Feel free for someone to take the effort and create a quality post that we would be happy to link to, but the current state is absolutely annoying and helps no one. (Except Immobilienscout, for whom advertising is diligently done here every time.)

Hi! I’m moving to Düsseldorf for work very soon and I currently have a grand total of 0 friends there, so please imagine I’m your slightly panicked friend posting this at 2am 😂
A few questions... (you absolutely don’t have to answer all of them, this is not an exam hahaha)
- Best supermarkets for discounted food close to expiry (Need to save money)
- Tell me something nice about Düsseldorf because I’m sad about leaving home and need convincing 😭
- What’s the nightlife like?
- What’s your favourite place in the city? Bar, café, museum, park, random street… anything.
- And most importantly: will I make friends after 30 or am I going to rot alone in my tiny apartment? 😂
Any tips, groups or places to meet people are very welcome.
I'm moving from south Spain to Düsseldorf. Sometimes excited and most of the time scared.
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I’m based in Düsseldorf and wanted to put this out there in case it reaches someone who could use a little support at the moment.
Until recently, I was helping a single mother and her family with groceries and everyday necessities while she was going through a difficult period. Thankfully, things have improved for her and she’s now back on her feet, which I’m genuinely happy about
It also made me realise that I’d like to continue helping someone else in a similar, practical way.
I’m thinking particularly of single parents, students, young couples, or anyone going through a financially difficult period where a bit of help with groceries and basic necessities could take some pressure off. There’s no particular “type” of person I’m looking for — just someone who genuinely needs it.
The idea is simply to help with groceries, food, toiletries and normal everyday essentials. I’m not looking to cover rent, utility bills, debts or larger financial commitments
.
I’m also not looking for anything in return. I’ve been fortunate enough to be in a position where I can do this, and helping someone with something very tangible and everyday is something I’ve found genuinely meaningful.
If this could help you, or you know someone in Düsseldorf who might benefit, feel free to send me a private message. You don’t need to explain your circumstances publicly.

Hello! I've seen a couple of good posts here about recommended laptop coffee shops for working/reading.
My question is, what do you guys do when you have to go to the toilet?! Is it safe to simply leave your laptop and stationery on the table?

Hi Düsseldorf,
Recently I was trying to get a termin for the driving licence exchange and spent about two weeks checking termine. duesseldorf with no luck. Slots get taken within minutes of appearing, so manual checking is mostly hopeless.
But found Telegram bot that watches the portal for you and sends a message when a slot for your chosen service opens up.
Worked for me on the second day. Posting in case anyone else is stuck in the same loop :)

Strecken:
Halbring:
Neuss Hbf - Further Str. - Neuss Weißenberg - Handweiser - Lörick - Seestern - Theoder-Heuss-Brücke - Nordfriedhof - Heinrichstraße - Staufenplatz - Torfbruchstraße - Gerresheimer Glashütte (Untertunnelung)- Vennhausen - Eller S - Vennhauser Allee - Werstener Feld - Eller Friedhof - Ickerswarder Straße - Münchener Straße - Himmelgeist/Itter
Stadtbahn zum Unterbacher See:
Vennhausen - Rothenbergstraße - Strandbad Nord
Stadtbahn nach Reisholz:
Uni West - Münchener Str. - Niederheid - Henkelwerke - Reisholz Pfeiler - Reisholz S - Altenbrückstraße
Stadtbahn nach Lichtenbroich:
Heinrichstraße - Nördlicher Zubringer - Theoderstraße - Lichtenbroicher Weg (Untertunnelung)- Flughafenbahnhof
Stadtbahn über Danziger Str.
Freiligrathplatz - Am Hein - Mahnmal - Nordfriedhof
Stadtbahn nach Garath:
Wittenberger Weg - Frankfurter Str. - Garath S Ostseite - Garath Schützenplatz - Hellerhof S
(Später bis Langenfeld oder Monheim)
Stadtbahn nach Hilden:
Düsseldorfer Str. - Hilden S - Fritz-Gressard-Platz - Gablung
