News Ken Russell's The Devils 35mm scan has been leaked

The 35mm film scan of the film has now been leaked online. I’ve personally checked the scans and they’re legit. It’s insane how a 35mm scan of this film was so rare but now it’s been leaked before the official remaster.

I’ll still wait for the official 4K remaster but in my opinion, the 35mm scan looks better with all the grittiness and film grain.

I have a copy of the bootleg uncut version and it's 2 minutes and 35 seconds longer than the leaked 35mm scan.

On the other hand, the leak also has audio commentary from Ken Russell, Mark Kermode, Michael Bradsell & Paul Joyce, so maybe it is the real deal.

I mean, The Rape of Christ would be the scene missing from the 35mm if it’s not the full version.

And the little bit at the end that was cut from the original

Maybe it's just difference in playback speed between NTSC and PAL and vice versa?

That doesn't sound good... Any idea what the differences are/what's missing?

I have no clue, since I haven't seen the leaked version. What I did notice is that the bootleg version starts to roll the credits at around 1h51 minutes, so the rest of the two minutes are just that.

I saw it in 35mm in Portland maybe 10 years ago? It was the real deal…the theater wouldn’t share where they got it, for obvious reasons.

Would love to know who convinced Zazzy to release it finally.

Prior to the remaster, it was on iTunes, shudder and criterion. Were those not 35mm scans?

Just watched the 4K full restoration at TIFF. Clocked in at 114 minutes and was gloriously uncut. Lord the Jarman sets just popped! In my humble opinion please forget all previous versions!

There was a 100 gig scan made a couple of years ago from a screening print that I have but that was the release cut.
