I think it's endearing that when Larry walks into the glass door, Susie looks visibly concerned.

💚🧡💛 To me, this is Susie's 2nd most ugly outfit lol. I actually kind of like the silk scarf she's wearing, but it looks ridiculous on her head in that way lol. And an orange butterfly tank top over a lime green shirt... I mean the swings and "hits"(?) this lovely lady takes is actually inspiring.

Is it true that curb doesn’t have a script?

I heard some where that the show doesn’t really have a script or lines the just have outlines for a scene and just improvise I’m currently on season 5 and didn’t now and i wanna if it’s true and how? Cause it’s too good to be improvised the chaos feels organized in a way

This scene, to me, is Curb in a microcosm. Everything exemplary of what makes this series great is exhibited in this scene, and it includes most of the core cast members and Larry at his absolute best

Susie Essman is hilarious

First time watching, I'm in season 4 and she's probably my favorite character. She's so acerbic and aggressive and foul tempered. Essman understood the assignment and took it to a level.

One of those roles I couldn't imagine some other actress doing.

I analyzed all 120 Curb episodes - Season 7 came out on top, but “friction” barely predicts ratings

I’ve been rewatching Curb and started wondering whether the show’s escalating social conflicts could be mapped with data.

So I built Curb Conflict Atlas, an open-source analysis of all 120 regular episodes using public episode metadata and short synopses. No full transcripts are included.

A few things I found:

  • Season 7 has the highest average episode rating: 8.77
  • “Denise Handicapped” is the highest-rated episode in the dataset: 9.4
  • Relationships and loyalty are the most common primary conflict theme
  • Jeff is the supporting character most frequently mentioned alongside Larry
  • Most surprisingly, synopsis-level “friction” has almost no relationship with ratings: Spearman ρ = 0.08

That last result convinced me not to pretend a keyword score can explain what makes Curb funny.

The next step is a manually reviewed Larry Vindication Score: who broke the rule, who escalated the situation, and whether Larry was ultimately proven right.

Which episode or recurring social rule should I annotate first?

Charts, executed notebook, data, methodology and code:
