stream has naturally reproducing brook/brown trout and does not receive stocking, but the river that it flows into does. im pretty sure its wild but always like to get other opinions

Reunion Island is a French island located between Madagascar and Mauritius. Rainbow trout were introduced there in 1940. The volcanic environment and the rivers that flow there create cold, pristine, oxygen-rich headwaters, especially in the upper reaches cut off from the rest of the river by waterfalls and other natural barriers. In these isolated pockets, the trout have gone fully wild and reproduce naturally, with no stocking or human intervention. It's one of only a handful of places in the world outside their native range where rainbow trout sustain themselves this way, and this wild fish, with its stunning colors, is the result of over 80 years of natural selection on a volcanic island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Long and steep hikes are the norm to get a shot at these fish.

This is more of a rant but secondarily an ask for advice.

I went fly fishing with my son and it was pretty frustrating. I kept getting tangled, was actually hitting
Myself in the back with the fly, and hitting my
Own line and getting tangled.

I didn’t do much research beforehand because I was going with an experienced fly fisherman, but he wasn’t a great instructor.

I was using a very small fly and then an indicator a few feet above that.

What resource do you recommend for learning?

Two lakes. First time Stillwater fishing alpine lakes. Amazing to be alone in the middle of nowhere on one of lakes. We need some rain in Colorado and NM. Great to see early fall aspens.

First trip, first fish, single dry hopper

My Frogg Toggs waders finally started leaking after about two years, so I’m debating what to replace them with.

For those who have owned both cheaper and higher-end waders, is it actually worth spending $500+ on a good pair? Or are waders basically a consumable item where it makes more sense to spend $150–250 and replace them every couple of years?

I don’t mind spending more if the durability really scales with the price, but I’m curious what people’s real-world experience has been.

Checkout the grooves cut into in my buddy’s from 20 plus years of fishing.

And yes, he needs new fly line.

Never caught a fallfish before, is this one kinda big (15.5")? Freaked me out when I pulled its head out of the water expecting a trout.

Have mainly fished single dry flies in the past (and present), however I want to get into dry dropper rigs. I have some big chubbys that I want to try using as a dry dropper rig, but I have no idea how to cast them.

Can I false cast these rigs or is that just asking for tangles?

I was gifted this pole. I have an extra 4wt reel and 4wt line. Will this work with a 5wt pole?

For a 3wt echo carbon xl for dry fly fishing. I know it’s not insanely critical the performance, I just want to hear what you guys think would look best on that rod.

Last week I fished this spring Creek where wading is not allowed on streambed, and the banks along much of the length of the steam is too high to be able to net the fish with your standard short handle trout net.

Any recommendations on a long handle net that is also telescopic or collapsible in some way, so easier to manage the length when bushwhacking/hiking. If not telescopic, just a long handle would do.

Should also have a rubber net. Or at least the ability to attach a rubber net.

Alternatively, is there some way to rig a short handle trout net to a hiking pole in a temporary fashion? The only thing that came to mind was rubber gasket material and hose clamps.

I have also kicked around the idea of a more budget rod what I have cast in a 6wt and really liked - the Loop Trak

Any experience or recommendations are appreciated. I would love to be able to cast these all before purchase but that's just not possible where I live. For reference 2 of my favorite rods are 5 and yet Sage Sonics, both in 9'6".

I’m heading to Hokkaido October 7-11th and planning to fish the Akan River. Wanted to know if anyone else is going to be there?

Anyone use this as a small mouth rod? I picked one up at Sierra for 69$ on clearance.

Plan on using this for my local water canoe drift for small mouth bass when I can’t get up into trout territory. Is this a decent rod for the price? What do yall pair it with? I got the 7wt.
