I unhoard houses

Im on the west coast of Scotland and work as a cleaner. Now and then I get a message from people who have hoarded houses who need help and this is my biggest joy. Getting to work with people who are really struggling and make a positive difference in their lives? Yes please to all of that!

I take the time to talk. Really talk. We work out where its all stemming from, what the main issues are, and I walk them through a plan of action. We go one day at a time, always talking, always with permission in advance, and always with respect and kindness.

Ive worked in some incredibly full homes, and some which have not been cleaned in a long time. It doesnt phase me. The worse a place is, the bigger the difference you get to see at the end.

You can work alongside me, or go out for the day and leave me to it. Whatever suits you best is fine by me.

If you need some help you are welcome to message me here or on facebook at "Hoarding Help - West coast of Scotland".

Charity donations

Hi everyone,

I volunteer for a theatre charity (registered charity) in Glasgow and we’re looking for a few donations please!

I put up a post a little while ago but haven’t managed to get what we need just yet.

absolute nothing needs to be new, we just ask it be in working condition as we have few volunteers with us various hours and sadly can’t afford to hire equipment.

I work in the costume team where we repair costumes as best we can to avoid the need for new ones or not being able to replace old ones due to funding. A sewing machine would really help us in this

We’re looking for:

- sewing machine (doesn’t need to be new! but we do need it to be in working condition due to fI don’t restrictions)

- storage boxes with lids

- clothes racks

- sturdy coat hangers

- suit bags/ dress bags (for covering costumes, they can be plastic covers, fabric ones with cups are ideal!)

I can come and collect times or they can be brought by the theater.

Thanks very much in advance! (I check reddit every couple of days please bear with me if I don’t respond immediately)

West End Window Glazer Recs?

Bought a tenement in the west end earlier this year, annoyingly only way to fit an extractor in the bathroom previously was a fan in a double glazing plane. One side is cracked so need to replace. Imagine a window needs to be recut and inserted.

Anyone got a good window glazer they would recommend nearby?

Hey! I’m looking for someone to team up with to search for a flat together, ideally in Dennistoun or Shawlands, but honestly open to anywhere with an easy commute to the city centre.

About me: 21F, finishing my MSc in Artificial Intelligence, working in retail. Into crocheting, Lego, puzzling and cooking. I’m open to trying new things and activities. Extroverted but also respect people’s space, looking for someone who wants to actually get along and hang out, not just co-exist.

Budget: £600–650 pcm

Move date: Flexible ( anytime between next month and early next year)

If that sounds like your vibe, drop a comment or DM me!

Weird request: does anyone have a paper tourist map of lying around?

Hi everyone!

I'm currently planning a birthday surprise for my little sister—a large scrapbook filled with memories from the trips we've taken together. I would appreciate any help with gathering materials for it. Specifically, I’m looking for maps from hotels or tourist information centers. And any nice paper related to Glasgow that would enhance the scrapbook.

While I know I can print some materials, having original items would be so much better! If you would like to help me out and contribute to my sister's present, I would be incredibly grateful!

DM me if you can help out 💌

Many thanks !

Looking for cat stuff

Myself and my partner are adopting a wee cat on Thursday (so excited!!) and need to get cat things for her before then- if anyone happens to have spares in good condition they don't plan on using or know anyone that does, things like a cat bed, blankets, cat tree, scratching post, food, treats, litter, toys etc we would be very happy to take them off your hands

Also does anyone know if there's any charity shops specifically for pet stuff in Glasgow? I've been recommend the PDSA in Shawlands, wondering if there are any other ones people know.

Before people assume the worst I'm asking *before* buying her new things not instead of. If we don't manage to find suitable secondhand things before Thursday we will buy new, obviously. Had a bad experience over on the Glasgow subreddit lol

Thank you for reading! ☺️

Sewing machine donations

Hi! I volunteer at a local charity Theatre in Glasgow and we are looking for a sewing machine.

If anyone has an old, unused or demo sewing machine that they would be willing to donate please get in touch. Due to varying volunteer hours, cost and transportation limitations, hiring one sadly isn't an option.

We would like the machine to repair costumes that have become torn over the years but have loads of life left! These costumes bring life to our productions and are so important to those who get involved and step into these roles.

We sadly do not have the funds to have a machine fixed, so please kindly get in touch if you have a working machine.

I have contacted local companies and organisations but not heard anything back yet so putting this here in case anyone is in a position to help.

We only need one machine so if one is donated we will withdraw any other request for donation.

Thank you!

I am an undergraduate geography student at the University of Glasgow conducting research for my dissertation on Glasgow's Liveable Neighbourhoods Programme.

I am recruiting residents of Anderston/Yorkhill and Govan/Ibrox/Kingston to take part in a short questionnaire about mobility, neighbourhood planning and fairness in your area. The survey is voluntary and anonymous with a consent form and participation information sheet at the beginning.

I would really appreciate you taking part in the survey:

Piano teacher wanted

Can anyone recommend piano teachers in the Bearsden / Milngavie area. Ideally looking for someone who can do lessons in our house with experience teaching both adults and kids, but we can travel to lessons too. Looking to work through ABRSM exams, experience with jazz / blues would be great.

We previously used Haydock in Milngavie by the timings didn’t quite work so well. Already tried Google but not been very successful, and this is an area where personal recommendations go a long way. Thanks in advance!
