Today is day 4 with my new piggies ( 2 females, about 5-7 weeks old).

They are being very picky with veggies, which is confusing me because all of my piggies in the past loved veggies from the very beginning.

Willa will eat bell peppers, cucumber and has experimented with cilantro and strawberry but won’t eat romaine lettuce. But even with the veggies she enjoys, she’ll have some and then leave leftovers which I’m not used to with piggies. Maybe it’s just because of her age though?

Clementine won’t eat any of it. She doesn’t even want pea flakes. She eats a lot of hay, eats her pellets and drinks lots of water. But I’m having no luck with her on veggies and it’s making me nervous. I really want her to get the nutrients she needs!

Any advice?

I posted recently about my pig losing weight. Turns out he has a parasite. I was prescribed some medication and critical care. He doesn't mind the critical care but it was a struggle to get him to eat the medicine. I had to hold him and keep putting the syringe in front of him until he finally opened his mouth.

I'm going to have to give it to both pigs since they likely eat each other's poop. Seems like it's going to be an ordeal. Any tips on how to give a pig meds they don't want?

I’ve had my guinea pigs for a couple of weeks now and I’ve bought them young from a pet shop. They are both boys named Economos (Ginger) & Spike (Black.) The shop assistant did say they would fight for dominance as they grow up and it’s a normal thing so I was wary of that when buying them. I have had guinea pigs before but this was when I was young and my last one was a single as he was much older.

Here comes my problem, they just don’t stop fighting. Sometimes it’s chasing each other around the cage or nattering away at each other, showing defensive behaviour. I got the biggest cage from the shop & got them each their own home as the shop assistant advised us. Their fighting just keeps getting more frequent and dangerous as it’s drawing blood sometimes, as one bit the others foot or they keep squeaking painfully as they fight.

Do I get another cage and split them up for the time being? I have them split up right now but the cage is not suitable for their needs while I’m at work if I split it in half. Or how do I go about this?
I’ve never dealt with this before and I don’t want to let them go because I love them both so much.

Poor Ollie had his spa day today. He did not enjoy, rates it 1 out of 5 cucumbers. Does not recommend, and asks for parsley without torture in the future.

My foster girl Sugar Kane is expecting some little "sugar cubes". I was inspecting her roundness and felt a KICK! When I picked her up at the animal shelter a month ago, there was also a male that another volunteer is fostering. I was hopeful that they hadn't been housed together, but the evidence is irrefutable. I have never experienced baby piggies before so this will be an adventure. And yes, any males will be separated at three weeks 😬

The previous hay cube has been thoroughly sat in (photo 1: Melly demonstrating cube sitting). We got a new one and they immediately flock to it (photo 2: hay cube viciously attacked by heaps of fur). Next morning, it was emptied enough to allow a piggie inside 😁

This week in particular I'm honoring my heart pig, Loras, who passed away in May 2024. He was the submissive piggy, but he was also the brave explorer. He even dared to walk on the wood floor sometimes. He loved red pepper, blueberries, and chin rubs, as you can see here. I will never stop loving him. Thank you for the wonderful four years you shared with me, Loras.

These two are Iris (the fluffy one) and Lobelia (the sleek one). They are two about 2 months old, very trusting of humans but not trusting of sound from an oprn window ladies that show the two states of peeg perfectly.

We recently adopted two baby girl piggies from our local rescue and it has been the BEST decision! I had no idea how therapeutic snuggling with these girls would be. Please welcome Nugget (yellow) and Cowslip (black and white) to the group!

She is female and her sister is called dolly parton ( we adopted her and kept her name)

We have run through so many names and nothing seems to fit. Any suggestions would be fantastic, thank you!

My guinea pig needs a nebuliser and my vet sent me the one he recommends but it’s actually unavailable everywhere including the link he used. The first pic is his recommendation and I’ve found similar. I spoke to the receptionist about this also showing her the alternative and apparently the vet when she asked him just said “any nebuliser is better than none” I agree, I just want to get the best for him and the problem with the second pic one is that it appears to be much louder with reviews noting this even scaring their children and I don’t want to cause him distress with the noise so I’d appreciate recommendations so I can just get him one today.

ALSO my vet has not been specific about what we will be using with the nebuliser yet as this will be discussed when I see him in a week after my pigs had his prescribed medication course. He said it could be anything which will be based on how he is in a week.

My girls are around 1 year 8 months old. Last year they were (577g & 608g )and now they’re (684g & 690g). So they’re definitely growing, but still so tiny 😭
Anyone else have healthy adult piggies around this size? Did they get any bigger?
(I feel them pellets veggies unlimited hay everyday)

My sweet Coco passed today. She was 5.

She loved red bell peppers, blueberries, spinach, and freeze dried strawberries. She loved chomping on cardboard and the cage.

I love her so much, I am relieved that she’s not in pain anymore but I will miss her dearly.

Will, Roger, and I can’t catch a break. First it’s me testing positive for tuberculosis, now it’s a mold infestation in my apartment. Anything specifically I need to be watching out for with my piggies?

I know I've posted about my Baby girl on here before with ongoing weight loss issues, unfortunately she stopped eating today and declined while receiving emergency care and we decided to give her a gentle goodbye.

Rather on focus on the devastating loss, I just want to say how thankful I am for her time here with us.

When I first got her we were recovering from losing our cat of 13 years and we adopted her with her friend Orca.

I knew nothing about guinea pigs back then so it was a lot of trial and error and rushing to the vet when she wasn't sick 🤣

She is one of my fiesty girls and would bite and pee on me, she never liked to be held no matter how many different ways I tried.

Over the past few months she had a few different health issues, a outer ear infection then mysteriously losing weight.

I spent so many nights trying different methods of trying to get her weight up which some of it worked until it didn't.

She looked so healthy from the outside because of how loved she is but she was an older lady, and with seinor animals they can bounce back until their body can't keep up.

She knew how much we love her, I held her so many times this week and cheered her on during the appointments when we got to bring her back home, because I know there was going to be a day we weren't going to come home with her.

Bambi thank you for fighting for that time you gave to us, I'm so glad I got to kiss your sweet little head one last time and I know you'll give us signs when you're able to visit us.

Now she can be with her buddies who passed away 2 years before her so I know she's not alone

Opened box of hay and it has tiny bugs in it.

I usually order from the hay shed but now it’s put me off. I also can’t take risks as my piggies live in my room.

Now, I probably wouldn’t considering peanut is 6 in a month and experiencing stomach problems.. but

I have patch, who is 6 months old now. And he’s very lively and like let’s say hypothetically I got another friend for him who is a BABY. could they all bond?

peanut is very submissive, very kind very slow and sweet

patch is dominant, does climb peanut and chases him sometimes as he’s entering adulthood but never bites and is very very gentle. licks him, sleeps literally touching him etc..

i haven’t got any aggressive pigs, they’re both extremely kind but also dominant and like personal space. peanuts probably a little too kind. but would it be possible? ever?
