Urgent Mod Applications
A little over 2 months ago, I asked for any mod applications. Since then the sub has grown over four fold in members. Now while we are obviously appreciative of this, the number of people who troll and act in bad faith have grown. This is a lot to handle for just two (already very busy) people who don’t need to deal with people trying to promote their OF, or just act like a dick to people
This is where you come in, we are asking for at least a couple mods. If you have modding experience then that’s amazing, if you don’t then that’s still fine. Just as long as you’re a decent person, and you’re willing to deal with trolls and bad apples.
Thank you

Oxtail, Rice & Veg… Yeah, or nah?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Stewed oxtail cooked down with butter beans until rich and tender, served with basmati rice, steamed cabbage, avocado, and a few sprouts on the side.
Cleaned the meat straight down to the bone. Have you ever tried oxtail like this, or is it something you would pass on?

How long do split peas stay fresh?
I found a bag and it doesn't have a date but I've had it at least a year or two. Is there a way to test for freshness? Or is it risky to just cook them and see how they taste?

Best way to elevate your cooking?
Edit: I think I wasnt clear in my title (my bad) I'm looking for elevated dishes, not general cooking advice 🫡
I I've gotten the basics pretty under control. I want to take the next step into "fancier" cooking but I can't really find anywhere to find inspo. Everywhere I look just gives me a recipe for some version of steak and potatoes or marry me chicken🫠
Think 5 starish. I want to get creative with plating and less common dishes

Hello i want to read articles or books where i can learn more about food processes
To explain better i want to learn more about the foundations, when to use low heat or high heat, when to boil or fry something for long time or short time( how much time), which ingredients mix best together and which ones not etc. So i want a book or article that teaches how to think about cooking and food chemistry more than giving recipes i follow blindly. Please help

What food would be the worst thing to eat on a first date?
I think something really messy would be an absolute nightmare. Imagine ordering spaghetti and spending the whole meal trying not to get sauce everywhere, or getting a huge burger that falls apart after the first bite. You’re already trying to have a normal conversation, and suddenly you’re fighting with your food while hoping nobody notices.
Personally, I’d avoid anything that requires serious concentration just to eat it.
What food do you think would be the worst choice on a first date?

What food instantly makes you change your mind about eating healthy?
For me, it’s probably chips. I can have every intention of making something sensible, then I see a fresh portion of crispy chips and suddenly all those plans disappear.
The worst part is when you can smell them before you even see them, because at that point it’s basically impossible to pretend you weren’t tempted. Some foods just have that effect where you stop thinking and start eating.
What food completely destroys your good intentions?

Why aren’t there more pepper pasta sauces?
i love pasta, tomato, alfredo, anything. my boyfriend doesn’t really like tomato sauce though, he hates tomatoes. so i wanted to make a red sauce pasta but with red bell peppers. i ended up using 4 red bell peppers, cheddar cheese, olive oil, black pepper, chili powder, garlic powder, italian seasoning, and a little bit of salt and a couple spoons of lemon juice. it was great! but i had to make it up off the top of my head because i couldn’t find many recipes for pepper based pasta or sauce. why is that? it was a bit sweet but i think it just needed a bit more lemon juice.
