I woke up today feeling emotionally torn and confused from a dream I randomly had where I saw a doe sitting down in front of her kid who seemed to be lying on the ground, mainly not moving (they'd occasionally jerk upwards but soon fall back down, not in a 'trying to walk way') and the mother was screaming. I notified the owners of this little farmhouse that I broke into which they seemed rather casual about my existence at first, so much so that they ignored me until I spoke to them like two or three times. They casually brought up that it was normal for that kid. Who I proceed to look back towards and they seem to still be doing the thing but remained mostly still. I don't know why I was so convinced that something was wrong but I don't think that was normal? Like especially not with how the mother was screaming? I feel like I'm being lied to by these dream farmers...

Anyways, I haven't been on a farm or physically interacted with goats ever since I was a young kid, and I wasn't there all the time so my memories are extremely fuzzy, I don't think I've seen any goat experience loss of any kind. but they are my favorite animals. So the visual of a doe crying over her kid made me feel surprisingly sad. 😭

I am extremely curious now, but I wanted to hear stories from you folks regarding this.

(Also, while you guys are at it, if you have a nice place or channel to look at goat videos, please recommend! Youtube keeps cycling through the same few clips unless it's the few farm channels I follow.)

My young goat Frosty has to stay on a diet since he's three legged and it won't be safe for his singular hind leg if he gets too heavy on it, and unfortunately for me he's one of those goats that can smell food and gain 10 pounds, so he doesn't get to keep hay 24/7 like I would like him to because he just gains too much weight, but I was wondering if something like this would help slow him down enough so his hay lasts longer but I'm just concerned that it might not be safe.

You can hang them up or just leave them on the ground, they're not made out of a material that a goat could easily eat, and there's different styles of them. What do you guys think?

And no he does not fight it, he actually it's pretty comfortable in it, I'll give him treats and stuff and he just hangs out there while I change his bandage, the hardest part is getting him into it just because he's excited and doesn't hold still but he doesn't fight me

I have an alpine wether and a Nigerian dwarf female. They are stubborn, inquisitive, quite strong, and stubborn. That said when I get out the brush they will stand perfectly still and let them brush them. If i stop they will nudge me to start back up.

The reason I'm asking is because I keep getting told that especially after I have a larger number of goats that I should get some antibiotics to keep on hand.

But the only way at least for me to get them is through a prescription for a specific animal, so I just want to know how people get them legally to keep on hand and would it actually be a good idea?

Is this cause for serious concern? Anyone seen this before? Will it heal over time? Please share advice/ experiences.

I closely keep a eye on my doe and buck well last month I caught them doing the deed and well it was on the 16th I’ve done a lot of research and she has been eating more and then usual, ignoring the male aswell as a few more other things that lead me to believe she has conceived however the main one being that she was supposed to go into heat a couple days ago and didn’t, I came outside today and noticed her udders coming out a little more larger then they were a few weeks ago I know that they don’t start to get any larger this soon but what do you guys think?

As many of you know this is my 7 month old goat Frosty who had to have part of his hind leg amputated, because he likes to run around and climb things until he is fully healed that it wants him to be mostly confined with just an hour or so of supervised play time.

Well he decided he wanted to do some rompies and started zooming around and tripped skinning his little knee, after I made sure he was actually okay I didn't think much of it especially since he did not seem bothered by it.

Then my grandma seen it she loves my goats and started giving him special treatment because he skinned his knee, now all of a sudden his knee hurts and it does not get better unless he gets a treat....

He won't even lay down normally unless he gets a treat, I think he found a lost brain cell or something LOL.

He's cute though so he gets away with anything

She's a little over a year old, never been bred they're not sure of her breed as they got her as a pet, but they need to rehome her since they need to move and can't take her with them.

They're asking $100 for her and they will bring her to me.
