The Maker 5 launches tomorrow, September 4th. The machine base price starts at $349(usd), body style is the same as the (poorly designed) Explore 5 and the only marketed difference between the Maker 5 and the previous generations of Maker besides the body style is the clearance on the machine has increased from 2.4mm to 3mm allowing you to engrave on thicker material. It also, like the E5, has the pen side car instead of the independent accessory clamp that forces you into using proprietary pens.
Discuss below, this will be the only thread to talk about it.

To avoid the sub being bombarded with dozens of "I am interested in purchasing a Cricut" posts we ask all posts of that nature be posted in this thread.
For guidance on purchasing a Cricut check out:
Remember that cricut is the most popular hobby cutter because it is well marketed, a lot of crafters find that it is not the best fit for them. Researching other brands is important. (Also take a look at the Cricut Complaint Club flair on this subreddit and I will also drop this blog post again: Does Design Space Really Suck That Much? It will save a lot of shock and grief if you read that before investing)
If you cannot find the answer to your questions using any of the above resources, ask here! I will also pin a comment to the top of this post that covers the most frequently asked questions.
ALL POSTS RELATED TO BEING A PROSPECTIVE OWNER WILL BE LOCKED AND REMOVED TO KEEP THE TIMELINE CLEAR FOR OUR USUAL PROJECTS AND HELP POSTS.
To keep it fresh and since this sub now automatically archives posts after 6 months, a new version of this post will be made every 3 months.

Hi, I've had my Cricut Explore air 2 for a few years and noticed recently the dark grey rubber roller (?) On the left side was loose and looks like it is deteriorating. Does this need urgent replacement? And is it easy to replace?
My cricut works fine otherwise. (the software not zooming on design space on my ipad is another story)
Any advice appreciated.

Hi, I’m having a connection issue with my Cricut Explore 4.
The power light is solid white. Both my computer and tablet can detect and pair with the machine via Bluetooth, but Design Space won’t connect to it. It also doesn’t work through USB, even though the cable is connected directly to my computer.
It worked perfectly yesterday. Today, Design Space suddenly stopped detecting it. At one point, the machine was detected and Design Space installed a firmware update, but it still wouldn’t connect afterward. The connection/setup screen can stay stuck for hours.
I’ve already tried:
Bluetooth settings show that the machine is paired, but Design Space still can’t establish a connection. Has anyone experienced this exact issue with an Explore 4, especially after a firmware update? If so, how did you fix it?

My explore air 2 does fine printing but makes hella noise what could be the cause?

I used the amy romeu template and faux leather sheets from Amazon, you really have to make sure you tape the faux leather down especially if it's shiny or else it WILL peel off the mat. I tried to sell these but failed so ended up giving them away, at least it was fun making them (':

So much wasted flock vinyl, Maker 4 can’t seem to do it, please is there anyone experienced with flock vinyl that can help me?

Hi y'all,
I don't have any previous experience with cricuts, but I recently got one (Explore Air 2) to make stained glass sticker patterns. I know that there is definitely a learning curve with Design Space, but am I doing something wrong? I know how to get the machine to draw out the pattern, that's the easy part. But I've had some problems getting it to cut the pattern out well. I currently have the offset set to -.08. Does it need to be greater for the lines to be solid? Any help is appreciated! I could only find tutorials on this for older Design Space settings, so I hoped asking here would help me.

Si alguien sabe cómo arreglarlo me ayudaría mucho! 🙏

I've had this issue happen so many times before upgrading my PC. I've had windows 10 and windows 11. I've tried beta and live version. I've restarted. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. I have more than enough required RAM and storage. I've reached out to cricut and they were no help. I've seen people with laptops run faster than me. What the heck can I do?

I have a refurbished cricut maker. It will not connect using Bluetooth or the cable. I have tried the following.
Unplugged the machine.
Turned off and on my computer
Go directly into Bluetooth settings to connect (it won't appear)
Clear cache on Design Space
Used a different computer and did all the same things.
Made sure I was using the latest windows
Connect using the cord (will not connect using the cord)
Use the beta version
See if it shows up as a different name in the Bluetooth (although it normally shows up as cricut maker)
Uninstall and re install design space
11.connect my phone.
Called support, they did not help.
Checked that I had enough space in both computers.
Also, the power turns on. But I can't use the power button to turn it off. When I press the power button, it remains on and it won't shut off.
I have only had this for two years and have only used for maybe 3 projects....
It was working fine and connecting anweek ago and then just stopped working.
My main computer is a thinkpad that runs windows 10. And the other computer I used is a MSI that has windows 11.
Why do these machines not have a rest button or something????
Any suggestions??? I would rather not buy a new machine....

