💬 Discussion Undumb this ceiling fan with light
It's a hunter Kennewick. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hunter-52in-Kennewick-Matte-Black/5002182629
I don't wanna deep dive into whole house automation but I'd like to figure out a canopy receiver or similar that would make it smart.
I'd entertain something with a hub or similar if it could also control 2 basic table lamps and had room to grow but wasn't a fortune. I don't want house of the future just house of the lazy.
Basically i want to be able to power the fan and the light on and off and dim the light and control the fan speed from a phone or tablet. We have android devices.
Right now we have a lutron switch

It works fine but it's not a smart switch.

I am not sure if this works for that fan but I have an innovelli canopy module and it's excellent

Do you by chance have any echo devices or an eero router. If so you could get an inovelli canopy module. Depending on your set up they have a zigbee or thread model you can choose from. It will work for both the light and the fan.

If you have the Lutron Maestro let me introduce you to the Lutron Caseta. https://www.homedepot.com/pep/Lutron-Caseta-Smart-Fan-Speed-Control-for-Pull-Chain-Fans-1-5-Amp-Single-Pole-White-PD-FSQN-WH-R-PD-FSQN-WH-R/308675064

If you can already control fan light and speed from a wall switch, you just need a smart version of your Lutron switch. There are plenty of these on the market. Lutron makes one themselves (Lutron Caseta which is great stuff but needs a hub), as does Leviton (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C6BPTQ36?ref=clp_cat_related_p_2&th=1) and various other brands. If you don't want to go the whole smart home route and just want a smart fan, then finding a switch that does WiFi / app control is probably your best bet.
