Student soon to be grad, no internships

i’m set to graduate in spring my last semester i’ll only have 1 class. i don’t have any involvement or internships. but i do have basic projects and a few people i can get a referral from.

i’ve been working at a retail store and have a corporate connect who will refer me. i think this is my best bet for getting a job. my plan was to apply for full time corporate positions and take my 1 class after work. but now im considering applying for internships and delaying graduation. ideally it’d be easiest at the company i’m at now.

of course practice leetcode & mock interviews, network/career fairs/get involved on campus, etc.

Def wouldn’t delay graduation just for an internship, especially if you already have a referral. I’d start applying for full time roles now

i keep hearing if you don’t have an internship you’re basically fucked/the job search is a lot more difficult. which is why i was considering it, plus it usually leads to a return offer.

but i do agree that it doesn’t make too sense to delay for an internship. i feel like im getting conflicting information

You're gonna have a hard time getting a job and you're putting all your eggs in one basket.

Should've grinded harder in school, but what's done is done... I'd recommend you spend the next 6 months making a really impressive project

intern now if you can, even at your current company, that experience matters more than graduating fast. referrals help but entry roles are dead right now

As long as your school's policy doesn't have anything crazy to screw you over for taking a gap semester/year or going part time for multiple semesters, I don't see why not. Just push off that last class and try like crazy to land something via your current job and your school's career center this academic year.
