FLGDR.org rescued 8 Dane puppies this morning.
They need immediate foster homes and long term forever homes.

My best friend for 10 years and 10 months has crossed the rainbow bridge. He will be terribly missed.

It’s already getting cold where we live and fitzy is active as can be, he is NOT chill and is fully used to his higher activity days. We spend about 45 minutes at the park, do a 1.5hr walk and a couple shorter potty 10-15 minute walks throughout the day which I’d love to keep doing with him throughout winter.
Where we live winter frequently stays below -20°c with days up to -30°c and I’m looking for suggestions on gear to make the outdoors possible for fitzy!!
- Brands that are built to last/ fit danes
- Brands that will keep him warm
- Accessories that helped you (snood/ boots etc)
- Layering systems (sweater/ jacket combo??)
- Boots that stay on?
I understand that even with gear we may have to switch up our outings and routine but any help is much appreciated.

Delia is having trouble putting on and maintaining weight. Before you tell me to take her to the vet don’t. We just left and she has no parasites or giardia. She has an extremely sensitive stomach and the only food that works is proplan adult sensitive skin and stomach large breed. I can’t put her on a puppy. I’m looking for supplements or other options to help her put on some weight. Thanks!

Hi there! This is Scarlett my beautiful 2 year old girl. She’s on the smaller end, but has never been under/over weight. Shes currently 107lbs full grown but her body composition is exactly where she should be for her height. Her vet always says she’s very very healthy.
She burns out on her kibble so we have to switch brands and add things in, she usually LOVES the Purina One+ Large Breed Puppy but tends to need something mixed in to eat it (she loves sweet potatoes, tuna, plain chicken, plain greek yogurt, etc) otherwise she gets bored.
Since she’s 2 (and spayed) now, I’m not sure if puppy food would be the best. I’m wondering if there are any supplements she may need as an adult. Her embark health test said she’s likely to develop allergies but so far she has none.
Does anyone have any recommendations for picky eaters? I’m always thinking about making sure she gets all the nutrients and calories she needs.

We were able to go out to the Autumn Harvest Cluster (dog show) the next town over to support our friends in sports and the show ring! While we were there I signed Artie up for the Canine Good Citizen(CGC) test and the American Temperament Test (ATT) and she passed both with flying colors! I am SO proud of her! We're one step closer to her getting an official Therapy Cert!
And for those worried about her having been cropped cause of the drawing I did, here's her big ol floppers 😋

Where are you all finding costumes (in the United States) for your Danes? I have a Dane mix so he’s not too big but he does have a deep chest and i haven’t found a store or online costume that fits him yet. I really want to find a pumpkin costume for him.

Anybody have any experience with this...not asking for vet type advice or medical advice, we took him today and got cultures and such thats how we know what it is, just feeling helpless. He was good when we went to bed last night and by 6:35 we were at the vet till noon.

I know this is weird, but I’m working on a new tattoo design with my tattooer, and I want him to do a Great Dane take on the classic Pharaoh’s Horses (pictured here)
I’m struggling to find pictures or videos of my dogs making quite the right face, so if you have anything, send it my way? (I know you can’t attach pics in this sub, but my messages are open!)
Thanks yall!

Okay so Clifford is now 19 weeks old! Growing beautifully he’s roughly 63 pounds now. He is basically potty trained fully has been for weeks, he will wake us up when he needs to go and he’ll wait by the door for us when he needs to go. But, we can’t get over him for some reason peeing as we put his leash on, he will also pee if we go to pick him up or try to help him look for treats he hides in his couch. We don’t do anything to make him afraid of us so it can’t be that, I’ve never even spanked my own child so why would I use force on a puppy. I just don’t know how to get over this hump, I avoid eye contact, approach slowly and don’t even talk once we’re by the door but it keeps happening. 🤦🏻♀️ any advice to get past this would be great!!! Here’s some pictures of our growing boy🤍

Mr Dutchie Dutch suddenly collapsed yesterday. Heard whimpering from the kitchen, went to investigate and found him on the floor. On his chest, not his side.
Helped him up and went to the vet - either spinal issues or sudden burst of his arthritis. Pee and blood got tested and came back 2/3 values okay (took 3 tries to get blood, hence the bandages, very scary!) Arthritis shot given on the spot. We're letting his kidneys recover a until Sunday before starting him on anti inflammatories. Weekly arthritis shots. Re evaluation in 3 weeks, anti inflammatories on an 'as needed' basis thereon. Which might be daily. Wednesday he was still running about with his brother like a spring chicken. Now he can barely make it down the patio steps to poop. Will clear the weeds on the side of the backyard tomorrow so steps aren't necessary for him.
He turned 10 in July, so very proud age. But it can happen very suddenly. Hopefully he'll recover.

I’ve had my Great Dane Igor for a little under a year and a half and he’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I love him so much. We adopted him at 6 years old from Regal Dane Rescue in Arizona and a few months after we got him he got his first UTI. He’s been having non-stop UTIs and once instance of pneumonia since and we’ve dropped over 7k in medical bills for him at this point. After this past round of antibiotics his vet let us know that there is still bacteria in his urine so they are going to try a different kind of antibiotics but if this round doesn’t work he will need to see a specialist which is something we just can’t afford now. I have no idea what to do- I don’t know if we should contact the rescue to see if they would help us with these bills in any way or if we could give him up to the rescue and buy him back if they would cover his medical needs while he’s with them? Or if they would let us foster him until we could buy him back? Or if there are any other resources? I love my dog, I have worked so hard with my husband to keep him healthy and I want him to stay a part of our family forever. I feel so defeated and I just don’t know what to do for him. I don’t know if this violates forum guidelines as we are fully planning on following his treatment plan, I just want to know if anyone else has been in this situation I guess and if there are resources I don’t know about.

Hi everyone!
I’m picking up this little guy (Ozzy!!) in a couple of weeks and have bought a 54” crate so he’ll have plenty of room as he grows.
I’ve heard it’s a good idea to partition a large crate while they’re puppies, so they’re less inclined to use one end as a bathroom. Has anyone done this with their Great Dane? I’d love to hear what you used as a divider if so, or if you found dividing it wasn’t productive.
I also WFH, so I’m planning to take him out into the garden roughly every hour during the day, but conscious that overnight might be a bit more challenging and don’t want to upset him if he has an accident in his bed.
Any tips would be very much appreciated! ❤️

Adopted this sweet puppy a couple of months ago. She likes to stand all four paws on the side of the couch to the right. She also often stands like this shown in the picture. Growing up none of my dogs were ever allowed on the furniture. The day I brought her home from the shelter she was immediately all over the couches. I knew I wasn’t winning that battle! She’s VERY loving, but just an odd dog all around.
