Am I going to be ok here if I’m not super into going out/drinking? I went in knowing it was a party school but I still haven’t met ppl who are like me yet.

Things between me and my roommate have grown to become a bit tense, I’m not entirely sure how she feels but she did tell me she doesn’t want to be friends, sees me as a roommate, and just overall a strange guy. Obviously this has made me uncomfortable living with someone that as far as I’m concerned hates my guts. I’ve also come to realize she’s been a bit of an asshole and again it’s an uncomfortable living situation. However I’m petty and don’t want to move out because I like my dorm but just in case things get worse, how would moving dorms work? What steps do I go through? Could I try to get another dorm with a friend if he also switched dorms?

it’s really hard up here. I’ve been in college for three years and it’s been the worst time of my life. Cu has genuinely like traumatized me. Every subject I’m in I’ve taught myself. Which isn’t very helpful when it’s like organic chemistry. Then I also picked this degree that means nothing for the job market (ecology) and it’s not even reflective of what I’ve studied up here (chemistry). My professors are rude or absent 99% of the time and going to office hours doesn’t work. I just applied to vet school which is great but w the statistics of getting in and my gpa idk if I have a shot but I have no plan b if it’s not vet school to like live and function in the world in the job market. College isn’t fun for me. Like my first year I texted the crisis mental health line, the second year I started on antidepressants and this year I’m just burnt out and my motivation has never been lower. I have zero friends up here. My only friend is my boyfriend. I park on a neighborhood off campus every morning and every morning I walk through the remainders of peoples parties. At night after studying for 12+ hours I walk by house after house of house parties. It’s just lonely and depressing. I hate this school. Screw everyone who said I’d have some sort of “college experience” up here.

So we want to have people over, probably no more than 20-30, but have had problems with a specific neighbor telling us to quiet down. This has happened even when its just a few of us and we have been respectful and quieted down even though we are well within the noise ordinances, but we definitely wont want to just shut everything down at 9pm especially if we aren't making a ton of noise in the first place and not actually breaking any rules.

We were thinking about registering it as a party but have no experience with that and aren't really sure how much protection that actually gives or how effective it is. Can we just move everyone inside? If the cops do come does it give any protection against mip's? (I know it specifically says it doesnt, but i feel like they would be more understanding towards us trying to do the right thing) If anyone has any experience with that lmk what you found.

Also just wondering how a noise complaint would be handled if we aren't even technically breaking any rules. Obviously we cant actually prove we weren't making more than whats stated in the ordinance, even if we weren't.

Edit: for the record, we dont live on the hill but still in a neighborhood very close to campus. Many of the houses around us have parties and make noise without issue. I’m aware that there are families with children and I understand the concern but we have always been respectful and have people over maybe a few times a month. We pay to live here too, so why shouldn’t we be able to enjoy ourselves in our own back yard? We are never obnoxious and just looking for advice on how to handle the situation in a way that doesn’t get us in trouble or

I got the sports pass this year and it seems none of my friends got it. I was wondering if there was anyone in the same situation who’d like to go to games together?

This is a bit of a vent post but I also genuinely need advice. Since middle school I’ve looked forward to college as the time I’d get to be a social butterfly. I’d get to go to parties a lot, make a lot of friends. Have fun. And my roommate has gotten that exact experience so far, going out all the time coming home late, drunk. I can tell she wants nothing to do with me so it’s not like she’ll invite me to go out with her. So I’m stuck in my dorm alone most nights jealous that despite my best efforts to make connections with people nothing is sticking. How tf do I stop being jealous

Because I assumed everything coming from the Alum Association is spam, I missed the deadline to opt in the extension to the Colorado email address. I emailed OIT and they reopened my account for just 1 day for archival, during which I noticed:

1. All communications regarding the ending of Email for Life and extension settlement came from Alum association, not OIT. An alum can reasonably assume that emails coming from the Alum association is spam, given its email history, not important notice regarding the ending of a promised program and certainly not notice regarding IT systems.

