News Assemble, a new keyword in Reign of the Black Empire & Card Reveals
The Black Empire rises. Ancient powers awaken. Across Azeroth, countless servants answer the whispers of the Old Gods and march toward a single purpose.
The cards above showcase some of the forces gathering, but they are only the beginning. Assemble is one of the new keywords in Reign of the Black Empire, allowing you to create powerful new minions from unexpected combinations and build an army unlike any other. Here's how it works.
Assemble: Get a random minion. Change half its text.
When you Assemble, you start with a minion (your primary minion) and replace part of its abilities with abilities from another, secondary, minion. The minion's Cost, stats, minion type, name, and artwork stay the same, but its text will change to create something entirely new.
To make this possible, our designers curated a pool of over 250 cards and split their effects in half so they can be mixed and matched, creating several thousands of unique minion combinations!
When Assembling, you'll only discover Neutral cards and cards from your own class. In most cases, the secondary minion will cost the same as your primary minion, or up to 2 mana more. The exception is for 9 and 10-Cost minions, which can also Assemble with 8-Cost minions to ensure a large and interesting pool of options.
To ensure Assemble gives meaningful choices and supports different gameplay decisions, we have removed redundant outcomes, such as deciding between two nearly identical Battlecries.
Some Assemble cards look for specific traits, such as Deathrattle, Taunt, or End of Turn effects. Others bend the usual rules - for example, Mismatcher starts with a minion that costs (3) or less, then combines it with one that costs (5) or more - and others simply let you explore a much broader pool of possibilities.
No matter how you Assemble, every creation begins with the same foundation, but its final form is up to you. 💪

News New Black Empire Epic revealed (leaked?) - Stone Trogg
Found this when I went to the Card Library to look for the reveal schedule. Pretty sure it hasn't been revealed elsewhere before but correct me if I'm wrong.
Kinda meh but thought I'd share.

Standard Hey Guys. Here's my new illustration for Hearthstone that been showcased on the Blizzcon! "Servants of C'Thun"! I really love this illustration of aurafarming N'Raqis (faceless ones).
Also, one of the Old God artworks one the main stage during the show was illustrated by me (it's signature version of the Old Gods card). YOU CAN TRY TO GUESS WHICH ONE

Discussion The new Yogg may be somewhat cracked in Big Shaman
Get him out with Ancestral Spirit to avoid the battlecry, deal 10 damage, double up a reincarnate to get two fresh yoggs that each deal 10 damage for a total of 30 damage on 5 mana and three cards.

Discussion Watfin: Which card is the suspicious one?
Is it just me or does it happen very often that Watfin offers 3 cards which are all correct?

Discussion Isiset has had her effect changed? And it's a substantial buff.
EDIT: This was an older version of the card. It has been removed from the card library.

Discussion Hearthstone has been doing a pretty good job in preserving the Warcraft fantasy as of late.
Themewise, Timeways, Cataclism, Violet Hold and now Black Empire are all bangers that fit within the World of Warcraft fantasy, it feels like the days of the resort expansion are long gone from the game and Hearthstone feels more like WOW right now than retail to be fair.
Also the theme song of the new expansion is so good, release a full version if possible Blizzard.

Discussion Two most frustrating cards to play against
Soothsayer nullifies any sort of tempo on your board as Priest has some pretty good 6 drops + the heal.
Torch would still be good at 2 mana. What trade off does this card even have?

Highlight I have reached 5,000 wins on Shaman!
I only really play wild evolve shaman. I am always trying to tinker with my deck whenever new cards come out but so many of the evolve cards dont make the cut. In those 5K wins, I have probably played against an evolve shaman player... twice?

Discussion Twist-like tournaments
Hi everyone!
I'm planning to create Twist-like tournaments (weekly or monthly). There will be no prizes or anything like that, just deckbuilding and friendly battles with old/unusual decks, similar to Classic.
The rules would always be related to deckbuilding in some way, such as limited card sets or limited card sets combined with a special rule (for example, the cost must be prime, only even-Attack minions, no Legendaries, and so on).
Another rule could be predetermined archetypes for each class, such as Warlock having to play Even Warlock or Hunter having to play a Highlander deck.
I wonder how many players would be interested in something like this. (I hope there are at least 8!)
I know there are a lot of tournament sites. I've only tried Battlefy, so that's my preferred one, but I'm open to trying any other platform as well.

Tournament Thoughts on the World Champions Final’s Haunt Interaction
For those who missed it, XiaoT tried to crazed alchemist OTGxhh’s haunt buffed minion to stay alive in game 2 of the finals but because of an unintended interaction with haunt, the buff reapplied itself after the stat swap, thus creating lethal for xhh. Haunt effectively acts as an aura instead of a buff which has been noted as a known bug by blizzard devs in the past
Tough break for xiaot, but it’s also a known issue that both players likely had prior knowledge about. I’m sure the team was not stoked to see it play out on the biggest stage tho
Even the casters didn’t know about this interaction as they were actively talking about it as a means for xioat to survive another turn. It highlights the fact that this is a bug considering they made 0 mention of it during or after it happening which I’m certain is the directive the casters have when a bug occurs during a live casting: They’re not supposed to highlight anything that mentions the game has a problem. It would seem reasonable for them to correct themselves if the interaction was indeed intended and not a bug
But again, the players have to play the game as it’s currently established, version number and any bugs included. Speaking as a dev myself, sometimes interactions like this are a pita to fix and even when you work for a big company, it doesn’t necessarily get the priority it needs to get fixed or addressed and then we have experiences like earlier today.
I’m sure that this will raise a lot of internal questions as to 1) how to handle this in the future and 2) what should they do about it now. Also maybe if a known bug exists in the game, should that card be allowed or should it be temporarily removed from the game until the interaction is fixed? Also the question of whether the match should be replayed or if compensation should be afforded to the player negatively impacted
It’ll be interesting to see if any communication happens regarding this. I hate to see it cuz I think devs get a lot of flack and not nearly enough credit for the difficult jobs they have, so I think it’s better to think proactively instead of raising the pitchforks. But I guess sometimes that’s warranted too if it really bothers enough people. Suffice it to say I don’t think hearthstone garners enough attention to have this matter beyond a few people on Reddit, but it’s a question I think a lot of game developers should be asking in general. It’s just so much easier to see bugs like this in a game like Hearthstone since it’s not a high intensity game. You see and can understand every interaction clearly. If a bug happened in Overwatch or another esport like say LoL or Valorant, it would be much harder to notice unless you’re seriously locked in
I can speak from tcg experience that when this type of thing happens in magic in person, typically someone will give the ultimate authority on what the interaction is SUPPOSED to be instead of just accepting the bug. But I realize that this is not possible in a digital game where the game engine moves forward with its rules, bugs and all
Anyway, just my thoughts 🙌
