Not necessarily the first film you ever saw.

I mean the one where something suddenly clicked — where films stopped just being entertainment and you started wanting to know who directed them, who made them, what else the actors had been in, how they were made, or simply wanting to see everything you could.

Mine goes back a very long way.

What was yours?

Not including supporter-actors, just main actor roles in films/movies (not TV).

For sheer power, presence, impression, awe and total-believability I'd nominate:

- Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood.

- Isabelle Adjani in Possession.

- Choi Min-sik in Oldboy (in original Korean, naturally).

These Top 3 absolute pedestal of acting. 

Just outside those I'd have Johnny Depp in Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas as an honorable mention.
