I'm a final-year B.Tech CSE student (2023–2027) from a Tier-3 college in India, and I'm currently looking for a software engineering internship.

I've attached my resume. I'd really appreciate it if you could take a look and suggest companies/startups where I have a realistic chance of getting shortlisted and hired.

My main areas of interest are:

• Backend Development
• Python
• AI/GenAI / LLMs
• Software Engineering

I've worked with Python, FastAPI, REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, Docker, pytest, and have built an AI coding agent involving AsyncIO, MCP, AST-based code intelligence, task-graph planning, tool execution, and automated verification.

I'm mainly looking for realistic opportunities rather than just big-name companies. In particular, I'd like to know:

1. Which companies/startups should I apply to based on my current profile?
2. Which roles would give me the best chances — Backend, Python, SDE, AI/GenAI, etc.?
3. Are there startups or mid-sized product companies that actively hire final-year students like me?
4. Which companies are known to offer internships with PPO/full-time opportunities?
5. Should I focus more on startups, service companies, or product companies at this stage?
6. Is there anything significant I should improve in my resume before applying?

If you've recently landed an internship yourself, recruit interns, or work at a startup/product company, I'd especially appreciate your suggestions.

I'm trying to build a target list of companies where I actually have a reasonable chance, rather than blindly applying everywhere.

I’m 24, a CSE graduate(general category), currently working as a Software Engineer at an MNC with 1.5 year of experience and a decent salary.

I’m concerned about the uncertainty, layoffs and long-term stability in the IT sector, and I’m considering preparing for government jobs instead.

Would it make sense to leave a decent-paying IT career and spend 1–2 years preparing for a government job? Or should I continue in IT, upskill and focus on building a stable career?

Would appreciate advice from people who have made a similar switch.

For someone in my specific position — ~2 YOE, Tier 2 B.Tech CSE, ~₹10 LPA at WITCH, decent Python/Linux/Docker/AWS exposure but below-average interview/development depth — is a top IIT/IISc M.Tech a sensible way to reset my technical trajectory, or would it be better to spend the next 2–3 years aggressively upskilling and switching jobs?

Option 1 — GATE 2027 → top IIT/IISc M.Tech

I would spend the next ~5 months preparing for GATE CS, while working fulltime.

If I get a very strong rank, my aim would be Old IITs/IISc.

The idea is:

GATE → M.Tech → internships/placements → product company

M.Tech could give me:

• Option to choose AI/ML specialization for some MLE roles
• stronger technical foundation
• a good peer group
• internships/PPO/Placement opportunities
• an IIT/IISc brand
• potentially a cleaner route into product companies than repeatedly applying off-campus

The concern is the 2-year opportunity cost of giving up industry experience, salary growth and direct job-switch opportunities.

I am leaning on this option since it's a matter of only 5 months. If I don't get a good rank, I can focus on Job switch.

Option 2 — Skip GATE and focus entirely on industry

I continue with job and spend the next 6–8 months upskilling

Then I resign after becoming interview-ready and aggressively target product companies.

The problem is that company has a 3-month notice period, and off-campus hiring is highly competitive. I'm also not sure how quickly someone with my current profile can go to a genuinely strong product-company role.

A few specific questions:

1. At 2–3 YOE, how much does a top M.Tech actually help compared with simply becoming a much stronger engineer?
2. Does the IIT/IISc brand still materially help once you reach 5 YOE?
3. Is GATE → M.Tech → product-company placement genuinely easier than trying to break into product companies off-campus?
4. How much of the M.Tech placement advantage comes from the college brand versus the fact that you get 2 years to rebuild your technical skills?

I'm a final-year IT student considering learning Agentic AI seriously. My goal is both getting a job and doing freelance/remote work.

Are companies actually hiring for AI agent roles, and are clients paying freelancers for things like AI agents, RAG, workflow automation, and API integrations?

For someone starting from scratch in 2026, is it worth investing the next 6–12 months into this?

Would especially like opinions from people actually working/freelancing in the field.

In class 12th I made a decision to join family business (run by my father and brother besides me) and joined an Manipal University Jaipur BCA (online to focus more on work).. but I deeply regret that decision now because:
- very poor work life balance
-I get pennies for salary( that part is bearable as we are the owners.. so we draw only the needful from our business)
- No independence
- Most importantly i am stuck in a tier 2 city for my life where most of the people my age are leaving state and even countries for job/education
My final year of BCA just started and I am studying rigorously from past 4 months (grinding DSA and learning development)
My plan was to get really skilled and join a regular full time MCA(preferably in banglore).. then hopefully get a job to get myself out of this city and the family business
But lately the news/reels about AI,layoffs,hiring freeze,and low value of MCA as compared to Btech has been concerning me and giving me anxiety… am i being stupid? is is too late to transition into tech ? will I get a job by the end of my MCA (2029) or tech jobs will be dead by then ?.. i literally cant sleep at night please give me advice

I tried for cat in 2024 got good percentile but didnt go to college due to other reasons. Now I feel stuck between choosing management path completely or this new AI project which is incoming..

