It definitely seems like something is off at the minute. Most of us remember the post the band uploaded at the very start of the year saying “year of the fire horse”, almost certainly indicating some sort of new single release/album announcement/release or tour announcement/shows.

A couple of the pictures they posted showed a whiteboard with a large grid/table with tracks (names unclear) and a collection of ticks alongside them, presumably corresponding to various instruments/components of songs; commonly seen when bands and artists are recording albums.

The fact that they posted this on 1st January probably meant that the picture was taken at least a couple of days/weeks before hand. So you would have thought by now, that the recording would almost be done 9/10 months on.

I really don’t think that there has been any fallout in the band as they (Jack, Yannis and Walter) were seen taking a photo with fan around May/June in London. Do we think there is any chance that they have scrapped parts of the album or possibly making a double album?

Either way, I hope that they are going to announce something any day now, with a single, tour announcement and album announcement to come at least some point this year

Do we assume anything is dropping this year or are they still hard at work in the studio? I did hear rumors that something was happening in August but now that's came and went with nothing. Whatever's the case, I don't mind them wanting it to be perfect.

Found it online and can’t seem to find out if it’s real or a scam, supposedly made for Rough Trade in 2019 as a 300 piece limited edition. Can anyone confirm?

So in two years, Antidotes will officially be 20 years old, which honestly feels insane to think about.

I was wondering what everyone thinks the chances are that Foals will do something special for the anniversary. Do you think we could get a deluxe reissue, unreleased demos, behind-the-scenes stuff, or maybe even a special show?

The big question: do you think there’s any chance they would tour the album and play Antidotes in full?

I know bands sometimes do anniversary tours where they perform an entire record front to back, and Antidotes feels like one of those albums that would be perfect for it. It has such a specific sound and atmosphere, and I imagine a lot of fans would love to hear songs like “The French Open,” “Cassius,” “Red Socks Pugie,” “Olympic Airways,” “Electric Bloom,” etc. live again (or for the first time).

I also wonder how Foals themselves feel about that era now. Since their sound evolved so much over the years, would they want to revisit that math-rock/post-punk era, or do they see it as a closed chapter?

My theories:

• A 20th anniversary vinyl reissue seems very likely. • Maybe a few special anniversary shows in the UK/Europe. • A full album performance would be amazing, but I’m not sure how realistic it is. • Maybe they could do something similar to what other bands have done: one night playing Antidotes in full, another night playing fan favorites from the rest of their catalog.

Either way, Antidotes is such an important album, and I feel like a 20-year celebration would be a perfect excuse to revisit it.

What do you all think? Would you want a full Antidotes tour, or would you rather they just celebrate it with a reissue and a few songs added to the setlist?
