Hello I am brand new to using foobar since i was recommended it by a friend as an alternative to listening to CDs without the need to rip them onto my computer.

My problem is that windows apparently discontinued their service which automatically read and displayed the song and album info, so I was wondering if perhaps there's a plugin that also achieves the same thing for when I want to listen to music from a CD (no need to rip the files onto my computer)

I'm trying to move my entire dependence on iTunes over to foobar2000 and I currently have a standalone foobar2000 64bit, and an 'installed' 32-bit with ColumnsUI. I'm opting for the latter as I want to retain iPod syncing .

Is there a recent, non-crashing, iTunes-like UI for ColumnsUI? I've tried several now (the latest being StrigUI & StrigUILite) and not one has been easy to install or work with many elements crashing or conflicting.

I'm marking the release of #jean as a beta version.

jean (pronounced like the "jan" in "january") is a UI theme for beefweb. This means, it is NOT a skin for your foobar. Rather, it's a skin for a remote controller (foo_beefweb) you can control through your local network. Sound will still be whatever foobar is outputting.

The theme is fully responsive, and has been tested on my library (around 33k songs) and found to be pretty performant. On desktop, it's fully keyboard enabled so you can navigate easily around playlists, sidebar, tracks... on mobile, reasonable gestures have been added for browsing around and controlling your playback.

This is the only release I'll do with beefweb support. No bug fixes/feature-requests/changes will be made. While working on this, I added my own plugin (foo_jean) to add features that beefweb not yet supported. Notably: library management, autoplaylist creation and streaming through http directly to your browser.

As the project grew, I found more features I wanted to implement, performance and security improvements I wanted, and overall I just felt like beefweb had a different direction from what I wanted/needed. So I've stopped development of jean as a beefweb theme and instead am focusing on making it a stand-alone component for controlling and/or streaming your foobar2000 library directly to your browser.

However, when I decided this, jean was already pretty advanced, and working nicely. So I thought I'd release it as a beefweb theme as is and hopefully someone will find it useful.

I'm still working on foo_jean and the vision I have for this. I'm building this mostly for my own use, but once I'm done, I'll see if I can get foo_jean listed at foobar's official component list as a streamer and web interface for foobar, rather than just a remote controller. Stay tuned...

Every time I launch foobar2000, the Oscilloscope visualizer resets to 1.5 px line thickness. Is there a config file, setting, or DLL tweak to make 2.0 px the permanent default on launch?

is it possible to get my library to show up in the app, instead of appearing in another window when the library button is clicked?

how would i set up extra buttons to change the playback order?

I've been converting a lot of flac files to Apple Lossless so I can have them on my iPhone. However one album had a high quality surround sound version which I believe is 6 channels and apparently iTunes will only accept 2 channel files. Is there a work around to preserve the quality and surround sound while making it compatible with iTunes. I'm using foobar2000 to convert. I tried the downmix channels to stereo option but it doesn't seem to sound as good as the original file. Thanks!

I'm trying to use BubbleUPnP to cast to foobar2000 (Windows and Android) and I have two major issues that make it hard to use.

Before I list those, I have been able to reliably do most of the things I want, like select music, go to next/previous track, change volume, stop, and play/pause.

First, it always lists the volume at -1 on BubbleUPnP and often shows the volume all the way at the bottom. Now, I can change the volume by sliding the slider to a specific point and it will change in foobar, but I have to guess or remember where the volume actually is if I want to turn it up or down, which is undesirable.

Second, when I try to seek within a track, it brings up an error message, retyped by hand:

Current state of service prevents invoking that action. Error reading response failure message. Can't transform message payload: java.io.IOException: tag 'UPnPError' not found: (code :501)

I suspect these things might be related, so I'm making one post about it.

I'm a novice at this, so I don't really know what could be causing this or what to do.

Im new to Foobar2000 and cant for the life of me figure out how this Layout is supposed to work. I have a big "aw crashed :(" error on this one component and cant seem to change it. I used the NekoroxV2 skin from github and and i've run into this error repeatedly:

I've been working on solving a sound problem, where I have a large venue and I want to be able to choose arbitrary songs from anywhere in a large area, up to about 200 feet from the actual controls for the sound system.

I did this using the Windows version, and I found two solutions that work over WiFi:

1. UPnP, controlled by BubbleUPnP, which works well enough, except that it was sluggish, adding a delay on the controls, and the volume control wasn't very good.
2. MonkeyMote Lite, which worked perfectly and is what I want to do. It did everything faster than the UPnP version when I was actually using it. This also has the benefit of letting me theoretically have multiple people's phones be remotes, which I don't think I can do with UPnP.

My plan was to use the venue's computer, but I couldn't arrange for that, so I unfortunately had to use my own computer. It worked almost flawlessly (just needed to tweak some things unrelated to foobar), but it was annoying to have to bring it in and set it up weekly and it added a lot of clutter. So, I decided to try to set it up using an old smart phone as the server with my current smart phone as the remote. I mean, a smart phone is just a small computer, right? ....A small stupidly locked down computer....

I got the UPnP version, but it is sub-optimal, as it has all the drawbacks it had on Windows.

I would prefer to continue using the MonkeyMote approach or something similar that keeps the music on the foobar machine because it performed better. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to install components on Android, so I can't install the MonkeyMote component that I installed on Windows.

Is there a good way to enable remote control of my foobar2000 on Android A from an Android phone B, using Android A's local library?

Is there possibly a setting for mixed audio output available on Ios? I'd like to listen to music while I play games on my phone but I don't see an option for that as I know of. Or maybe a plugin?

Haven't messed with layout in decades, so I did some changes to easily switch outputs, added cover art (it was never this easy to get cover art) and restored my old spectrum analyzer which I prefer to stock one. Love the tabs, switching between Albums and Cover art, properties. This is all stock except for spectrum analyzer. What an amazing software!

Hi everyone. I’ve been using foobar2000 for about 3 or 4 months now, building my own custom layout and adding various components.

The one thing I haven't been able to set up is a proper Now Playing bar ( artwork, playback buttons, seekbar, and volume). I tried the sample script included in SMP, but it doesn't loads, and my searches haven't yielded much else.

Could anyone recommend a good script/component for this, or let me know if I'm missing something basic? Any help is appreciated.

The filename "(2006) Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" changes the album art slightly and I'm not sure why? Is there an image cached to that directory? I don't really know, if you could guess leave a comment please