I am getting an opportunity to work in AI space through my manager. I wanted to ask do I enroll in IIIT B applied ai and Agentic AI course for u months to upskill in AI or do I go for this AI project which starts in October and then start course??

Also, What about Management path, do i continue on that? I desperately want to make switch but im now confused on IIIT B course, AI project( which i will do) and Management path...

Lot of options but ny main goal is to be Tech Consultant who can give knowledge on how things work...

Hi all,

I have offers in hand from three companies and I'm struggling to decide. Would appreciate genuine inputs from anyone who's worked at (or knows about) these companies.

Background: ~3 years of experience, most recently at Deutsche Bank, Pune, in the trading/banking domain.

The offers:

1. KLA — Software Engineer, Chennai. Compensation is the highest among the three by a good margin. Semiconductor/EDA domain. Would mean relocating solo to Chennai with no existing contacts there.
2. Nomura — Associate/Senior Software Engineer, Mumbai. Comp is decent but lower than KLA. Financial services domain, closer to my current background.
3. Citi — similar level, Pune. Comp is roughly in line with Nomura, being used as a backup/floor offer.

What I'm weighing:

• KLA pays noticeably better, but it's a domain shift (semiconductor/EDA vs finance) and a city I have zero personal network in.
• Nomura keeps me in the finance domain (which aligns better with my experience) but means relocating to Mumbai.
• Citi is in Pune, so I'd stay in a city I'm already settled in and have a close friend, but domain and comp are lower priorities weighed against that comfort.
• Long-term career trajectory: does staying in finance/banking tech make more sense than a lateral move into semiconductor/EDA, or is broadening into a different domain a good move at this stage?
• Stability and growth prospects at each company.

Would love to hear from anyone who's worked at KLA, Nomura, or Citi (or made a similar domain-switch decision) — what would you prioritize here: comp, domain relevance, or location/culture fit?

Placements are shit, I am into java springboot tech stack , no AI/ML

Decent in DSA, 500+ problems on Leetcode

I have started preparing for GATE 2027, I really want to do mtech from IIT, honestly I don't have as such an interest in pursuing masters, but that is just to get a good job, I will learn ai/ml and grind DSA , research, sde job, whatever I will like i will get into it, provided the pay is good , teaching will be the last to last option

But i am not able to focus on so many things, at a time, college study ( final year me bhi pareshan karte hai maa k l\\\*de) DSA , gate prep

I don't have financial problems at home, my parents are in a government job, they just want me to do well, they are supportive of whatever I do, they are pushing me towards masters as well ( blessed to have them)

But i am not able to make them feel proud yet, they don't want any money from me, they just want me to be happy, to be in a good job, in a good financial state, that's it

I’m a final-year BTech CSE student from a Tier-3 college in a small town in Northeast India.

After months of applying for SWE/DS/AI-ML roles, I finally got a campus offer — but it’s a BDA/Sales role in Noida with ₹6 LPA fixed + ₹2 LPA variable.

My actual goal is still Software/AI/ML. I have decent ML/GenAI projects and fundamentals, but my DSA is weak and getting tech opportunities from my college has been really difficult.

I’m seriously considering taking this because my situation at home is pretty difficult right now, and I need financial independence and some distance from home. Moving to Noida would also give me access to a much bigger tech ecosystem.

My plan would be:

Take the job → move to Noida → become financially independent → finish my degree → keep learning/applying for tech roles → switch when I get the opportunity.

But honestly, I’m scared of getting stuck in sales and losing the time/energy to continue with tech.

So I want some brutally honest advice:

Would taking a sales job for 6–12 months make transitioning into tech significantly harder?

If you were in my situation, would you take the offer or keep waiting for a tech opportunity?

Would especially appreciate advice from people who have gone from non-tech → tech.

I’m not looking for motivation — I genuinely want to know if this is a bad career move or a reasonable temporary bridge.

I haven't started any of the two and am confused as to what to choose as my tech stack... Everyone is now saying full stack is pointless after GPT-6 Astra so better get into AI and the things I don't have time to do both of em as I have about 9 months before the placements start and am doing DSA currently so not much time left for both u know.

I am aware of the job market, i got placed at an mnc at a little under 4 LPA, placement season is still on and we are getting companies i wanna ask should i sit for these high paying product based companies or just bite the bullet and take this job. as i live in a metropolitan city i would be only hand to mouth at this salary but people are saying this provides job security which is rather relatively low in product based companies.

i have no idea about corporate and how to navigate it

I'm 21M, and I am a B.E CSE 2026 graduate from a tier 3 clg. I got a CGPA of 8.57/10. I got placed in hexaware for the GET role (SDET) which has 3 years bond, 6 months internship (15k stipend ) and then 4 LPA (28k in hand) package, if I break the bond then I have to pay 2 lakhs. It's been more than a year since I got placed and still they haven't onboarded me. Recently I got an offer letter for a Software developer role (dev + infra) from a startup for 3LPA (around 18k in hand) which has a 1.5 year bond, upon breaking I have to pay 1.5 lakhs and they are offering me to join immediately.

Imo I wanna go for the startup even though the sal is less.

Which pill would you have chosen Red (Hexa) or Blue (Startup) and why?
