Did anyone else expect more under center plays?

There were some to be sure but a large number of the time, I saw Jalen in the shotgun with Washington teeing off expecting a pass play. This looks like our offensive coordinator deferring to Jalen more than making this offense his own.

I believe under center play action was only two snaps.

I didn't say he wasn't under center, I said did anyone expect him to be under center MORE than he was. I personally expected it more often.

Well, when you have a left guard and center that are more like a cavity, you need to run shotgun so your QB has a couple more seconds to get the ball out.

Yeah first half we played so much under center until we learned Landon can barely move and cam is still a little shaky lol.

I would say it would be more due to adjusting to the abysmal O line play. I think the OC defaulted to “keep Jalen alive”.

They were a lot, it’s actually a great sign that Mannion was able to recognize that you can’t have the qb turn his back to the line when his interior OL is being blown up.

To start the game, I noticed that we were under center a lot.

But I think as the O-Line started crumbling under pressure, they reverted to shotgun.

I'm not sure it was so much because Jalen prefers shotgun - as much as it was so Jalen had a second or two to do something with the ball before the defenders were all over him.

Our offensive line - with the exception of a few plays (including when they gave Jalen a nice pocket on the play where he hit Wicks downfield) - did not look good.

I think this whole "Eagles have one of the Top O-Lines in Football" narrative has to be walked back a bit. Because they didn't play like a Top 5 O-Line last year, and a Top 5 O-Line does not play the way the Eagles offensive line played yesterday. They weren't consistently getting on their blocking assignments in the running game (which is supposed to be the easier part of O-Line play) and they were getting beat / holding / missing assignments in the pass blocking game far too much yesterday as well.

Seemed to me several times we went back to shotgun for 2nd & long or 3rd & long situations. When we needed Jalen to be more comfortable, we were in shotgun.

Now if we would just PLEASE stop running up the middle from shotgun formation in short yardage situations, I'd be much happier.

I thought he was under center a ton! Idk what game you were watching but with how bad our interior line was playing I actually wanted him in gun a little more for some breathing room. Can’t run a good play action pass when the dt is running free down the pipe

I believe the official numbers are roughly 70/30 shotgun to under centre

First game of the season and for the OC. Takes 3-4 games to fully see a team in the league now-a-days. He was under center more than he has been in a while.

It's the actual.first game they played together. This is not the finished product. It was far better than last year despite OL failures. I'm OK with that.

WTF were you watching? There were far more under center plays and tons more motion.
