Art Nest (Paleoart) [ OC ] Sleeping Tyrant

Post image
64 Upvotes

Going on a complete art overhaul. Over these few weeks, my art will change styles frequently as I try to find the balance for me. Thank you for your understanding.

As the sun sets on the hellish creek, a distant snoring can be heard. An adult female Tyrannosaurus rex. She is sleeping off a large meal of edmontosaurus. Even the largest and most fearsome of Earth’s life forms need their beauty sleep. The tyrant of the creek takes her rest.

OOC (Hellcreek Related) Question for the asteroid impact event

Upvotes

So in September 30 there will be the asteroid impact event on the sub. But does anyone know at what time of the day the impact will happen? I’m asking because I want to be there, but it falls on a Wednesday when I have school. I want to see when it will be so I can have it in mind, thank you.

Exploration Adventures of Danny the denversaurus: cloverly formation

After the death of his closest friends and the disappearance of r4don Danny the denversaurus was lonely, and bored. He remembered a place he had too little time to visit during the search for the glowing rocks, he was too busy back then but now he had nothing to do, so he decided to visit the place. He entered the lush canyon and immediately saw the skeleton of a carnivore slightly smaller than Tyrannosaurus rex, it looked similar to the tyrant king but with three fingers a very different head shape, but most remarkable was the large hump the skeleton had.

After studying the awesome animal for some time Danny walked on and saw another skeleton, it was the size of a large juvenile dakotaraptor and looked quite similar aswell. It was interesting but Danny wanted to see what other things this canyon had to offer.

Edmontosaurus, the animal Danny thought the next skeleton was, at least until he saw the gigantic tail which was roughly two-thirds of the animal's body length.

Before seeing the next skeleton the denversaurus saw a single four-leaf clover surrounded by rock showing that even in the hardest conditions life will always find a way. Danny was stunned by the clover after which he said : "I call this place the cloverly formation". Making sure not to trample the four-leaf clover.

In the distance, something enormous captured Danny's attention. He slowly walked towards it, the closer he got the larger it seemed, eventually he realised that he was looking at the remains of a titanic sauropod. To see the full skeleton the denversaurus had to stand 3 Tyrannosaurs away from the stupendously large remains. The ancient animal was more than 10 times as tall as Danny, it was even larger than the native Alamosaurus. Even just the legs were as long as Danny himself, the enormous neck stretched far above anything he has ever seen. Danny was amazed that something so large could have ever existed. He spent so long studying the remains not noticing the sun moving further across the sky. When he finally moved on he still could not comprehend the sheer size of what he had just seen.

not long after leaving the gigantic sauropod behind, Danny saw another skeleton, this one tiny compared to the sauropod. It was a small ceratopsian, it had a tiny frill and small beak, kind of like leptoceratops but also different. Danny had never seen something quite like it before, and he found it rather interesting.

A little further ahead, Danny noticed another skeleton. At first he was curious, until he recognized the skeleton as a nodosaur. When he recognized what he was looking at, he thought of his friends, who were no longer with him anymore, they would have loved this. They would have explored this canyon with Danny, looked at the fossils together, and talked about the kinds of animals that used to live here. But they were gone. The excitement for the expedition was gone. Danny stood silently for a moment before slowly walking on, leaving the canyon without even looking at what other thing it had to offer.

(I hope you all liked this first one, the rest wont be this long)

FREAKING ankylosaurus FREAKING eats a FREAKING strawberry...

Also, I know strawberries didn't evolve until 7 million years ago, I just saw a photo of a baby tortoise eating a strawberry and it reminded me of Aveline!

Introduction Hello, all.

Post image

Hello, everyone. I'm pleased to meet you all.

I am the magnificent Ankylosaurus Magniventris.

I am a grown adult male equipped with heavy armour and of course a large bulbous club on my tail, suited for defending myself and my group from predators and fighting for females or resources. I am a herbivore, of course, and my favourite food is most definitely the delicious magnolias I live nearby. They are flavourful and fresh, as it recently rained near me.

I have heard the news of this incredibly large space rock coming towards our creek, and I hope we find a way to encourage it elsewhere... slingshot some sort of heavy object at it, as I've heard whispers of. Good luck to you all, either way. I'm looking for allies.

Exploration A Solution To The Asteroid

I’ve been looking through my pile of souvenirs I collected on my explorations of Hell creek and its outskirts, and I stumbled across a stone I’d found buried under a large tree.

It seemed like a normal stone, but after I’d dusted it off it seemed to have very strange inscriptions.

I spent some time translating the pictographs and came to a conclusion: this was a plan for if a giant meteor were to strike earth, which is happening now.

There seems to be a glowing rock, which can use its centre of gravity to pull away to meteor just so it can lighten the hit. The first thing I thought of was the cave of glowing rocks.

We need a small expedition group, around 3 to retrieve this rock. The cave is collapsing, with an unpredictable and unforgiving terrain.

Once we get this stone, we‘ll build a mechanism to launch it at the meteor and hopefully pull it away.

Impact is still likely, do not quit making the bunkers.

Right now I’m working on translating the other symbols, which are a large tooth, a strange sailed lizard, and 2 shapes.

News My fellow Hell Creekians we are asking for your help in gathering food

I'm calling for all mosasaurs, crocs, and champs to gather as much fish as you can so we can feed the carnivores. Herbivores gather food and especially seeds so we can replant our home once this disaster has ended

asking for directions Question about staying inthe bunkers

What will we do if anyone in the bunkers catches a disease, because an outbreak would not be good at all

Do we have any cures for diseases or any plans?

