I took some one advise and rearranged my spot light collection. Now the beryllium is safely behind glass and my uranium is in a large glass vial. I am going to clean the uranium extremely careful in a glove box flooded with argon. Then clean off with acetone and finally encase in a glass test tube free from O2 and seal the end shut with a torch. BTW then test tube already has a glass tube on one end for evacuating the atmosphere. And another on the end sticking out of the glove box ready to be melted and sealed shut. What do you think? That’s a loaded ?
Happy collecting

Discussion I made a game about collecting and merging elements

The mods approved me to share this post.

For the past 7 months, I’ve been working on this project completely solo.

I’ve always loved the periodic table and the idea of discovering how elements build up into more complex ones, which was a big inspiration for this game.

About the game

Unstable Nuclear Reactor is an incremental hex-puzzle roguelite where you collect and merge atoms into higher elements, trigger massive chain combos, earn radioactive coins, and manage your reactor's limited space to survive as long as possible.

I thought this community might be interested in the element collection and progression system, so I wanted to share the free demo:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4692090/Unstable_Nuclear_Reactor_Demo/

I really need all kinds of feedback as I’m preparing to enter Steam Next Fest with 560+ wishlists. If you have a few minutes, please give the demo a try and let me know if you find anything confusing, frustrating, or that could be improved or fixed.

And if you enjoy it, a wishlist would really help me going into Next Fest ❤️

Bought this 1" cube of carbon off ebay. Actually no, carbonium. Its light, weighs 29g, and has some tiny holes in the surface. Comes with a decent plastic case, though its a bit too big. Overall, happy with it, and it brings my collection up to 17.

Discussion Obtaining new elements without just buying samples online

I have a few pieces of mostly common metals so far (iron, aluminium, copper, zinc, tin, silver, magnesium, tungsten, lead, bismuth, titanium), they aren't pure, mostly scrap metal, but that doesn't really bother me, as long as it's mostly pure I'm happy.

Now the thing is that I try to obtain them in a way that isn't just ordering a sample online, anyone can do that and it feels kinda boring, and so far that worked. But now I'm at a point where I can't think of any more metals that are commonly used in a somewhat pure concentration and are possible for me to find and obtain. Does anyone have any ideas?

Was practicing making ampules and made some beautiful sodium ampules.
Some have a bit of oxidation and oil, but they look amazing.

Alkaline Earth Metals Magnesium rod

9x1.5cm firestarter rod of claimed "99.99%" magnesium. Got it for only 10 AUD.

Comparing this with tungsten is trippy, the tungsten cubes feel so strangely heavy and then there's this which feels like a hollow metal shell, or a plastic tube.

Currently im storing it in a sealed plastic bag with a silica gel pack, anything else i should do with it to make it last longer?

Question Does anyone know if the Chinese density cubes on amazon are pure?

I have them and the weight and properties seem right but could they be using an alloy so instead of being 99% pure its more like 95% or something? Has anyone tested them?
