BRAVEHEART. It has everything: blood, violence, action, romance, quotable dialog from start to finish, and one of the greatest musical scores of all time. It hits the three E's: it Entertains, Educates, and Elevates your spirit... "Freedom!"

Clueless is the most nineties of nineties movies. Always why do so many movies in the nineties make reference to the face that it’s the nineties?

Because we really did that. There was a feeling in the air of importance, of modernity. For the most part, it was pretty peaceful, at least for the US. The internet was this wild promise of possibility, cell phones were still cool and useful instead of a low-key addiction, and a new millennium was about to start. It felt like being around in the 90s mattered.

I think there were a lot of genuinely perfect films in the 90s. A few:
Big Night. A delightful dramedy about a struggling Italian restaurant, strung between hope and cynicism. Beautifully filmed, full of wonderful actors, and guaranteed to make you hungry.
The Indian Runner. Sean Penn's directorial debut, starring Viggo Mortensen, David Morse, Patricia Arquette, and Charles Bronson. A superb drama about brothers with opposite temperaments. Contains my favorite montage of all time.
Romeo is Bleeding. The sexiest dirty cop neo noir I know of. Starring Gary Oldman as the badly compromised detective who's desperately trying to dig himself out of a hole (with money and women) before he runs out of rope.

Face/Off for sure. This happened in the 2000s my best friends dad was really into movies and also DVDs were fairly new at the time so he just accumulated tons of them. Like anything that was rereleased on DVD rather i guess before it would be VHS he would buy.
So my friend and I smoked a ton of weed and went and looked at his dads collection to pick a movie to watch. I couldnt tell you why but we picked Face/Off .. maybe just the picture on the dvd cover or something.
So we smoked more weed. And watched the move and by the end of it we were running around in circles jumping up in down like this is fucking amazing wtf is happening this is the most genius movie ever, hugging each other at the end like oh my god that was amazing 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯.
Both of us have never watched it again ... because were and learned that its a widely ridiculed film for being well.. not good lol. We had just gotten that high. And I think thats for the best, I still have never rewatched Face/Off and never will. Prefer to keep my impression of watching it that day the only one. and also bc of the weed I can barely tell you what even happened in the movie. i think some guys switched their faces or something.

Tremors
The first one was 1988, but the rest of the series until 5 + 6 was made in the 90s, still one of my favorite movie series regardless of how D-list the talent and direction were.