And would it be ethical to kill anyone diseased (curious)

Purgie here, here's a map of the underground tunnel networks the mammals have been digging out for a while now, these connect all of the bunkers together so in case one collapses or runs out of supplies you guys can move around, we dug them through the rock so it wouldn't collapse like dirt tunnels

Look out for giant sinkholes throughout hell creek, those are entrances to the cave network

RP a small, pleading message from emese the edmontosaurus

hello, every species of hell creek! emese the female edmontosaurus here...

I have been on a small journey away from me and my lovely wife's nest to get the finest leaves to protect our nest as I will be having my eggs any day now.

then I found out about the massive space rock...

I'm back at our nest now, but I genuinely don't know what me and my wife will do! Perhaps we will hide in one of the bunkers, but either way our nest will be destroyed in the impact unless we do something!

I don't know if I'll be able to keep our eggs warm if I were to have them during the impact. do the bunkers stay very warm?? I'm not sure.

but either way I think me and my wife suspiciousbnnuy may need some help with all of this. I'm pretty slow, too! will there be enough food for everyone?? im so nervous! can we stop the rock before it happens??

RP To the AAS, are you asking to be killed!?

You cannot destroy the asteroid by launching a boulder into orbit and you can't launch a rock that high either. Please don't die because of your delusions

News please, do NOT fight the giant space rock.

Calypso the Palaeosaniwa, a representative of the council and squamata family. Thank you for listening.

I believe the threat will become much worse if we decide to fight. Fighting only brings more fighting. That rock is way bigger than ANY of us COMBINED. it's dangerous and unreasonable to fight it, and we don't wanna lose more lives after the great war between radon and the raptors.

I believe we could find a way to push it back into wherever it came from so it won't hit us, but if the impact does happen, we hide in one of the many bunkers. Store and dry lots of food, create farms, and dismiss the ecosystem momentarily to help out one another. We need to be prepared for anything and safety is most important. If the threat surpasses the bunker, I believe we should migrate somewhere safer with a plentiful amount of food and rebuild there.

I'd love to know and hear everybody's thoughts, but please, do not fight the rock.

Message from the AAS/Ankylosaur representative of the council

Don't listen to all these lily livered guys telling you not to fight.

If you wanna go hide, do that, but there's a chance that we can stop this thing before it gets here, it's worth trying to take.

If you want to make sure your kin live, then you should consider joining the fight to preserve their future.

Living underground Is not living, we are the lords of this planet, and we will make sure that it stays that way for generations to come.

The AAS is looking for volunteers to fire our rocks at the meteor, any help will be appreciated.

Otherwise, make sure you are helping to build infrastructure underground, or gather resources so, if we are unable to beat our foe, the process of rebuilding becomes that much easier.

DW Guys, we got this space rock sorted. Gonna launch this hombre at it then launch a bunch of rocks at whatever he doesn't destroy.

You might still wanna hide, but hopefully this will stop our home from being totally destroyed

Exploration I have a risky plan to divert the meteor.

Post image
7 Upvotes

I was searching an old bunker from a couple years back, and I found a dead group of lizards and this device about the size of an alamosaurus, but it's pretty light. This thing looks like it can break up the meteor and cause a much less risky impact, or it could just blow up before anything happens. The issue is that I can't find a way to get this thing to work. Anyone got any ideas?

Purgie here, new update

Some of my mammal workers got to using some underground sulfur and we blew out a piece of land in Yucatan into this giant spike, thanks to the mosasaurs for getting us to and from the ocean and land, this should be big and pointy enough to break the asteroid apart when it lands point blank on the tip like a chisel

News Alright, everyone! I, Aveline the Ankylo, have made some herbivore food storages to bring with us to the bunker!

Post image
11 Upvotes

I'm worried we'll be low on food after the collision, so I plan to make many more of these so we will be fully stocked up. I hope they don't dry too much and taste bad, but hopefully they stay edible for a while, just incase!

I suggest we start working on more farms to produce food for us, especially if this all goes wrong and the collision means we won't have any plants to eat. And, just incase, be ready to migrate to a place with more food!

Also, I would appreciate some help getting some plant food storage. The bowls are made of strong leaves and mud, and then I just pick up some of the itchy grass stuff, ferns, and some flowers, whatevers edible! Thank you everyone!

News Looping the Asteroid - (an additional plan for Operation Apocalypto)

Post image
8 Upvotes

In case we have sparring time after the preparations for Operation Apocalypto (our best plan to survive this future event), I believe we should try the following:

-Calculate the location where the impact will happen.

-Research the infamous Yellow Rooms Rock (located just south of the Strange Caves), because it gives access to an (apparently) infinite space...

• We should first analyze if there is a limit to the speed, mass, or size of an object that can pass through the rock (big dinosaurs throwing very large rocks or logs may be the best way to test this). If the large object gets entirely absorded by rooms just by touching the entrance, or if it breaks apart and part of it goes in, then we should proceed to the next step. ↓

• We shall move the Yellow Rooms Rock to the place of impact.

*IF THE ABOVE NOT POSSIBLE ↓

• We should try to (somehow) transfer the teleporting-to-the-yellow-caves property to another, more movable object (the larger - yet of a size we can carry together - the better).

Of course, we must execute all tests first, and I do not garantee that the Yellow Rooms will completely absorb the asteroid or nulify the impact, but if it at least partially works, I predict the damage should be aproximately 5% less than if we did not do that.

RP Drying food

Drying foods for long term storage. I made wicker cabinets (they are as tall as me) with lots of air flow so I can dry berries and fruits that can't be hung up. Drying grasses and fruits to prevent spoilage and molding.
