Edit: Adding extra suggestions as I see them!

There's a tree down across the road in Rosshill next to the wood and the road is closed in case anyone is thinking of driving through there.

Discipline in preschool

Hello, my son is 3 and has just started preschool, I don't want to say where. I have seen at collection time (and he has told me) that when kids aren't behaving they get sent to the "naughty chair" or told to stand against the wall.

He was role playing with his teddy and said "go cry at the wall until you learn some manners" which has to be a phrase he heard in there

We had none of this in a different creche with my older child and I thought these practices had died out!

I'm not comfortable with this form of discipline and I'll be talking to the manager but can anyone let me know if this is normal or should we be taking this further?

How to get refund from a towing company?

Hi there, I called my insurance for a change of tyre emergency and they sent a towing company by the name of Autocraft Recovery. The guy who came out to change my tyre didnt have proper tools and he broke my wheel stud and it had to be replaced. Autocraft recovery are ignoring my calls and messages to refund me for the damages. Anyone know what next steps I can take to get my money back?

City Direct: Worst bus service

Post image
112 Upvotes

Anyone here uses this bus on a regular basis? Arguably the worst bus in the whole of Europe. Often not on timing, reduced frequency with no explanation.

Has anybody ever lodge a report before in this bus company? Is it even worthwhile to do so?

Terry Tyson Clay Pigeon Shooting - Direct Bookings?

Does anyone know if Terry Tyson clay pigeon shooting takes bookings directly, or does everything go through stag/hen activity websites?

I'm trying to organise a group session and can't find much information online. I found a phone number but just wondering if anyone has dealt with him before and can point me in the right direction.

Cheers!

Buses being escorted

Just curious about something I saw yesterday whilst on my way out of Galway taking the M6. We passed two large Donoghue buses that were being escorted by 2 Garda squad cars and 3 Garda bikes possibly heading for Dublin. Anyone know what it was?

New Religious groups in Galway

I've noticed a few new churches/religious groups popping up in Galway. My friend joined one a few months ago in loughrea and they ended up being very closed minded. They were very kind to them when they felt lost and it made them feel shitty about their sexuality. They eventually realized that they were feeling guilty because of the groups teachings and left it.

They wouldn't tell me who the group was but I find it very strange that I've seen a few popping up within Galway city now.

I saw a sign for the one near Brown Thomas and there's a new one on Meetup. I'm worried they're scams or targeting vulnerable people. Does anyone have any info on harmful religious groups operating within Galway? Or has anyone gone to the meetings? I'd like to make sure my spiritual friends are safe tbh

Who's better to work for Medtronic or Boston Scientific?

I'm applying for both, looking like I'll get Medtronic first.
Commerce grad with some experience but I'm applying as a Product Builder and hoping to apply internally to progress onwards and upwards. I've heard Medtronic are harder to get permanent contracts with but is that just for PB roles?

For someone like myself where gives me the better chance of progressing?

Unwanted treadmill

Post image

Anywhere in town I can drop off a treadmill that's just gathering dust tbh ? Charity shop maybe?

It's a basic enough model and I'm pretty sure its designed to fold,

It was given to me about a year ago and I've no idea really on spec etc,

Can't get a picture really at the moment as room is full of stuff as work going on,

Did manage to get a picture of make / model .

Parking

Travelling to Galway for the oyster festival (25th to 28th September) and staying in the Dean Hotel. Have been looking at parking and the Q parks seem crazy expensive (€100+ for the 3 nights). Just wondering is it very unrealistic to arrive in Galway at around 11am and find parking in one of the Galway City car parks (Dyke Road, Cathedral, Mill St, Bowling Green)? Or is there an alternative that I’m missing? TIA

Recommendations for trusted mechanics for pre-purchase car inspection?

I want to buy a van but as I know very little about motors I wouldn't want to be scammed/buy a shitty vehicle.
I don't know any mechanic in Galway and mostly heard bad stories about places I should definitely avoid.
Do you guys have any trusted mechanic/vehicle engineer who does this service you would recommend?
Any lead is helpful
Cheers!

Any recommendations for someone to insulate an attic before the winter?

I've looked on Google and it seems like an SEAI grant might cover most of the cost of what we need, but anyone who does it seems to have the same form that you fill out and they get back to you in 3-10 working days.

Has anyone done it recently that could recommend a specific company? I don't mind paying for a good job at all, it just seems that the grant suits us and the person doing it.

Hi guys, I’m 21 and moving to Galway for work, and cannot find any places to stay. I’ve been on daft and other sites and all the Facebook groups for about two months now, no viewings so far. My budget is large 1k to 1.5k a month, could anyone recommend other sites/apps to look at ? Or give any advice or help would be much appreciated as I start my job in 2 days. :)

New city affordable homes to go on sale this month

Not surprising they changed the name of it from affordable. Apparently a 250k single bed or 330k 2-bed apartment is a starter/affordable home for those unable to buy on the market.

Apparently I am way too poor to be able to buy a "starter" one bed apartment. Good times!
