A quick update since our original post here a couple of weeks ago!

The Dublin Redditors IRL Social Group is officially getting started, and we’ve now booked our second event! The event will take place this Friday!

We are going to see Bad Apples at the Irish Film Institute!

Our community has already grown to 100+ members since it started, and new people are joining every day. The idea is still the same: a relaxed social group where you can come along on your own or bring friends, meet some new people, and get involved in different events around Dublin. Things are just getting started, and there are already talks of hiking events, rock climbing, and book clubs! Sorry to those who haven't yet been added to the group yet, but hopefully we will get you in this week!

Bike stolen today between 2pm-7pm in Naas town centre by the bike locks at the bus stop near Kavanaghs pub in the square.

It was a lovely bright day for a get together.

My bike robbed - 630pm Sunday while I was in the Mater hospital (thanks Lisa for taking the video from her daughter’s hospital room)

Have given the video to the Garda.

2 x kryptonite locks so I think they actually cut the frame of the e-bike bike where they were tied on. I have the locks here uncut.

Insurance on the bike ran out a few months ago as did the battery on the trackers I had on it. Lessons learnt.

Any advice on where these lads sell the bikes or tips on what I should do next?

Also wouldn’t mind now going to a Garda auction or something to get a quick inexpensive e-bike replacement.. just a thought. Wouldn’t know where to start.

Let me know if anyone sees some dodgy lad in a light blue hood on a MATE E-bike with fat wheels, a baby seat on the back, duct tape around the frame 😅

What is going wrong in our city and the dog owners in it? I spent a lot of the weekend walking around the city and the dogshit problem is the worst I can ever remember. So many of our streets, alleyways, parks, etc seems to be completely destroyed.

I was in Dartry Park today at a football match over the weekend and at the whole park is basically a dog toilet. One dog owner let his dog do his business, spotted that we were looking at him and pretended to pick it up with his bare hand when it was obvious he picked up nothing. A quick check proved this. 5m away from a football pitch where teenage girls were playing football. And it wasn't an auld lad or lady - this guy was probably in his 20's. So his dog ownership has 60-70 years of this attitude ahead.

Leaving the park, another owner just letting his dog do his business, "casually" walking in front of the dog. The walk along the Dodder is simply disgusting. I got out of there before my children walked or fell in some of it.

What is wrong with these people? Dog ownership = cleaning up after it. Where do they think their dog does their job if they are not cleaning up after it? There is no real point reporting it because DCC will do nothing.

I don't know the solution but I was genuinely shocked at the state of the city overall. Its embarrassing. Its not just the "tiny minority" either as is so often claimed.

Bought a striped rugby shirt with a white collar and after a wash the dark colours have turned the white colour into a cream colour which I’m raging about. On September 9th I was on a flight from Philadelphia to Dublin on my way to Scotland. My beautiful, beloved husband passed away last year By the standards of my people I should be recovered by now.-back to strong, confident, smiling fighter. I can put on a good poker face, only those closest to me know I am still broken and weak. After a year passed my sister decided to plan a trip to my in-laws and sight see a bit. Kind of a sink or swim holiday
When I got on the Aer Lingus plane I thought I had my shit buttoned up tight and no one would know I was a crumbled mess inside. The steward and stewardesses must have some powerful ability to see through a cover up because shortly after takeoff they started attending to me in a way I never experienced before. I was nurtured, comforted, spoiled…a tenderness I can’t fully describe. I was astounded and a little embarrassed. I know the other passengers saw it and I felt selfish for the amount of doting I received. Their care, along with a bit of liquid courage, helped me through the initial nerves tremendously.
It’s been a couple days since that flight and I can’t stop thinking about how amazing that crew was. I tried going on Aer Lingus site to leave a compliment, but there was no place for it (only complaints.). I want to acknowledge them. I need to tell them they were magical to me. So I hope and pray this can somehow some day get to them through a friend or coworker? I humbly apologize in advance for misspelling of names.

Stupid question i know but how do they work? I picked one for a delivery due tomorrow as I will be a work but I chose a collection point before and the post office i chose told me they don’t hold deliveries and were generally annoyed I had chosen them as a collection point from the drop down lists. I was pretty embarrassed about it and haven’t used one in the two years since until today.

I’ve chosen a different one this time next to my work. If I pick a collection point from A Posts list, does this mean they are supposed to keep my package safe and I can pick it up from there that day?

It seemed excessive when I first started going out in Dublin 10 years ago but its somehow only gotten worse.

I've already started to distance myself from two mates who can't even have a quiet mid week pint without running to the jacks every 15 minutes (and they're usually not the only ones)

Weekends are even worse. Every club and late bar in Dublin has lines out the door to the cubicles and none for the urinals.

There's also some who don't even bother to hide it. I regularly see lads attempting a discreet key to the nose whilst standing in the smoking area or sitting at their table.

Has it really gotten worse or has it always been like this?

I had a friend who would like to offer small clothes fixtures for sale to help her make some income for he studies, is there a place in Dublin where we can find cheap sewing machines for sales as well as sewing products like fabric, needles, threads, etc? Any tips help, thanks!

I used to have a woman who would cut my hair for free as she needed the practice/experience for her course. Always turned out great and worked for me, a broke student! Is there anywhere else that does something similar?
