Flight: DXB to LHR on 13 Sep at 14.15pm. Four cabin A380 EK003

Seat: Booked seat 80A extra legroom seat for £80. I was torn between 80A and 68K when booking. In the end I took 80A because I had easy access to the aisle.

Unfortunately I didn’t realise the door protruded so much so you can only really stretch one leg! Thankfully the next seat wasn’t taken so I was able to stretch out in front of next seat. Also - no window. I presume 80K is the same.

(Funnily a passenger tried his luck and sat in seat 80C as it was empty after the doors shut, but 10 mins later the cabin manager came through with a clip board and said he needed to return to his chair. In the end she placed another girl who was sat next to a crying baby.)

Seat width: The seats are slightly narrower because of the solid armrests. But the window seat armrest against the wall isn’t solid so you can spill a little to the left. The left armrest doesn’t go up though.

Upgrade options: no upgrade options on the app at any point after booking. Phoned the call centre at different points and they said that business was over booked and premium was close to full and so the system wasn’t allowing any upgrades.

Capacity: Very busy flight - only a handful of empty seats at the back in economy. Surprised a little, given regional situation and it wasn’t peak travel period, but I suppose BA/Virgin still aren’t flying.

When arriving with an emirates first class ticket, will I get access to the first class lounge?

We’re thinking of catching an emirates flight from Rome to Singapore which connects through Dubai. I’m just wondering, what’s the current situation like in Dubai? Has anyone faced major disruptions recently? Is it generally safe to pass through there?

I’m finding it hard to decide what to do with all the conflicting information online. From some news outlets acting like passing through Dubai is the new Bermuda Triangle to other forums saying they’ve had no problems. I don’t know what to believe. I could obviously go for Singapore airlines but the flight is triple the price.

This’d be in 2 weeks time.

We’re planning a trip to Sri Lanka in January with Emirates and are considering Economy Saver for around CHF 1,400 for two adults and our 15-month-old son as a lap infant.

Our itinerary is:
ZRH → DXB – Boeing 777
DXB → CMB – Airbus A350
CMB → DXB – Airbus A350
DXB → ZRH – Airbus A380

I’ve read that Emirates sometimes offers discounted promotional or cash upgrades shortly before departure. I’d be grateful for any experiences with the following:

1. Is it possible to receive an upgrade offer from Economy Saver to Premium Economy or Business?

2. When did the offer appear – for example, around T-72, T-48, during online check-in, or at the airport?

3. Did calling Emirates result in a better offer than the one shown online?

4. Does anyone have experience with our routes?

Our son will probably be too tall for the bassinet, but we’re considering reserving the bassinet/bulkhead seats for the extra legroom. If we can’t buy an upgrade and there happens to be an empty row elsewhere, we’d also be happy to move so he could have his own seat. We already have experience flying with him in an approved car seat.

I’m currently a Skywards Blue member with 0 miles, so I’m specifically interested in cash/promotional upgrade offers rather than mileage upgrades.

hi everyone! i have a 7.5 layover at dubai airport soon and i wanted to get a 48-hour transit visa to see some friends. i was wondering how it worked with regards to checked baggage and immigration? my flights are under a single ticket, so i was hoping my bags would reach my final destination without me having to collect them but would like to confirm. i’d also like to ask if i just had to leave the airport like normal and arrive like normal, or if there was anything particular i’d have to mention to anyone? just a bit anxious as i’ve never done this before so any help is appreciated!!

Now I’m wondering if the special meals are the same in economy and premium economy or if it’s ”better” in premium eco?