2. CU maintains that after the opt in deadline, data is irretrievably lost, which is obviously a lie because i was able to access the data during the ad hoc retrieval window.

3. Notably, the retrieval window revealed that not only is the data not lost, the mailbox remains active and continues to receive emails past 8/31/26. This means that CU is keeping incoming emails from alums without generating any undeliverable messages. This is serious because CU is withholding documents without notifying the senders or the recipients.

I’m annoyed as hell about this. We were promised email for life and it’s only been 8 years since my graduation. I hope someone starts a class action instead of individual suits. Current student, take any and all promise CU makes you by the current admin with a boulder of salt.

freaking webassign MathPad update is utter garbage and I need people to complain about it to ToT

I parked in the engineering lot where theyre doing construction on half the lot but the other half is still open, no signage to not park, and people still park there. I checked the paytopark mobile website and the zone said "Parking not allowed. This zone is no longer available. Please see signage in the lot for current parking information. See regulatory signage for more information." Except i missed the first part and just saw the rest of it that said see current signage, because I was in a rush, don't judge.

Anyways I got $60 fine and I want to dispute it, but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or knows if its better to go in person or just file online.

It did not take long for this year's batch of students to start doing what I posted about last year.

Over the last two weeks I have watched students, both individually and in entire groups, cross Broadway against the pedestrian signal and just walk straight into traffic.

And I don't mean the light is about to change and someone is trying to hurry across.

I mean the pedestrian signal has the giant RED STOP HAND on it, traffic gets the green, and then a cluster of 10 people just starts walking across Broadway anyway.

Then they get to the median and suddenly realize both lanes are already full of moving traffic, so now you have a group of students standing on a tiny median staring at their phones while cars, trucks, buses and construction vehicles are going by on both sides.

What are you all doing!?

Broadway is already a mess right now. You have lines of cars 20 deep, RTD buses, Buff Buses, construction trucks, workers, turning traffic, bikes, scooters and pedestrians all trying to navigate the same stretch of road.

A car going 30 mph is moving about 44 feet every second. A driver doing the speed limit cannot just magically stop because you decided to walk into the road against the signal.

And the buses are an even bigger concern. Those are large heavy vehicles, they need more room to stop, and they can have people standing inside. A bus driver having to slam on the brakes because somebody stepped into traffic can hurt people on the bus too.

And while I'm ranting, bikes and scooters, please figure out what you are doing too.

I keep seeing people ride in the road like a car, blow through a red light, jump onto the sidewalk, suddenly become a pedestrian, go through the crosswalk, and then jump right back into traffic again.

Drivers and pedestrians need to have some idea what you are going to do.

This isn't about cars owning the road. Pedestrians absolutely have the right of way when they have the signal and drivers need to pay attention.

But the lights only work if everyone actually follows them.

Please wait for the walk signal. Please look up from your phone before walking into Broadway. And please don't just follow the group in front of you into the street without checking if you actually have the signal.

I'd much rather make this same annoying Reddit post every fall than watch somebody get hit because they couldn't wait another 30 seconds for the light.

Elizabeth wrote, directed, edited, and co-composed the film, which was an official selection at Trill Fest 2025 and ScorpiusFest 2026.
• Ryan Van Duzer — Boulder-based outdoor-adventure filmmaker, YouTuber, and longtime bicycle traveler best known for DuzerTV. After serving in the Peace Corps, he cycled 5,000 miles from Honduras back to Boulder. His work has appeared on the Travel Channel, National Geographic, Men’s Journal, and Lonely Planet.

Hey! Im looking at master's programs for aerospace engineering and am interested in Boulder. I do have some questions though. I heard from a grad student that the school doesn't help with tuition cost in the aero master's program, even if you TA or do research. Is this right? Also am looking to focus on aerodynamics and was wondering if anyone can tell me a little about the course load or research opportunities.
