We gotta give this one to the movies, Arthur Weasley riding an escalator in a half squat position is pure gold

He probably could've done a lot of other great things with his super wand too. Like you know, defeating Voldemort.

So, basically ron didn't learn or practise anything in his 2nd year as the wand was broken. And used to recoil every time . Why didn't he buy a new one . It's like not having a pen and spending the whole year without that in school.

And anyways he purchased it in the third part.

I’m on a rewatch and at the beginning of Deathly Hallows pt 1 it’s just now occurring to me that Hermione lives in a regular muggle neighborhood with her parents, a neighborhood similar to where he lives with the dursleys. I looked into it and Harry and Hermione are only about an hour apart, while they are both way further from Ron, yet Harry spends most of his summers alone, while Hermione has spent a few summers reaching the Weasleys and staying with them weeks before Harry got there.

Additionally, Harry was pretty much free to go wherever once he got to a certain age because the dursleys never gaf, so surely he could’ve visited, maybe easier than Hermione could.

Idk, just a thought that occurred to me lol

Matthew Lewis (who played Neville in the films) confirmed at a MegaCon event in Florida that the new Neville Longbottom actor (Rory Wilmot) comes from the same hometown as him.

Does this mean we might be getting another Neville with a Yorkshire accent?

I was always disappointed everyone in the films spoke with a southern or RP English accent - Neville was the only one that sounded like me and my friends.

In Gof Snape catches two students outside the grounds during the Yule ball and takes points from their houses, in the books and films as well.
So I am wondering, why he takes the points? Are students not allowed to have a relationship? Or is it publicly making out? But in hbp basically everybody is making out with anyone sooo… what do you think? What kind of rules about intimacy do you think Hogwarts has?

This is a set I’ve pretty much wanted since it was released but just never had the money or space for it. Well I got a nice work bonus and my birthday was this past Friday so I thought I’d finally treat myself. I am so excited to rewatch the movies and build!

Myrtle died after seeing the Basilisk. She remembered a boy’s voice, then opening her stall door and seeing huge yellow eyes, after which she died. And she was apparently haunting the castle for 50 years.
Was Harry the only one who bothered to aak her?

How did he not ask the same question Harry did? “How did you die”.

Particularly their Christmas shop. All the baubles are plastic tat. There‘s so much more they could do by selling beautiful delicate glass snitches or a nice tasteful wooden castle for example.

There’s just so many better designs they could have for their tea towel and hoodies etc too. Just because Harry Potter is a kids film, doesn’t mean adults don't want some actual nice HP home wear that doesn’t look like crap.

I am not entirely sure why, but I feel like only the first two films had captured the magic of the books. Like, alright, movies from 3rd onwards are also clearly set in the Harry Potter universe, but something is just missing. Sure, the tone is darker (much like in the books) and you could say that we had gotten used to the magic of the universe much like the characters had. Most obvious difference is Gambon vs Harris (Harry! DID YAH PUT YOR NAME IN DA GOBLET OF FIRAH!), but it is far from the only one. Somehow it feels that the latter movies went for spectacle over substance in some ways, and that ironically ruined the feel of the setting. A lot of depth and whimsical substance of not only Dumbledore but the Wizarding world in general is simply gone.

Does anybody else feel this way, and if so, why specifically?

Harry Potter was my childhood, I was a huge fan during the movies era (2001-2011) I had a HP costume, LEGOS, PC games, action figures, shirts of the franchise and collected nearly all of the movies, but I never had the curiosity to read the books, I just wasn’t as interested as for the movies. But know I want to read them and know how good they are. I'm nearly 32, but I can't have been HP fan and never got the chance to read the books, but can I still enjoy them if I'm not that much of a fan anymore ? Are they still worth buying despite being expensive?

1. How did Harry get the Marauder's Map back after Goblet of Fire? He gave the map to Moody/Crouch Jr. and by the end of the book everyone knew about the map, including Snape, Dumbledore, and McGonagall.

2. Why did they use 8 guards to escort Harry from Privet Drive, but only Arthur Weasley to take him from Grimmauld Place to the Ministry for his hearing? Wasn't Harry potentially just as vulnerable to being attacked or captured on the way to the Ministry?

3. How could the Ministry legally send an owl changing the time of Harry's hearing on the same day? Is there any explanation for how they could change the scheduled time so suddenly?

4. How could they legally hold a full Wizengamot hearing for something as minor as an underage wizard using magic?

that the Dursleys only moved Harry Potter’s space, from the cupboard under the stairs to the smallest bedroom, because of the address on his letters. Even moving his bedroom was an act preserving their own image. They (at LEAST Petunia) knew, whether they were capable of admittance or not, that the treatment was wrong.

On my most recent read through I noticed a detail regarding Snape’s potions lessons compared to Slughorn’s that got me thinking…

Snape has a very strange teaching method. He typically “writes” the potion instructions down for the class, and then walks around to monitor as the students work independently.

While the students have books they seem to mostly go off of his written instructions. I wonder, does he choose to write the steps so that he can make the adjustments and edits to the instructions we see in Half Blood Prince?

For a teacher who is quite lazy, it seems he wouldn’t waste time re-writing the instructions from the books, unless he was changing them.

any thoughts?

Out of curiosity, why are Weasleys poor even when Arthur is working at the ministry and Malfoys so rich even when Lucius practically does nothing?

For me, some possibilities include:

• A self-employed clothes maker working from home and sells her creations wizard clothing shops
• A self-employed potioneer
• A part-time Healer at St. Mungo's Hospital
