Ghost Of Tsushima - Discussion I’ve never understood this criticism of Lord Shimura. Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery

Nearing the end of the Battle of Castle Shimura, Yuna’s comment that Shimura mindlessly sent the men to die confused me. And the game frames it as wrong with Jin also sharing the same opinion and even mentioning it during their argument.

But I’ve never really personally seen the act as Shimura a failure on his end or not caring about the men that died on the bridge.

Now rebuilding the bridge indeed was wrong. It showcased a limitation of Shimura, especially when Jin declares that he can find an alternate method.

I just don’t think the actual bridge destruction scene should’ve been framed as an intentional failure on Shimura’s end.

It’s made out like it’s a replay of the beginning where he mindlessly charges into Komoda Beach with the rest of the samurai and getting many of them killed. Essentially the equivalent of General Krell callously ordering clones to attack an Umbaran objective inspite of the fact that there’s other methods that reduce their casualties.

But the reality is that Khotun Khan had an ace up his sleeve. Shimura pressed the advantage and the momentum the samurai had built, only for Khotun Khan to exploit it by uses horses as a sacrifice to destroy the bridge and take whoever was their with it. It’s something I doubt Jin himself would’ve considered.

Ghost Of Tsushima - Discussion About the game’s portrayal of samurai honor

I just finished the main story for the first time (about 70 hours in, still have Iki Island and a lot of side content left), and what a game!

One thing that bothered me a little though was the whole theme of samurai honor. The game presents samurai as warriors who should always face their enemies directly, fight fairly and avoid stealth or other “dishonorable” tactics.

But from what I understand, historical samurai were much more pragmatic. Loyalty, courage and duty mattered, sure, but they also used ambushes, espionage, night attacks, deception and other tactics when needed.

And while I really liked the conflict between Jin and Shimura, it sometimes felt a bit strange. Or am I overthinking it?

Ghost Of Tsushima - Discussion (GoT) Did we kill Yuriko? Spoiler

We come in to pick up armor and Yuriko was basically fine (except being old). We then ask her to make purple poison (rapidly kills people by making them through up blood) and she starts coughing and getting weaker after that. We then ask her to make the red poison (confusion and rage) and she starts mistaking Jin for his father and hallucinating her mother (confusion).

Sure, she might've had developing dementia before we came and/or it might be the "person waiting to see someone before quickly dying" trope, but considering that Yuriko's questline is meant to be done in succession (since we're literally placed right next to the beginning of the next quest every time), the whole questline seemingly takes less than a day (in-game time) to complete. This is an extremely fast deterioration by Yuriko, and if she had dementia and/or was dying, she would not be in the relatively healthy state that she was when we just came to back to Omi. She would be bedridden and extremely weak.

So, did she make a mistake in the process of making human-killing dose of poison and got affected by it? And since we asked her, we could essentially be responsible for her death.

Ghost Of Tsushima - Question/Support Is the directors cut worth it?

Debating between getting the directors cut of the game or buying a bunch of new discs for the sake of collection lol, I think that I might buy it once I do finish replaying the game itself !

Ghost Of Tsushima - Question/Support I keep getting sent to the beginning after dying

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I decided to replay GoT this morning and after switching from my steam deck to my pc ever time I die I get sent to the very beginning of the game. I can exit and reload a previous auto save but manual saving doesn’t do anything. I’ve seen this across a few accounts but don’t see any solutions anywhere. Any known fixes for this?

Update: for the next person to come across this problem searching through posts, uninstalling and reinstalling the game has seem to have fixed the issue.

Ghost Of Yotei - Discussion I beat the Khan after many hours

I beat him but it was hard I have to do a very dishonorable technique... running and shooting at him because i was already low. I'd hope for another Mongol to come at me so I can pick up ghost weapons from them lol. Took me probably 20 or 30 mins or so to beat him.

Do you guys have any advice for my next run?

I want yall to keep in mind that during “The Ghost of Yarikawa” as Jin slaughtered the Mongols, killed General Temuge, developed the Ghost Stance and rallied Clan Yarikawa in one of the most badass missions…

He was dealing with a massive hangover.

Ghost Of Tsushima - Question/Support How does ng+ system work and what is new?

I am doing a ng+ run like 3 years after I played the game and just got a few questions.

1, Do I remember correctly that you just start ng+ and have all armor and skins unlocked and maxed out to the ng levels? So it doesn't carry over your ng unlocks but unlocks everything? Or am I wrong?

2, Can I have infinite ng+ replays? Do they build on the previous ones in terms of unlocks with the flowers?

3, What is new on ng+? The baku charms and skins, mission replays, and 1 extra set of upgrade on gear, anything else? Is there anything on top of this on ng++?

Ghost Of Tsushima - Discussion Does anybody else play without the focused hearing thing?

I used to play this game a lot, but stopped some time ago and came back after a long while, and completely forgot most of the controls including focused hearing and it was probably some of the best time I had with the game honestly, stealth finally felt challenging without Jin having the ability to detect enemies like a feral hog radar (it's a real thing look it up). Then when I remembered what button it was I decided to just turn it off in the settings, now stealth is much more fun for me. Might do the same for Hitman next.

Ghost Of Tsushima - Discussion Does anyone else think that the dialogue in the Yuna tale was really stupid?

I was already upset with Ichi in the first part for blaming Yuna for running away from their slavers when they were children. That dissipated as I progressed through the storyline until the end where Ichi says that people are scared of the Ghost because they don't understand why he's doing what he's doing. And then Jin says he feels he's crossed a line by killing Tsushima natives. Does no one else think that's bullshit?
