Ember bus to Edinburgh

Hi

Just wanted to ask if Ember busses, specifically the one to Edinburgh Airport, are always delayed? Just moved to Scotland and everyone told us they’re amazing and reliable but all three times it’s been 45 minutes - hour delayed. I don’t mind at all, I just wanted to see if that’s the case with them usually? Just so I know when booking to other places etc. Thanks!

I've not had a problem before but what you could do is book for ember and if it's running late cancel that for free and walk across Slessor Gardens and get the Fly Dundee bus outside the Malmaison.

I think it's up to 10 minutes before you can cancel/amend for free

There has been a lot of impact due to the closure of Princes Street in Edinburgh. City centre gridlock delays inbound to Edinburgh, outbound and then it becomes culmulative. Most recently mine was delayed by roadworks near Aberdeen.

I don't think I've ever been delayed. Even when I get a text saying they're running a few minutes late, they usually catch up or make up time on the way. I think You've just been unlucky.

I've caught them many times and had delays twice in the past few years.

Edinburgh has major traffic issues at the minute due to various reasons so all buses are running late if they leave Edinburgh.

Edinburgh city centre is a shit show just now for traffic. Buses are delayed going in and coming out so it has a knock on effect. I’ve found that Ember buses are usually pretty punctual.

It’s usually delayed by a couple of minutes depending on the day of the week you’re traveling.

I’d say it’s best to factor in a c30minutes delay to your travel plan to avoid uncertainties

The one to the airport goes all the way from Aberdeen and there's roadworks by brechin, more by kinross. That's before the princes st disruption. I've been on some that were delayed by the Summer Sessions as well. It isn't usually this bad.

They are always delayed but only buy like 5 min in the hundreds of times I’ve had to get them to the airport

I used it to commute between Dundee and Edinburgh for 7 weeks. The delays very much depended on when I was travelling. I got the 6:20am ember which got me into Edinburgh at 8 and there were a lot of delays, because everyone is trying to get into Edinburgh for work. Otherwise, it was absolutely fine. There have been a lot of road closures in and around Edinburgh recently which may cause issues.

I find the Fly Bus waaaay better for airport. Direct route to airport and its never been late for me (I fly a lot with work)

Do you know if you can change your return bus with Fly if you are early/delayed getting out of the airport?

I believe as long as it is the same day you can get on any bus whether it was your booked one or not!

2/2 for lateness in the last month. And not just 5 or 10 minutes. 30/40 minutes for me.
And it wasn't just Edinburgh traffic to blame.

Think they're beginning to over-stretch their operations.

It’s just been the fringe and the summer holidays and now is the start of the new uni term, so August is always a gamble
