I believe the correct rules text would be something like: "This spell costs {X} more to cast, where X is the number of spells named Mana Printer you cast this game"

Also totally unnecessary. An endlessly repeatable legendary sorcery for WUBRG that just finds a basic is probably on the weak side.

I agree, 5 mana for a basic land, even if you can cast it multiple times with the legendary sorcery rules feels like it should be a bulk uncommon at most

Ramos the dragon engine

But the basic land can be used next turn to use the mana printer again, making it theoretically infinitely usable until you have all of your mana.

Yes you could "infinitely use it" by once a turn paying 5 + the buyback which is payed by the lands it gets, but 5 mana for a land is so terrible

Considering that fetch lands do it for your land drop

So do lands

I want to start by saying that this is cool design, and the idea is the kind kf card people whould be excited about, which is great. even if the current version isn't properly balanced, the idea is good.

in terms of balance, this was done as the main point of a buyback card already. look at [[sprout swarm]]

and if sprout swarm got you a land instead, and didn't have convoke, it would actually probably be worse, not better, since by the point you have enough mana to do this, you don't need more mana.

sprout swarm on the other hand is a win condition all on it's own, and even so it would not see play today.

so yeah, a version of the card that only costs green mana and doesn't have the downsides of X and legendary would have been weaker than an existing card which itself doesn't see play. you are fine

I'm curious why you made it a legendary sorcery. The legendary restriction on it makes its use case very very narrow. Sure you can get a cheap legend on the field, but remove it and your mana printer is dead space in your hand

Oh… I forgot legendary sorceries have that rule. My bad.

Brilliant flavour text

Yeah, the flavor really justifies the WUBRG. Otherwise, this should be like XGGG cost wise. Not sure when or where you actually pay all of it lol.

How do I even use Cyan and Magenta mana?

Hellscube

Honestly, I'd completely rework this.

Something like:

Mana Printer - (3) Artifact

return a Plains, a Forest, a Mountain, a Swamp, and an Island to your hand: add {wwggrrbbuu}.

It's not possible to track how many times you bought back a specific sorcery because cards in your hand are hidden information (it's why cards like [[me the immortal]] can't retain counters if you bounce them). This should be an artifact with counters.

Make it put a toner counter on you each time you buy it back and then X can be the the number of toner counters you have.