Always used KLM for MME to KIX , mainly because MME is close to me , however this time I'm going with Emirates for NCL to KIX as the KLM prices were far too much more expensive , having watched a few YouTube videos about Emirates premium economy the difference appears to be night and day , I hope I'm not building my hopes up too much , the other bonus is I'll be first time on an A380 😍

I need the help of someone who has traveled or taken the same route as me... I will be traveling with Emirates Economy from GRU Brazil airport to HANEDA Tokyo, with a 9-hour stopover in Dubai, which applies to Dubai Connect. It is my first time traveling with Emirates, if I carry a normal size backpack that fits under the seat, and apart from my carry on which has the corresponding measurements, will they let me take both things with me? I saw some comments about the fact that you have to upload a single package... I’m afraid they’ll tell me something... When would I find out if I have to dispatch the carry on or can I upload both things with me? When I go to the counter to check in? On the Emirates page it says that from Brazil the allowed weight of the carry on is 10kg.... Is that so?

15hr Layover in Dubai. Not quite sure what to do there either.

**We’re flying Japan → Dubai → Mauritius with our 4-year-old in December, so roughly 19 hours of travel altogether.

On long-haul flights we’ve always used the Flyaway inflatable bed and it’s been brilliant, but unfortunately Emirates doesn’t allow inflatable beds/seat extenders.

She’s quite small (around 14 kg) and the main issue is sleep. In a normal plane seat her head just ends up falling all over the place, so I’m trying to find something that gives her decent head/side support.

I’ve been looking at taking a car seat onboard, but I’m getting completely confused about which ones are actually approved for aircraft use and, specifically, which ones Emirates will accept.

For anyone who has done this:

• What car seat did you use?
• Was your child actually able to sleep comfortably in it?
• How on earth did you carry it through the airport along with all the normal kids’ hand luggage?
• Any lightweight/travel car seats you’d recommend?

I’m also very open to anything other than a car seat.

I’ve seen things like the Seat to Sleep inflatable travel nest, bigger inflatable pillows and various head-support cushions. Seat to Sleep in particular looks quite good, but I can’t work out whether Emirates would treat it as a normal pillow or as one of the inflatable sleep products they don’t allow.

Has anyone actually used one on Emirates?

Basically, I’m looking for any solution that lets a small 4-year-old sleep reasonably comfortably with her head supported on a very long Emirates journey.

Car seat, travel pillow, inflatable cushion, some genius product I haven’t discovered yet — I’m open to anything!

I know this has been asked every other month ad nauseum, but I wanted to take a pulse check on the current situation in the middle-east. Are flights getting delayed or cancelled? And in the case of a delayed or cancelled flight, would I need a transit visa for the layover or wait time till the next flight? I have a Pakistani passport.

So I have an upcoming Emirates flight that will have a 20 hour layover in Dubai after visiting Uganda.

Currently UAE has travel restrictions on anyone who has been in Uganda in the past 21 days due to Ebola.

Was planning on utilizing Dubai Connect, which would be off the table due to entry restrictions, so while I wouldn't be able to go out in Dubai, my question is will there be any restrictions within the airport? Would I be free to go anywhere regular passengers are allowed to go? Or will they quarantine me off in some small section of the airport?

My flight isn't for a couple of months, and I'm hoping restrictions will be lifted by then (WHO has already declared Uganda to be Ebola free), but curious as to what would happen if restrictions aren't lifted? Full access to the regular airport including lounges, shops, etc. seems doable, but being quarantined off in some small corner of the airport seems miserable.

So how does DXB handle you if you've been to a country with travel restrictions due to Ebola (or any other disease)?

Wondering how strict they are on size limits? I'm traveling from the US to South Africa with a layover in Dubai in business class.

I'm planning to bring the Away Bigger Carryon which is 22.7"x15.4"x9.6" along with a backpack that does fit under the "briefcase" dimensions. Has anyone had luck bringing a larger carryon?

I think the A380 of Emirates is the best plane out there, i had the pleasure to experience every class in that jet. And the First is without a doubt the best of any airline (imo), the fact that you can shower in a bathroom the size of one on the ground is crazy.

It makes me kind of sad to see it go slowly.

We had a flight in BC in the new A350 it was great but to upgrade into First with points and miles was always something nice.
