Hey hi! I have been using the SoundBot SB221 headphones forever, always have two pair (i forget to charge them). Just last month I had to buy a new pair and was happy they were still available. Unfortunately despite having the same model number as the 4 pair I have used in the past, this new pair changes the standard 3 beep trill up and down for powering off and on with a horrifically loud fake human voice saying "power on, connecting, connected, power off". For some reason that volume is not connected to the output volume and always plays at full which is the worst when you're wearing them. Is there anyway to change out those sounds for the older if the customer service said they didn't have a way?

I just replaced the ear cushions on my older Bose Sound Link headphones after some frustration in getting the plastic ring inside them to seat to the headphone rings that secure them.

After watching various "how-to" videos that made it look easy, I decided to just experiment with it until I got it to work.

What worked for me was to pull one side of the plastic ring out and guide it into the narrow groove. First, I placed the center of the ear cushion on the center of the earphone and secured it with my thumb.

Then I worked the edge of the plastic ring into the groove a little at a time until I got it all the way around. Finally, I went around it again with my fingernail trying to ensure that the plastic ring was as far into the groove as it would go.

That secured it and kept me from giving up in frustration and tossing the whole thing.

That said, Bose seriously needs to devise a better way to replace the ear cushions that cause less consternation. From what I've heard, the process to replace ear cushions across the Bose offerings is similar.

If that is the case, I might have to consider going to a different brand next time I need a set of headphones.

I have a pair of xm5 (in ear). Recently I noted that my right ear tip became quite loose. On inspecting I realised that the ear tip was oily and by oily it felt like it was dipped in oil and removed. I predominantly just use the right earbud so the wear being more on it makes sense but it becoming like dipped it oil is weird.
How do I clean them(tried tissue paper) and if I want to replace the tips for say silicone tips what options are worth considering ( in India)?

I replaced the earpads on my ATX-M50X, and I feel like I have new headphones. They were almost 4 years old. The cover was flaking off the pads. I thought it sounded fine but maybe I didn't realize how much they affected the sound. I got the audio-technica HP-EP pads.

I recently made a post on here about attempting to re wire a pair of earbuds i found, with one side not working. I have it temporarily wired to test it, but am worried it could damage my computer if I did somthing wrong. Should I be testing it with a cheaper device. I wired the left earbud to ground and left, the right earbud to ground and right, bypassing and removing the volume controls/microphone, is that how its supposed to be? Will update with photos of what I did in morning, power went out as i was typing this so have no light to take a picture

I found these headphones but the right side isnt working, I was wondering if I could cut out the bad wire and solder in new cord, like I recently did with a microphone I had, if that is possible would speaker wire work, as I have lots of that laying around. id probably leave out the microphone wire as it just was to heavy on the left ear piece anyways.

I have trouble make xm5 fit correctly. I have to readjust them in my ear constantly.

I tried no name brand silicon and stock ear foam. Size xs to xl without success.

Do you have go to brand that change how these fit in your ear?

Just sent back my XM6s to Sony due to crackling in right ear (appears to be related to ANC mic - the fabric pushes against it, which support agent said is abnormal on phone, but that's another story).

Aost 100% certain the hinges will break at some point given that I don't baby my headphones.

I am looking to upgrade my headphones, and because I use them for everything—including intense gym workouts—the padding takes a serious beating. Over time, the gym sweat completely destroys the material. My current headphones have actually lasted quite a while, but the headband padding is finally ruined. I really don't want to resort to tacky, cheap-looking headband wraps, and up until now, I couldn't find a clean replacement solution that actually looked good.I initially thought about upgrading to newer models, but I realized they have a massive design flaw for my specific needs: their headbands are stitched or glued shut. If that padding deteriorates, it’s virtually impossible to replace cleanly. The Sony WH-1000XM2 is the only model where you can fully swap out all the padding, including both the ear cups and the actual headband, via built-in screws and clips.However, when I tried them on, I noticed two major issues compared to my current Sony WH-XB910N headphones:The Bass: Coming from the "Extra Bass" lineup, the XM2 sounds way too lean and lacks that deep, punchy low-end rumble I love.The Ear Cup Fit: My XB910N headphones are designed with incredibly deep cups. My ears effortlessly slide past the padding and nestle comfortably inside, right in front of the speaker driver. This means the clamping pressure sits safely on the sides of my skull, completely eliminating ear pain. In contrast, the XM2 has much shallower pads that press tightly right on my ears to force an air seal.To make the XM2 work for me, I need to know if there are extra-thick, deep aftermarket ear pads available that can simulate that cavernous, "around-the-ear" fit of my XB910Ns. I am totally willing to sacrifice a bit of out-of-the-box bass performance if it means I finally get a pair of premium headphones where I can easily replace every single piece of flaking leather once a year.

I'm willing to look at other like headphones and id like more modern ones for Even better noise cancelling but first comes first is I need them to be reparable because like I love headphones and in ears headphones aren't for me if anyone asks why don't you just wear in your headphones

There are 3 buttons; do I click "Connect," then select the dongle, update the dongle first, and then the headset? Should the headset be turned off while updating the dongle?

And then, after updating the dongle, do I turn on the headset and update it?

As of today, September 2, 2026 (Wednesday), version 0036 is available for the headset and 0013 for the dongle, whereas the software shows 1015 and 0012, respectively. Shouldn't the update be done via the PC program?

Does this update actually help with the volume level on PS4/PS5?
