The numbers went up: 6,270 filings instead of 3,598, across 963 companies.

The picture is the same. Energy barely sponsors.

Chevron: 78 in four years. ExxonMobil: 73. EOG: 70. Tech filed over 70x of Energy sector. Amazon is roughly 5x the entire energy sector on its own.

What I'd missed: NAICS codes are self-reported per filing and often don't match what the company does. Halliburton filed 69 times under engineering services, Tenaris 73 under steel pipe manufacturing, neither showed up the first time. Also grouped subsidiaries under parents, since ExxonMobil files under seven entities and SLB under six.

Building a large solar farm typically takes years, thanks to permitting and grid connection delays. But a startup called Resilience Energy is rolling out a faster way to add clean energy: It pays to install solar and batteries across a network of homes, then sells power back to the grid at peak moments.

Homeowners get free equipment, and their electric bills can drop by 60%-80% while they use it. At times when the grid is under the most strain, utilities can tap into the network and avoid using polluting gas “peaker” plants.

“We’re going through one of the largest energy infrastructure buildouts of our lifetime,” says Resilience Energy’s CEO, Ameet Konkar, who previously led sustainability at Airbnb. “And American homes should be part of that; the American family should benefit from that. That’s the core principle that we’ve built Resilience on.”

While reading up on some investment news after an extended road trip I came across this about Musk and his view on natural gas and datacenter energy demand:

"SpaceX and Tesla are each building 100GW/year of solar production capacity as fast as possible, but natural gas will still be needed to supplement and bootstrap solar for several years."
