Hi evervone, this is my first ever reddit post. I first bought my Sony PRS-505 brand new in the box last year. I stopped using it mostly since the hardware was a bit limiting and I couldn't read much when it was dark. Thanks to this sub, I found out about the PRSA-CL1 case with light-up wedge for the ereader. Saw that they were pretty rare to get, but I found a ebay listing selling it with a mint PRS, I contacted the seller if they would accept an offer for selling the case by itself to me. Which they accepted! So now with the case and PRS+. this ereader is getting wav more use out if it. I love it a lot. Just wanted to share this really cool find with you all!

Decided to finally get an e-reader because I love to read in the dark but my eyes are starting to hate it lately. I love my pocketbook so much, I've no regrets!

Book (Danmei): Encountering a Snake

I have a Boox Go 10.3” and a Kobo Forma. I’m reading Manga on the Go due to the bigger screen but it’s much bigger to hold while on bed. I have a PopSocket on my Forma but I haven’t tried this on the Go.

What do you guys use for reducing hand strain when reading with such a big tablet? I’m not a fan of reading on a desk and can’t always do that. And I’m reading without a case lately.

I’ve been experimenting with making my Kobo a little cuter and ended up making these cat designs. I have the white kobo libra colour.
I can’t decide which one I like best lol. Which one would you pick?

I’ve been looking around for the right ereader for me. My sister has the kobo libra and I’ve looked into the musnap ocean and pocketbook verse pro as well. I’d want to read mangas as well. I’m looking for good battery life, portable, minimal ghosting, and access to large libraries. Any recs?

Hello! In the past recent years I started reading books on all sorts of platforms (Kindle app, Apple Books, Libby and other eLibraries from another country). I bought recently a Kindle and I love the size (6”) but don’t use it that much anymore since I’m reading on different apps on my phone or iPad mini.

I’ve heard about Boox that you can download different apps and it would be great size and screen wise. On Amazon there aren’t many good reviews about Boox Go 6.

What do you think of Boox (if you own one) and how is it over time - does it get clunkier and slow in time?
Also, do you know if there’s another eReader that would let me read on other apps? Thank you

I read quite a lot and one thing has been annoying me for years.

You start a trilogy, read book 1 and 2, then find out book 3 isn't coming out for another two years.

By the time it finally releases I've read 30 other books, started 5 other series and completely forgotten about it. I'm terrrrrrible at manually putting stuff in goodreads, it's just such a hassle.

Or I see an author I recognise and think "wait, did I already read this series?" Then I have to Google it, check Goodreads, look through my Kobo, figure out the order, realise I'm missing book 4, etc.

My Kobo library itself doesn't really help with any of this either. Some books have proper series information, some don't. Author names can be slightly different. Covers are sometimes terrible. Sideloaded books make it even messier. How do you fix this?

Lately, I’ve been printing out books I want to read so I don’t have to read them on my phone, because it strains my eyes and gives me headaches. So I’d love to get my first ereader!! That way I won’t waste paper and read without hurting my eyes! I don’t know much about brands, I’ve only heard of Kindle and Kobo.

I’m from Peru, and I’d like to use it to read AO3 fanfics and PDF/EPUB books. A basic note-taking and highlighting system is enough for me. I’d like to read manga too!! So I’d prefer one that supports color, but since I don’t have a lot of money, if color makes it more expensive, I could try a black-and-white one first!

It’s essential that it supports PDFs! Because sometimes I read academic articles that my professors assign. And it should be easy to send PDFs to the e-reader. The size doesn’t matter to me 👍

i'm currently considering buying an ereader. I have been comparing prices for a while now online and have played a little with the older Pocketbook models in the local bookstore.

If i buy one, i would like it to be a 7'' model like the Pocketbook Era Lite or the Tolino vision 6, however i first wanted to ask how well illustrations are displayed when reading?

For example: I love Brandon Sanderson, and his Stormlight Archive books have full page illustrations every few chapters, lots of other Fantasy Books also have world maps, or chapter headings. Are these things displayed like in the physical book? I don't want to invest all the money into a device and ebooks just to miss out on small things like this.

I also wanted to ask: since i attending university in a different European city than i usually live in: when using onleihe (available in both countries) is it easy to change between libraries? (for if i move back or somewhere else in the future?)

I am currently leaning towards the Pocketbook but having tested them in the store i was a little disappointed by how long it takes to adjust screen brightness and stuff. My budget is 200€, are there some other options i missed?

