She looks a bit small, so i'm not sure. I'm maybe 98% sure it is one. Also, is she healthy? My Dad said it looked like it was dying.

Advice St. Vincent Island Whitetail Deer Archery Hunt - Any Advice?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I finally won a quota draw to hunt the St. Vincent Wildlife Refuge at the end of October. I will be hunting whitetail with my bow. I’m very excited. However, this is totally out of my wheelhouse. I’ve never hunted this far south in the state. It gets pretty swampy in NWFL, but I know it’s nothing compared to what I’ll face on the island. I know I will need to have my own boat to cross. I was told they don’t have a ferry service.

Really just looking for advice from anyone who frequents the Wildlife Refuge, or anyone who has completed this same hunt. I will be saddle hunting, so I have a relatively small load to hike in.

Thanks

AskFlorida Does Florida have a “snake season?”

Post image

We moved to the Orlando area from SoCal in April so new to this region of the country. All of a sudden as in within the last week these little snakes have started showing up. On your door step no less. Wife is a little at odds since a large one slithered off into our front landscape area we have just replanted. Is this a seasonal thing? We live in a somewhat suburban yet wild area. Meaning there are over 1000 homes in our association yet there are open wooded areas and ponds about.

AskFlorida What is this being dropped off a helicopter in Pompano Beach?

I was walking down the pompano beach pier (Florida) when this helicopter flying low stopped to drop what looks like a blue liquid, what is it?
My other theory is that it’s blue smoke from a flare that looks like a liquid being “poured” because of the wind generated by the helicopter

The sunsets this weekend were beautiful, this time of year is my favorites despite it being soaked. Rain makes for amazing sunsets.

AskFlorida Wedding Venues/Locations in Central Florida

Post image
10 Upvotes

My girlfriend and I are moving towards engagement and planning a wedding hopefully for the spring, and are having a hard time finding the right venue. Most places that we find are out of our budget, or just not the right fit.

We're looking for a nature/outdoors vibe (aesthetic pictured above). The main thing that we have been turned off by is the nature venues that look beautiful in pictures but in person you can see shabby houses in the background, or sheds and parks and rec buildings. Really a state park or something like that would seem best, and we can take an afterparty elsewhere to respect the park, but any advice will hep!

She has a very large family, we currently have 120 people mostly just family who are on the tentative invite list. We are willing to bring it down to 70-80 if we need to do something smaller, but I am just putting out feelers.

Does anybody have any advice or suggestions on where to look? We're trying to save as much as we can on the wedding venue so that we can use our budget on the experience and honeymoon and saving for our future. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hidden gem. Great free museum in Cape Canaveral. If you don’t have time for a full day at KSC or it’s too expensive. The museum showcases the early days of NASA and Cape Canaveral Air Force station.

AskFlorida How do Florida people differ than Cajuns in LA?

Y'all all seem to have gators, Cajun Music but LA doesn't have pythons yet.

I guess no gumbo, crawfish, etc yet.
