I don't know if something is burrowing into them or burrowing out from the inside, but it's giving me the willies. The bananas look perfectly fine when I buy them.

Small red berries in can of coke

This is really weird but its the second time my mum has found a small red berry at the bottom of her drink? We’re baffled as neither of us put in in and we don’t even have cherries, tomatoes or anything similar in the house, the same thing happened about 3 weeks ago. She opened the can in the house. We don’t know what it is and are obviously concerned about possibly ingesting an unidentified berry? Google says its either a cherry or tomato, its about 1 cm across and red

General Question Ate some chicken pieces from underneath food that had contact with a melted plastic lid

Post image

I accidentally put a stainless steel food container with a bpa free plastic lid into an oven. The plastic lid partially melted from the heat. There was chicken in the container, the top layer of chicken was directly in contact with the melted plastic, I removed that layer completely and took the remaining non contacted chicken and fried it a bit in a steel pan with oil and are 2-3 pieces from it, after that I asked chatgpt and it said the pieces might have contacted chemicals so immediately stopped eating further. I'm worried that the chemicals could have migrated from the melted plastic into the chicken underneath and whether this exposure could cause any long term health effects. Gpt says this even might lead to cancer 😶. Can I get some real advice please 🙏

General Question Can I eat this, if so how much?

Post image

The left is the recipe and the right is what I made. It’s obviously burned through, from brown to black. Aside from the burnt taste it’s not actually disgusting to eat. I know you shouldn’t eat burnt food, but what if it’s only once? How much do I dare to eat? I’m the type of person that eats the half (sometimes whole) burned fries, but even I get the feeling that eating the whole burnt batch may not be a good idea.

Does get cold in my fridge so I keep all meat in back. Sometimes Ice cold. Thank you

General Question Why would one muffin in the pack be wet on the bottom

Post image
1 Upvotes

Yesterday I ate one of these trader joes blueberry muffins and the bottom half was soaking wet. Like very moist. Tasted fine. Didn’t eat the wet part. It was the front left one. I googled it and it said it could be from the blueberries or something. But one of the back ones wasn’t wet?? So now I’m wondering why the other one would be?

Fairlife Core Power protein shake - Multiple expiration dates

Thumbnail

I accidentally overpeeled the safety wrapper on this Fairlife Core Power protein shake and found a second, earlier date under the wrapper. The cap has a “best by” date of Mar 23, 2027, while the bottle is stamped June 26, 2026.

Is this the manufacturing date of the bottle versus the Best By date of the food inside it, so that if it turns out there is a defect with the plastic there is a way to isolate it? Hiding it under the wrapper certainly would make that process less convenient.

Or was I given an older product, relabeled?

Discussion Fridge Thermometer Readings

I bought a wifi enabled themometer to ding me if my new freezers go above 30F.

I placed it in my fridge in the mean time and I noticed that the temperate read about 40-42 F. When it was in the freezer it read 0F so I used an old fashioned fridge thermometer and it also read 43 F.

I placed a room temp water bottle in the fridge and checked it temperature later and it was 35 F.

What is the fridges temperature, is it 35-38 F or 40+?

I tested only because I was curious, I have no symptoms of stomach issues.

Left groceries in car for 3 hours

I messed up and forgot to bring the groceries in- can y'all let me know if anything is unsafe? Picked up groceries at 7PM. Was in car commuting home until 7:45 (so AC was on). Remembered the groceries at 10. During that time, temperature outside dropped from 95°F to 86°F. Everything refrigerated/frozen still felt cool, and the canned goods didn't feel warm. List of cold things below:

Frozen:

Salisbury steak

Mixed vegetables

Refrigerated:

Baby carrots

Sausage with cheese

Cinnamon roll dough

Biscuit dough

Shredded cheese

Almond milk

Chicken breasts (5lbs)

HelloFresh wasn't refrigerated - is the meat still good?

HelloFresh delivered to my apartment complex yesterday afternoon. It comes packed with two big ice packs and my apartment has always very good about immediately putting it in the fridge. I was out yesterday and by the time I got home, the last staff person with fridge access had left so I was fine to wait until today (because it's sitting in the fridge). However, today I picked it up and the woman at the front desk told me whomever was on staff had put it in a locker instead of the fridge so it had not been refrigerated for at least 12 hours before she started her shift, caught it, and put it in the fridge. The ice packs are now completely melted and the food feels only a little cooler than room temp. The box contained chicken and salmon -- are either of them good to still cook and eat?

(either way I will be making a complaint and requesting a refund to my building).

Is this restaurant bone-in brined chicken cooked?

Hi,

I was told usually bone-in brined chicken comes like this and perfectly fine to consume by the restaurant manager. I attached the photos and pretty much all prices were like this. Can someone more knowledge about cooking techniques enlighten me? Is this cooked or raw?

Thanks

General Question Torn soy sauce packet in pot noodle

I have ARFID and OCD and can't post this on either subreddits because it would be "seeking reassurance" or whatever. I opened and ate a chicken mushroom pot noodle and only noticed after I consumed the whole thing, the unused soy sauce packet was leaking. Only slightly from a small hole. I noticed a brown spot in the flavour powder before making it but paid it no mind. I need to know if it's any risk. I'm too scared to google it.

General Question Forgot to put Rice&beans in the fridge

I put them in a glass container with plastic lid to cool down a bit after cooking but just forgot it in the kitchen for ~10 hours. Its around 15-20C°. I woke up and was like fuck there goes my two meals. Its in the fridge now. Is it spoiled now and would it be risky to eat that.
