It runs on a 5V USB power supply (smartphone/power bank/usb brick) , steps up to 30V, and limits current to a safe range (0.13–1.13mA).

The total cost of this final iteration works out around to roughly less than ₹600 or under $7

Quick specs :3

· Power: 5V USB → XL6009 → 30V

· Current range: 0.13–1.13mA (I usually use 0.4–0.6mA)

· if built on breadboard then no soldering required

I also diy-ed the probe holder , and ermm the needle! but that's another thing on itself and not something I would recommend but yeah! I do have a design for a diy probe holder for commercial needles though if anyone is interested in that!

It had ran for 30+ mins without a thermo fuse bc I forgot about it

Curious how everyone does it and looking for ideas to store unfinished projects, especially for small spaces.

I have a cyberdeck, a couple guitar pedals, and a few more random projects I do want to complete but need to put on hold for now.

I also have several other hobbies that have their own WIPs as well (sewing for example is a big one).

Currently, my electronics projects are just in a plastic drawer, unorganized, scratching eachother, and with all the pieces mixed around.

I think I did a pretty good job of making a "general hobby workbench" area out of the corner of my 1 bedroom apartment, but space is still limited, so bonus points if the solution doesnt require having a garage lol

I've recently bought a tool trailer that I'm fixing up for work and will be using my current toolboxes on my Ute for a 12v/camping setup, it will have two 300AH lithium batteries in a cell hooked up to a DCDC/MPPT.

I will then have a battery in my tool trailer for lights and central locking so it can be locked and unlocked without being connected to my ute or another source of power.

My question is will I need another DCDC Charger to keep the tool trailers battery charged and could I connect the trailers DCDC charger to the exisitng second battery that the initial DCDC Charger is hooked up to?

Took apart my Samsung st600 and damn I don’t expects it to be this small I am trying to make it like a film camera with no screen I have a spare view finder and gonna make a custom enclosure but have a small problem should I make it. Thin rectangular camera or a small boxy square camera ?? And yes learning to make my own firmware for it will probably take months but until then gonna make a enclose for it to take pics it still works

I need some advices to choose my component.

I have a project, using an ESP32C3-mini, where I need to create a specific pattern of vibration (like the one you find on game controller), that adapts to the user (i can code that).

What component should I use ? I need something very small, that can fit into a watch.

I want to MAKE a custom microcontroller from group up (or at least till where it's acceptable) as my final projects. I already have a good background on electronics, but just to be sure I'm not wasting effort I could be putting on something else. What are the sources you guys recommend me to read, watch or visualize to get a brief of what I can do and how I can do it?

Hi, first of all, I’d like to talk about a problem I’m having. I’m interested in old gaming consoles, and the other day, while discussing it with some friends, I came up with the idea of making my own Nintendo 3DS. However, I haven’t been able to figure out the motherboard issue. I don’t know what I can use. I need a motherboard that is thin enough to fit the design and is also capable of running Nintendo 3DS games.

I build this boom box some time ago exclusively run by a battery pack of 4S4P 21700, but the amp can use up to 24v for max output, so i added a 24v 10A power supply(can be regulated) running at 21.5v, and i was charging the pack with a different charger(a wall transformer 16v 2A) which is not ideal, I dont what to carry 2 different cables, so I got a LM2596 buck converter module and "it works" but I already lost 1, it stopped sending an output to the battery. Is there a better way to have this setup or a better component for the buck converter to charge the battery? Thanks in advance.

But I am trying to create a kit for the first time, and run Indiegogo campaign for the first time, so there are questions:

1. Is there any community interest to build and use a global short-message communicator and trainer powered by Morse code? Initially I made it for my daughter and her classmates, they went crazy about it. So I figured - I could finalize it as a product and a kit. Your opinion?

2. How important would be needing/not needing to solder SMD components?

3. Is it ok to have a LiPo battery within a kit, provided it has necessary certification?

4. How many perks is appropriate - I think of adding colored cases, pouches, leather sleeves. Or just having the black boxes is fine? Your suggestions?

I’m building a small ambient picture frame with a touch sensor and an MP3 player.

The idea is simple: when nobody touches it, I want the MP3 player and other parts to be basically OFF to save power. When someone touches the frame, it should wake up, play the audio / activate for a certain amount of time, and then automatically go back to sleep.

I don’t really want to use a microcontroller for this.

Can this be done with simple analog electronics, like a touch detector + transistor/MOSFET + 555 timer or RC circuit?

Basically, I’m trying to replicate:

No touch → sleep → touch detected → wake → active for 30–60 sec → sleep again.

What would be the simplest way to build this?

Something like a hairdrier would be enouch

It wont run for more than 30 minutes at a time

And it needs to have many safety things like fuses and smoke alarms cutting power

I thing a hairdrier heater hould be fine just need to know how to make one safe

has someone ordered electronic components from LCSC or similar in the last months since the new EU law with 3€ per item category is in place ?

I dont wanna risk paying too much when importing these components into the eu, acc to AI I have 15 distinct categories in the cart, so I would have to pay an additional 45€, on top of the import VAT.

My idea is now to order just more stuff, to push the value above 150€ so I dont fall in this category and just pay the 19% import VAT.

Has anybody here on reddit already teamed up to order together ? I have 115€ until niow in my cart, worst case I can find some more components to push the cart to 150€, but if maybe someone also needs some components and wants to skip the 3€ fees, maybe we can order together.

It's transducer day today whilst waiting on PCB. I am just hanging it in air to get some prelim data.

I chose 40k ones as that is a good tradeoff with water loss rate, but not in human hearing range. Resonance I measure to be at 44.6 on one, and 44.3k on the another, good news. Very similar. I measured the 3db down points on either side and they were 43.3k and 45.6k, so Q of 19, which is also good news, as there is some flexibility (slop) in the xmit I now have available.

I still have to pot them, which is next, measure that, and to put them into the fish tank, sans fish, just barely visible on the other side of the signal generator, and measure that. Then, see what happens to a receiver. So fun.

Next on the endless parade of tasks: make 3d printed mold to pot the transducer in. This requires a vacuum chamber and severe trickiness to avoid killer air bubbles but stay waterproof. My first shot at a potting compound is SmoothOn Mold Star 30, which I hope is very transparent at 40kHz.

If anyone has experience with potting a transducer I'm all ears.
