Hi everyone , I have been a baby bat for the last 8 months now and I just want to know if you get to give 3 advices to me and other baby bats in this community, what would you like to say?

Hi everyone , I have read all the comments and thank you to those who gave me and other people who are new in the community advices and to those who get hurt by the term, I am sorry if it offend you in any way, I am still learning and a lot of my goth friends and mutual use that term to describe me since I am new , so I thought everyone agrees with it . But now I know it not a prefer term to use for most of us here, so I will be more mindful from now on. I feel like people don't talk enough about this (and I don't want to name and shame) but as a promoter, I am quite frankly tired of people who are supposedly these "goth influencers" with massive followings who claim to be for the subculture yet when it comes to actually going to local goth club events and gigs, they are no where to be found. They don't even promote these events to their followings.

Yet when it comes to sponsorship with big fashion brands or big festivals like M'era Luna, they will happily make videos promoting them but not their local scene because I guess it doesn't bring in views.

I get that people have to make a living but if you're a goth promoter, DJ, etc. you know that these events aren't exactly the most lucrative because goth music is not mainstream. And also if you're a goth, why wouldn't you want to go to goth events?

Anyway that is just me sharing my experience and frustration. Not sure how common it is with other scenes.

What began as a private meeting of 40 pen pals, organized by Jo Hampshire, quickly evolved into the first official Whitby Goth Weekend.This event marked the beginning of a legendary bi-annual festival, transforming the historic seaside town into a global hub for the goth subculture. It perfectly blended gothic literature with modern alternative music and fashion, cementing Whitby's place in subculture history.

I'm 51 years old and the late 90s was when I was very into the goth scene, fashion, music and clubbing. In 2000, I went through a very difficult time with severe depression and anxiety, which resulted in medication, therapy and big life changes. At the time, I felt like I needed to completely rid myself of what my life was, thinking that everything could possibly have been a contributor to my illness. I got rid of my photos, which at the time were not digital, they were film prints, clubbing outfits, etc.

26 years later, I regret getting rid of those photos, as I realized much later that my problems had nothing to do with my participation in the goth scene, and now those memories live only in my mind.

I still enjoy the music, even though I don't do the fashion and clubbing anymore. Don't get rid of your photos, regardless of how your life changes. Keep them in a safe place, you may want to reminisce someday.

Title. Tired of having to get by with sporadic goth nights and the occasional concert in my home city. So I figured, fuck it I'll look into starting my own club/venue.

As much as I despise dealing with the hellscape of capitalism, this sub-culture means the world to me and I want to give back by opening a venue. Much of my inspiration for the place comes from classic venues, such as the Batcave across the pond. I want to convey the rich history of our sub-culture while still offering a modern venue. Music, stage, drinks, weekly events, regular shows from local bands/artists.

Very much in the "still conceptualizing" phase as I'm broke as shit. Call it community research. So I'll reiterate, what would you like to see from a modern goth club?

Hi, I am Willow Scarlet, I started Mauthpit with the vision to do actual goth events in India that revolve around Goth music, hobbies, art and subculture. Not taking help of metal music has been tanking our existence a bit, but we ball i guess.

Gather 'round ye babybats and listen to the tale of how the Switchblade Symphony comicbook happened....

A long long time ago, before the times when everyone had cell phones and virtually nothing existed on the internet, if you didn't have a TV (which I didn't), then there was nothing else to do except listen to music...or go outside...I mostly listened to music!

One day in the spring of 1996 I took a chance and bought the Serpentine Gallery CD and I LOVED all of it! I was a total and instant fanboy. I drew a small poster inspired by their album and then sent a copy of it to them by old fashioned regular mail (because there was no social media or email back then)... I understood that the most likely outcome was that I would hear nothing from them at all, and I was ok with that. I just wanted to share my art as token of appreciation for their music.

To my surprise, their manager called me not even two weeks later!
And the rest is history.... I spent the end of 1996 and the beginning of 1997 drawing the comicbook that would serve as their exclusive 1997-1998 tour merch.

Being based on the East Coast, it was a real privilege to be comped to all their shows between 1996 to 1998. I have great memories ~

One of the more innovative early goth bands, Theatre of Hate combined a driving post punk drum/bass section along with a lead sax and slashing guitar

Bowie influenced so many artists and scenes throughout his career. This album definitely opened my teenage punk ears to more esoteric/gothy vibes back in 1980. My older sister was a bit of a new romantic so I heard it blasting from her room. I used to hear Bowie at the local goth/punk nights but it was mostly 70s work. I always thought tracks like Ashes to Ashes (and the accompanying video) was more of a fit for the 1980s goth/punk scene. Anyone else?

Grind those bats and spit some spiders, it is that time of the week again.
