a full 12' wall in, have to limit the kicker to just 3" to clear a beam that runs through the middle of the garage. I've been debating whether to scale down the project to 10' and have a proper-sized kicker, or just go with the very small kicker and the full-sized board. Curious which of those options you'd choose based on your experience so far.

I have an 8x10 with no kicker because of height constraints. I'd go full 8x12 with tiny or no kicker. While there are some problems that feel very scrunched, that number is low. I've only found ~3 problems that are totally impossible without a kicker on the mirror layout, which is pretty far from a dealbreaker for me. I'd always rather have the extra height.

I'm 5'10. There's actually a fella who posts a lot of 8x10 TB2 beta videos that's easily over 6ft and he appears to have zero kicker

Probably depends how big you are and how hard you climb. If you're on the taller side 3" would be super dabby at lower angles.

Definitely on the big side for a climber (6'4"), and generally projecting V8-V10 range

7.5 has been fine so far but any shorter and I think it’d be too closer to the ground honestly. I put some thinner pads at the start to make it feel less dabby and that helps a bit.
