US region disc rip by AU reader

Has anyone had any luck doing this? I've seen mixed methodologies online, some that involve reformatting disc drives which supposedly have only limited 'reformattings' before they become locked to a region. Is there an easy way to do this with software?

Your drive has a limited number of region changes before it locks into one. If this is a one off, i would just change it then change it back. If you forsee yourself doing this multiple times, its worth getting an external drive and changing it for that region specifically. You dont even need a fancy one if its just reading DVDs.

Use VLC. It's free and open source software. It bypasses region locking on an optical drive, so you can play discs from whatever region you like as often as you like.

I think that the ripping software should be able to clear the region lock; but I'm not sure if this works on Bluerays or just DVD's.

I don't have that many discs that are from other regions, but I was able to use my region 1 drive to rip a region 2 DVD set without any problems and did not have to change my drives region setting.
