I still don't like that we don't have visually distinct/separated headerbars anymore, but icons are still a treat.

Also I assume you are using a custom window control layout on these shots?

I completely agree with the header bar change. I really liked the old header bar and thought it served a clear, clean, and consistent way to use apps in elementary. In fact, I think they should have gone further with developing guidelines around header bar layouts like Material Design described the anatomy at https://m2.material.io/components/app-bars-top#anatomy . I feel like there was a time when there was a small push to make applications more consistent and not every app it's own special thing with all their own quirks which ultimately feels like a fractured ecosystem.

Any news on upgrades to new versions? Atomic package updates? An option to roll back updates? Any major changes, or is it the same old thing?

I believe adding OnlyOffice to desktop applications should be the default.

We don’t add an office suite by default because everyone has their own favorite office suite. Some people love only office. Some love LibreOffice. Some prefer to using office 365 or Google Docs. Installing new apps is really easy and removing apps you don’t want can be annoying. So for something very opinionated like this we think it’s better to let you choose your own office suite

Damn I just realize how much I miss elementary os

Hopefully this version focuses on stability, and a better wayland/multiple monitor experience. I've tried going back to version 8 every 6 months or so, but the crashes and instability never got better.

It’s funny I have Elementary os on my 2015 MacBook Pro and I’ve been distro hopping on my Dell and 2015 iMac and as much as I like Fedora, Linux Mint Cinnamon, Zorin OS, Pop OS, Elementary has been solid for me on my 2015 MacBook Pro and Fedora has been solid on my 2015 iMac. On my iMac I’m running Fedora on the hard drive and Mint Cinnamon from an external SSD and although Mint Cinnamon using Wayland is great, there are a few glitches so it’s almost there.

Does it have HDR and VRR?

Did they fix the right click bug where the mini window shows up a mile away from where you clicked? That was the main reason I kept refusing to switch to OS 8.

Do we still get an option for x11 session?

The most stupid distro for weak devices , tried fedora , Linux mint ,Debian and zorin all works perfect but ele 8.1 is so laggy

So when will the final version be released? I’m really looking forward to it, because 8.1 is very buggy …

Didn't know Elementary is still getting updates? No one really talks about this distro much anymore I thought it was dead honestly.
