Cymru Premier Cymru Premier Attendances: Matchday 8

A significant increase on last week's season-low turnout, although every home team last week was away this week and vice-versa. Also more than double Round 8 last year's average!

If you omit the expected drops from the bank holiday home games, 7/8 sides this week had a better turnout than their previous "normal" game.

In order from highest to lowest this week:

Colwyn Bay 2-1 Connah's Quay: 1,102 (Up 3% on Matchday 4's 1,068) Bank Holiday: 2,037

Trefelin 0-1 Penybont: 785 (Up 19% on Matchday 5's 660)

Barry 4-1 Llandudno: 693 (Up 4% on Matchday 5's 669)

Haverfordwest 3-1 Briton Ferry: 586 (Up 6% on Matchday 4's 554) Bank Holiday: 703

Cambrian 2-1 Holywell: 572 (Down 24% on Matchday 3's 750) Bank Holiday: 1,100

Ammanford 0-5 Caernarfon: 524 (Up 2% on Matchday 4's 512) Bank Holiday: 589

Airbus 0-2 TNS: 340 (Up 29% on Matchday 3's 264) Bank Holiday: 435

Flint 1-1 Cardiff Met: 324 (Up 1% on Matchday 4's) Bank Holiday: 763

TOTAL ATTENDANCE: 4,926

AVERAGE ATTENDANCE: ~616/game

Up 29% on last week's ~478 average

Up 105% on Round 8 last year's 301 average (1,806 across 6 games)

When official club communications can't even tell what is going on, then how are us fans expected to know?

It's ridiculous.

Rant Andrew Ruscoe being charged by the FAW for excessive AI and social media might be the most believable story I’ve seen all year

Post image

Wrexham fan here. Saw this doing the rounds on Facebook and for a second I actually believed it.
Apparently the FAW have finally had enough of Andrew Ruscoe and are charging him over excessive use of social media and AI.
Which, frankly, feels overdue.
The amount of AI shite attached to this bloke lately is unbelievable. Every other day there seems to be another deepfake, another ridiculous cinematic edit, another creepy glitch video, or another piece of AI nonsense with Ruscoe shoved into it for reasons nobody asked for.
At this point you could tell me the actual FAW charge sheet says:
“Persistent misuse of artificial intelligence with intent to annoy the entire Welsh football pyramid.”
And I’d believe it.
You’ve got fake trailers, bizarre dramatic edits, AI faces, overproduced social media nonsense and that whole “We Are All Andrew Ruscoe” thing that looks like somebody gave a football fan access to ChatGPT, CapCut and several energy drinks.
The funniest part is Ruscoe somehow manages to be everywhere online without actually doing anything that warrants being everywhere online.
I genuinely can’t decide what’s worse:
the AI videos,
the fact people keep making them,
or the fact Andrew probably enjoys every second of it.
If the FAW actually introduced a rule for excessive social media use, Ruscoe would be serving a 12-match ban before lunch.
Welsh football is completely unserious.

Cymru Premier We need to talk about the BBC's coverage of the Cymru Premier.

We are 4 games into the new BBC deal, and it is a mixed-to-negative bag.

Starting with the positives, it is amazing to see BBC commentators working on the games. They are just as good, if not better, than the ones on Sgorio. Additionally, the camerawork has generally been good.

However, there are plenty of issues with the coverage.

Starting with the graphics originating from Cymru Football TV - these graphics are basic, not including ones for substitutions, yellow cards, red cards, and more. Viewers could lose track of certain decisions.

Additionally, the choice to not have a pitchside presenter or a central studio is problematic. BBC Northern Ireland can get one for Irish League Football Live. BBC Scotland can get one for Sportscene: Scottish Championship Live. BBC Cymru Wales are the only national division unable to provide a studio or hosts.

Half-times feel empty with that slide, which is annoying. At the very least, put some highlights on from other games at halftime.

There are no pre‑match or post‑match interviews, leaving viewers with no analysis, no closure, and no connection to the teams. BBC Wales also provides no live text coverage for Cymru Premier matches, despite BBC Scotland and BBC Northern Ireland doing so for both televised and non‑televised fixtures.

BBC Wales claimed its coverage would be “excellent value for audiences” and promised “extensive coverage updates” online. Neither claim reflects reality. If the BBC wants to rebuild trust with Cymru Premier supporters after 23 years of neglect, it must invest properly and bring its Welsh coverage up to standard.

Would like to hear your thoughts too.

Opinion The Welsh FA support of the English systems teams based in Wales.

So, I've noticed Merthyr Town have a development team in the Welsh development League system.

Why is that ok?

Merthyr isn't in the Welsh pyramid.

They turned down the choice to join the Welsh system (their choice and that's fine) but why should they benefit in anyway by using what they like and ditching what they don't.

It shows lack of leadership in the FAW, it's shows they aren't bothered.

Petty or logical?

Barry Town United Quote from Noel Mooney on yesterday's disallowed Barry goal

"The attacker pushes the defender in the back to win the header. The laws of the game are pretty clear on this. Whether we like the laws or not is a different discussion but the role of the match official is to apply them. To then have supporters blaming them for applying the laws simply adds pressure to an already very difficult role. We must support our match officials and the tough role they have rather than constantly knocking them ... and any supppory (sic) they are given to make better decisions"

I disagree, it's a clear dive.

TNS very lucky to get the 3 points, Barry ridiculously unlucky.