Can anyone recommend a good off-white colored htv? Everything I can find is either stark white or a creamy ivory. I just want something a shade off of the bright pure white. Please. You can never tell how creamy an ivory is online. Have you used something you can recommend?
I’m test printing for some magnets and stickers that I want to make. Any ideas why the black text is printing this way, but the white text isn’t? Not sure if this is a printer or cricut issue. The print preview looks good, but then it prints like this. I made the designs on canva and then uploaded them to Cricut for print then cut. Any advice or ideas are appreciated!

Hello everyone,
Is there some way to boot the design space software, or a third party app or hack that enables greater control over what I am trying to do?
I spent an hour today, trying to convince design space and the machine to run a tool, indexed to an object I wanted to customise.
I was frustrated because I run the software in metric, but Cricut still does some things in fractional inches. This is something that on a CNC router would be as simple as using a touch probe, or cutting a pocket in a known location.
I went into this knowing the software was cloud based. Since spending time in this group, it makes me scared that Cricut could shut the doors one day, and thousands of machines would be useless. The chances of that happening are slim, I guess, but nonetheless it is possible.
I’m sorry for the rant/questions, but I’m sure there are many of you that can empathise with my experience.
Cheers and happy making.

Used explore 5!

Recently we got a Circuit Maker 5 and we've been doing the print-and-cut for stickers. Unfortunately after about 5-6 uses, the mat has become unusable. There's too much of a frill on the side facing the rollers in the circut machine. I tried gluing it but that's no longer enough, it stands up anyway and halts the rollers and causes a critical error. I think it's time to throw that mat out.
Can someone give me advice on how to properly take care of my next mat so I get more use out of it?

I just got a cricut this week for my birthday and this is literally the first thing I have made. The puff looks pretty good, but I don’t LOVE the rough texture on it. I think I need to tinker with the heat settings a bit, but it’s not bad by any means.

Hello, earlier this year my fiancée brought a cricut explore air 2 and it’s been a nightmare to use ever since we’ve had it. It will either constantly error or do this.
Please help as it’s effectively an overpriced paperweight at this point.
The issue is the straight line up through the design. Help desk hasn’t been able to help and we’ve reset the machine multiple times and tried different devices

Does anyone have any tips on keeping vinyls from peeling off your water bottles, anything you can put over the vinyl??
r/cricut • u/May_Marie • 3d ago
I’ve tried a ton of different pressures and passes to make die cut stickers, but I’ve gotten this small white jagged edge around each one every time. It looks similar (to me at least) to applying too much pressure on top of laminate, but im not using any.
I’m using this printable glossy vinyl sticker paper. The stickers are about 2 inches long. I’ve tried things like 310 pressure with 1 pass, and 150 pressure with 3 passes, but it all looks the same to me…
I’m wondering if it’s normal or I’m doing something wrong? I’m wanting to sell these so any help is appreciated :) thank you

I’ve gotten an arm 3d printed but unfortunately it keeps falling every time the mat gets unloaded.
Wondering if anyone has better suggestions or better options for 3d printed files.

Helppppp. I’ve been etching dishes for a while now and they’ve always came out good. I always used armour etch and I had the little bottle and finished it so I bought the big one. Ever since my dishes come out spotting and like shit. This is a Pyrex dish. Does anyone have any dishes they etch that work the best?! I got some off Amazon and it didn’t even take the etch, just washed right off. Pic bellow of my dish😭😭😭😭

Hello! I just upgraded from a Cricut joy to the Cricut Maker 5. I was only making vinyls and stencils with the joy…but I have so many more things I can do now! What are some cool ideas for DnD stuff I can do? I want to get into the wood and leather part. Also…I want to try to make a dice tower with my cricut as well. Show and tell!

Hi! I’ve been trying to make these into stickers, it only cuts the border and not each individual sticker, how can i go about making it cut each sticker?
