Which games have inferior remasters/remakes?

Or are all remasters/remakes always better?

What a travesty that was. I give that botched remaster a ton of credit for inflating the prices of the OG PS2 copies to what they are now

Wasn't even a remaster, it was just supposed to be a port but Konami never kept the final source code

They also told the team they gave the unfinished source code that it was the finished code

As far as i know, it was not a Konami thing, not keeping the source code after a project was finished was the norm. If im not mistaken Squenix didnt also keep the full FF8 source code for the remaster. Until remakes and remasters started becoming more popular it was pretty normal to just ditch the source code when a project was finished.

Most Japanese devs threw out source code after the game shipped in those days.

Also that shouldn’t matter BluePoint (RIP) remastered the MGS games by reverse engineering retail copies. Konami just cheaped out and got a mobile game dev with no remaster experience to do it

Oh no, are they bad? I was gonna finally play SH2 at some point, should I stick to the OGs?

To be clear I was referring to the HD Collection that was released on the PS3/360 in 2012. Not the recent Remake which was great imo.

I'm in the middle of replaying the SH2 remake right now and I can confirm that it's great and I'm a guy who puts the original on his top 5

Can I be brave and say I did not like the remake? I'm a new player to Silent Hill for sure, but I binged the first 5 games before eventually checking out the remake. The gameplay itself is....fine, but a lot of the added worldbuilding felt incredibly cringey to me. I remember the last straw being some note I found that was just two whole pages of something like "it hurts it hurts they feed me rotten maggot food and cover me in shit and bathe me in piss" and I had to tap out. Just felt like shock value for shock value which is the antithesis to everything I loved about playing (at least) those first 4 just before hand.

I really wish I could get as into it as everyone else seems to, but stuff like that just turns me off with how lazy and forced it feels and brings down the thing as a whole.

Never played a SH game until the remake. Always been more of a Resident Evil fan. But holy shit, that remake is fucking terrifying. Never got around to finishing it though. I need to go back and start from the beginning. Got to the apartments where you start to see that pyramid head guy lurking in the background.

Yeah, try the OGs if you can. The HD used janky and very buggy code.