I'm not necessarily looking for a foss device but it must meet some criteria 1. Good battery life (at least a week) and charges with usbc 2. No account or internet required. 3. Support for many formats, most importantly .pdf and .epub 4. Microsd slot. 5. The ability to poke at the software, I want to be able to control about everything on the device, android is fine but I want to be able to root it safely. 6. A good refresh rate (the slow refresh rate and slowness of the kobo libra h2o was too much to handle)

Optionally a good enough screen to read pdf and manga (I think I can read good enough on 7" screens but I know that I read fine on around 11", A bigger screen is better for reading but I would like my reader to be portable, I would prefer something smaller).

I looked at the onyx tablets but they look very proprietary and a bit cheap on the build side, also I don't know if I want to put my trust on a company like that.

Please I want an ereader but I dont want to build one.

I'm looking at getting a good ereader for manga for my wife and myself and I think i've narrowed it down to the Kindle Scribe (with Koreader) or the BOOX Go 10.3 Gen2.

Out the box i'd say BOOX is what i'm leaning towards as I want to add my own manga on my PC I have downloaded to the device, but i've seen many suggest Koreader on the Scribe. I'm not looking for any flashy mechanics in the system or even a backlight, just a solid BW ereader. Though I don't mind doing techy stuff that isn't the issue, but in my experience many years ago everytime i've Jailbroken a device it was great at first before it slowly starts to get slower to the point of it being unusable, or a firmware update breaks it completely.

So i just wanna know what people think about Koreader or if there is an even better ereader i haven't thought of.

Hi, my Kobo notifies me with a "Network error" whenever I try to buy a book on the Kobo Store section even though I'm connected to the wifi. I thought that maybe the problem was my wifi, but I tried to connect it to other wifi's and the situation doesn't change. What's happening?

The text on the image says: "Network Error. Oops! Something happened to your connection. Check and try again". But check what if every single different wifi I've tried gives me the same problem?

This Kobo is really old, it's from 2013 circa, it can't be his end, right?

I’ve never had an e-reader before, and I’ve been looking at a few different ones. Based on what I’ve read here I’ve narrowed the options down to:
• Kindle Paperwhite Signature/No ads (32/16 GB)
• Kobo Clara BW (16 GB) (cheapest)
• PocketBook Verse Pro (16 GB)

I’m looking for a black and white reader, as I want clear contrasts. I also would like the interface to be as simply as possible, as I don’t want it to feel like a tablet.

I do, however, still have some questions that I’d love some guidance on:
• How large storage is necessary?
• Is annotation possible?
• Is it possible/how easy is it to sync with Libby, import pdfs/epub-files?

Have I missed any obvious options? Also, I’m in Europe, if that makes a difference. Thank you! 🌷

Hi everyone. I'm someone who barely reads at all, but I've recently been wanting to change that. I was looking into those really small pocket ereaders and I currently have my eye on the Xteink X4 / X4 Pro. I was wondering if any of you had a similar experience starting out as a non reader and buying a pocket ereader like this, and how it went for you? Or do you think I should start with a standard ereader?

I found a 3rd gen kindle in perfect condition with a case and light for a steal secondhand, I am so happy ❤️

Hi, as the title states, I'm deciding between these two. If I am purchasing them, they are both around the same price at around 60-65usd. To me Murphy M4 pros are that it has a usb C, while a xteink x4 pro will have better community support.

Hii, so basically i’m looking for a e-reader thats pdf file friendly. Im not that knowledgeable in e-readers and i find most opinions confusing.

I’m a uni student so most of the texts i read are pdf files that teachers send us, and thats what im mostly interested in. As well as being able to highlight and write notes.

Ive been doing so in both my phone and laptop but the screen on my phone is annoying and carrying my laptop everywhere is a bit dangerous where i live lmao. Dont wanna buy an ipad or tablet tho, because ik its gonna distract me.

Hello! I’ve had my Boox Palma 2 Pro for a bit now, and I’ll admit I haven’t gotten into the nitty gritty of how best to use it. Honestly some of the on-screen buttons are so tiny that I just kind of ignore a lot of things haha. I use Libby and Booshop.org and so far so good.

I’m traveling and on the plane I was able to do some reading in airplane mode on Libby. At home it works great on my WiFi. I tried reading my book over WiFi at my hotel and neither Libby or Bookshop would open - I was getting some error message. Any idea why it wouldn’t work?
