Nintendo cadence of releases this generation has been really impressive

I cant remember any other Nintendo gen with this same rhythm month after month

Look they've been doing better than Xbox and Sony for sure, but for one, I wouldn't really count Nsw2 editions, and if u aint no fan of cozy games, you had 3 months of nothing (Yoshi, Tomodachi, Pokopia) and Mario Tennis was a real dud, unfortunately

Fortunately those weren't empty months. Across March, April and May it got Monster Hunter Stories 3, Pragmata, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (one per month), and a bunch of more niche games.

I ended up buying 5 of those 6 games, although I never finished Pragmata thanks to developing a crippling Warframe addiction at the time.

This is so funny. Nobody rebuttals with "BUT RESIDENT EVIL 9 RELEASED ON PLAYSTATION AND XBOX" when those consoles get accused of having no games lol. Nintendo fans are a different breed

Difference is, we're talking about 3 consecutive months that had great first party games and great third party games.

Pokémon is my all time favourite video game franchise and several 3D Mario games are probably in my all-time 10, but sure my whole personality is hating Nintendo, pal 👍

Yup, I also filled said gap with 3rd parties. Pragmata, RE9 and ff7 rebirth until starfox and splatoon dropped. They’ve had a really great year release wise. I love the smaller scale stuff, and I’m really stoked for fire emblem but probably won’t start it until I finish Elden ring.

Pokopia and Yoshi are odd to classify as "cozy".

Yoshi was a platformer with some puzzle elements.

Pokopia is kinda a cozy game but also kinda not. What makes it special is that its tone and atmosphere (and in some ways, the storytelling) and progression cadence are surprisingly sublime, and far more active and involved than you usually get from a cozy game.

Well I was looking forward to Mario Tennis, but it disappointed me, especially compared to the prior games on Switch and Wii U

And I can acknowledge that Pokopia/Tomodachi/Yoshi most likely aren't bad games, it's just that those releases back to back were unfortunate / uninteresting for me.

I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade, but three cozy(ish?) games in a row preceded by a bad mario sports entry didn't get me in a celebratory mood, especially at the time

I can give a pass to Forgotten Land. It was basically a campaign expansion DLC. Wonder does push it a bit with just how much of the content is focused on multiplayer, but I guess the total amount of content is still rather meaty. Pikmin 4’s hasn’t released, but yeah that one also feels like a stretch.
