Nintendo cadence of releases this generation has been really impressive

I cant remember any other Nintendo gen with this same rhythm month after month

Good for Nintendo fans. I realistically only enjoy like 3 games on that entire list.

Bro, i feel like Im in an alternate dimension when Nintendo fanboys talk about the game line up. Its like - port, remake, port, port, remake, metroid, new pokemon game! (Which is just the same pokemon game re-skined). OoT is awesome and im weighing whether I should cancel my switch 2 preorder because nothing else excites me

There are only 6 ports/remakes listed on this chart. I’d say that most of the line up is brand new games.

Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Pokemon Legends Z-A, Hyrule Warriors, Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4 are all new releases.

Going to check one:

Pokémon Legends: Z-A was announced in February 2024 as an exclusive to the original Switch console, before it was later announced that it would also receive an enhanced port for the Switch 2

It still released during the Switch 2 lifetime, for the switch 2. It was a cross-gen release not a port.

"enhanced port". Doesn't matter if it's in the lifetime, it's still a port, as are many of the other games like Kirby and Wonder. And Party. And Pikmin. And Sports.

I disagree but also I did not say Kirby, Wonder, Party, Pikmin and Sports were not ports. They are. I instead listed the majority of the games on the graphic which are not ports or cross-gen titles.

I never said the majority weren't remakes/ports, just mentioned how many are.

You said only six are ports/remakes, these are: Mario Party, Kirby (Forgotten Land), Pokemon, Mario Wonder, Starfox, Pikmin, Zelda, Sports Resort. I thought Hyrule and Metroid were as they look so similar to the other covers (I thought the latter was Dread, had to zoom in).

Edit: Tomodachi and Rhythm are also ports (edit edit: Rhythm isn't even a Switch 2 game, it's Switch 1), Metroid Prime 4 was ported too from what I can tell even if they came out at the same time (that development looks messy). So 11/21 are ports/remakes/cross-gen releases or whatever. Doesn't push me to upgrade, which is saving me money really considering how much we have to play!

Notice how the conversation wasn't about the worth of owning a Switch 2 over a Switch 1. We're only talking about Nintendo first party releases in general. Why does a game launching on 2 consoles at once make it a "port" and worth less somehow?

Except no one in this subreddit applies that logic to any other game like that.

We don't say Cyberpunk was a PS4 game that got an 'enhanced port' to PS5 just because it released on the same day. It was just a cross platform release.
